I had a great time too, my team got really into it. Overall we took second place at the meet. I took 3rd place in the 148.5 weight class with a final clean of 240! (Stoked I finally got a medal at least after just missing one in my bench competition.) :)

I did 230, 235, and finished with 240 - 10 lbs OVER my last PR!
Here's my 2nd and 3rd attempts:

You are strong, no doubt. Congrats on the placement as well.

But I cannot believe that any organization actually condones powercleans whose form is atrocious as that. Especially for impressionable kids that never really receive the proper training. Your coaches are ignorant and irresponsible, period.

I agree that you are very strong but you could be pulling alot more than that with proper form. Those were almost all arms.

Great job though.

After 225, my form breaks like that...I have a tendancy to either step back or step forward, I need to work on it for sure. I wouldn't go so far as to call it astrocious, but I can't disagree with what you're implying. Some of the cleans I saw were both frightening and pathetic.
I also wouldn't say the coaches are irresponsible for they do advocate correct form, most kids are just stupid and never even endeavor to correct it. You should see how MOST of these guys were doing it:

But at least they'll likely never power clean again. (Even I probably won't, after high school.)
I'll definately keep that in mind though and work on it next time I clean.

EDIT: Made another thread to find out what I was doing wrong. Apparently my form DOES suck...a lot. I'll be working on that. ;)

you got some major strength man, but as mentioned before, you need to work on your form. drop the chucks, get some real oly lifting shoes, and focus on keeping your arms out of the equation. you are losing a ****-ton of power by pulling with your arms in the second pull of yours. either way, GJDM on the 240 clean at >150 .

Good lift. I do my power cleans horrible too but thats just how my form is, you never know you could be stronger doing them like you already are. Below is a video of a competition like yours that I had last year, I did 305 on the cleans with "bad" form.

Haha, bad form FTW!
I made a thread earlier today in the powerlifting section to find out in more detail what I was doing wrong...
I'm going to start re-learning and perfecting my form ASAP!

Good job getting up 305, I have no clue how you guys hold on to the bar when you catch it like that. I have a buddy who does the same thing and he always drops it unless he's steps in and leans back really quick.

The all time record is only 330? :O

For that particular competition.
(I don't believe that was the heavy-weight class.)

That 330 was almost a full clean rather than a power clean...

True... still better form than any of the other ones posted so far.

At least OP knows that his form isn't the best and is willing to change.
