So I've read that if you consume less calories than your BMR requires your body's metabolism will start to slow down.

My BMR is around 1300 cals (I'm 5'6", 115lbs, 28yrs, female).

I was hitting a plateau with my fat loss, it seemed, so right now I'm eating around 1300 cals per day (my BMR).

Does the body metabolism start to slow if my "total" cals are less than my BMR or if my "Net" cals are less than my BMR?

So for example I'm eating around 1300 cals total, but my net (minus exercise and stuff) is probably around 1100 cals. Am I good to go as long as my "total" cals are around my BMR?

Also, I know it takes awhile for the body to even switch into starvation mode or whatever. Wouldn't the weekly carb-up reset everything so I never hit starvation mode anyways?

Your calorie deficit is not enough such that you need to worry about your metabolism slowing down. With the carb-up every week or two weeks you will be fine. How long do you plan on dieting?

Well this is about my 5th week in CKD I think. I'd like to get down to 15% body fat and then start working on a bulk up to get some more muscle on me (would love to be around 120 with 15% fat).

Right now I'm at 21% body fat I believe...so I'm not sure how long I'll be "dieting" really. Probably until I hit my target body fat percentage or decide to start bulking I guess. Just trying to get some muscle definition for the summer :-)

If you are worried about a BMR slowdown due to the calorie deficit, then take week off after 12 weeks of "dieting" as you call it. I'm not suggesting that you binge, but just eat when you are hungry and try to stick to healthful foods--keto or not. I hope that you have reached your goal by 12 weeks, but if not, then give yourself that short break. Best of luck.
