Hello,

I just purchased a 24" Wrist Wraps BLACK MAMBA. I just recently strained / hurt my wrist from either doing presses or power cleans not really sure but my left wrist hurts when clentch my fist tightly and rotate it in circles. I plan to rest a week and then start my lifts again but im going to reset my weights to really light weights and add more weights every session.

My question is do I wear the wrist straps for a couple of weeks while doing lifts so I can ensure that my wrist get 100% healed and do not get over-extended again? I was planning to wear just the left wrist wrap, since thats the only side that hurts or should I be symetrical and just wear both sides for the wrist wrap even though the right wrist does not hurt?

Thanks,
Ronald

I would go light for a while or not lift to let it heal. You should only need the wraps for lifts in the 90+% of your weight range. Those are heavy wraps your wrists will not get stronger while using them if you use them too much so be carefull. Limit there use.

Whenever using a wrap ALWAYS wrap BOTH wrists the same.
You get a weird imbalalnce if you wrap one and really increase the chance of injuring the good one.
I would avoid the exercises that strain them until it is healed, or at least go really light. Use the wraps only for the heavy sets.

My wrist was rebuilt.
I can now go heavier than before, but it took me a long time to get back to it.
I wear my wraps on the two or three heavy worksets on the pressing or curling movements if I need them.
Be VERY careful of overextension.
If you need them to, the Black Mambas will get VERY stiff for support.
I generally use them at about 3/4 their full effect.
Learn HOW to wrap the wrist to support it properly, it's not just as easy as putting them on.

Wear both wrist wraps. Wrist wraps act as a protective device when lifting. Make sure to make a fist when wrapping them, but I don't recommend you squeeze every bit of fiber out of the wrap. The black mamba's will offer great support where your wrists have or will fail you.

When you are pressing (any pressing) the two bones in your arm separates at the wrists and putts pressure on your tendons. That is the pain your feeling. Wrapping your wrists keeps the bones from spreading. It's no more complicated than that, and yes, wrap them both. Get a power lifter to show you how to properly use them or e-mail the folks at pro wrist straps and have them explain it to you or send you a video if they can. You can easily use them improperly and they will be useless. Enjoy.

Gee, let's hope he didn't wait THIS long to do something about his wrist. Hopefully when he's pressing (and pressing), he's not still having problems.
