Hey ladies, I had posted in the main forums, but one of the boys kindly told me this was the place to go, so here I am!
I'm 5'2...waaaay too many pounds (189 according to the gym scale this morning) and have been sitting at a plateau for almost 3 months. I lost 30 pounds over the last year, just by decreasing my caloric intake and walking. I joined a gym in January, and was doing 30-45 mins of cardio 3-5 times a week and some weight training 3-4 times per week. I've lost almost 30" (which is FABULOUS) but the fat just doesn't seem to want to come off. Recently I've upped my cardio to 45-60 mins 5-6x per week, as well as upped my weights/reps (depending on the muscle group that I'm working on).
Here's the problem...I was told at one point that my caloric intake should be between 1000-1200 per day...apparently that's too low. Lately I've been really trying to eat 5-6 small meals a day, but I don't think I'm getting enough calories with each meal. My diet looks like this (for the most part):
Breakfast= whole grain english muffin, 2 egg whites, tomato slices, fatfree cheese slice
snack= celery sticks with 1tbsp peanut butter
lunch= turkey/chicken patty, spinach, whole grain pita
snack= 1/2 c low fat cottage cheese
dinner = chicken breast, mixed veggies, 1/2 c brown rice
snack= protein shake
Any suggestions??

your not taking in enough calories.
I eat double that I work out less than you .
I would die of starvation on your food intake
I rarely eat bread or pasta

Calories are way too low based on you stats and this is why progress has stalled. Get your calories up to 1900 immediately. (214 grams protein, 143 clean carbs and 53 grams healthy fats) Track your numbers in www.fitday.com
Focus more on your weight training and go heavier using 4-10 rep ranges. Keep the cardio 4-5x a week 30-45 min at the most.
This should get you moving in the right direction.
I'll PM you a food list to give you more variety.
Best of luck!

Thanks so much ladies! Yeah, my doctor had put me on a 800-1000 calorie diet and nothing was coming off...so I started working out on top of that. It makes sense that my body isn't getting rid of anything...it's scared to starve!
Today I've had some extra calories, and for some reason I'm famished right now! I'm still only around 1400 though...so maybe I'll make myself some oatmeal as a pre-dinner snack.
Hopefully the extra calories is what my metabolism needs to start burning off the "insulation"...

I have to agree. I'm pretty new here and almost every "Help Me!" thread has Kimm4's name on it somewhere!
Big plus that you have the muscles to back your advice, too. :D
Now, how would I go about getting my hands on that food list you were talking about? ;)
(Sorry to hijack. Good luck to the OP! :D)
