Any one hear have torn bicep tendon? I tore mine when i was about 17-18. I didnt know it was torn, and when the doctor seen it he said there was to much scar tissue to repair it.

No lose of strength, but i looks weird. Every once in a blue moon, the good tendon hurts. But was wondering if anyone else had it.

My workout partner is one day post-op from getting his repaired, he tore it off the bottom (forearm). He had it fixed within a week, so we expect him to nearly be 100% in 5-6 months.

2 weeks in a huge cast. 2 months in an adjustable range of motion cast with therapy, then he can start curling 5lbs :D

I ruptured my bicep tenton. It tore off at the elbow and retracted up towards the shoulder. Had it repaired and after six months I was back to as close to normal as possible.
As for the soreness, I look at it as your body talking to you. Let it rest until soreness is gone. One thing I've learned in my old age is when your body talks to you, you'd better start listening. ;-)

My bicep tendon was tore several years ago, and was never repaired. they say theres to much scar tissue to repair it now. It looks kinda weird, but the other tendon is strong. It hurts sometimes, but not very often. Last week it really has been bothering me. Probally overtraining some. I hate it.

i tore mine where it attaches inside the shoulder....surgeon says it's about 1/3 the size it should be. i'm trying physical therapy...the surgery really didn't sound any fun at all.

I ruptured mine, it was only a partial tear so I had two options. Rest it for 6 months, and let it heal on it's own, or surgery. With the surgery, it would have healed quicker, but I would have lost a little range of motion. I opted for the self healing, and I havn't had any problems with it since.

6 months of rest and it heals? I did not see a doc, but I know I got some partial tears in my bicep tendon near my elbow. Two of them, maybe 3, but definitely two big ones. My elbow speaks loud and clear.

My question is, am I better off doing 5 pounders right now or should I just not use it at all for 6 month? Or not at all for 2 months, then 5 pounders for 4 months?

I'll get and MRI and treatments later when I can afford them, but it would be nice if I could heal it on its own and save $20,000.

I am a big advocate of high reps with a very low weight to heal injuries. Unfortunatly I didn't really know about using high reps to assist in healing at the time, so I really don't know if it would help you.

That said, the doctor I went to is a very good orthopedic surgeon, and he told me not to use it. He gave me a sling and everything so I am guessing it's best not to lift anything.

I had a complete rupture from the shoulder, also torn rotator cuff...i opted for surgury, even at 41, as i want to continue to work out hard....Had the surgury about 2 1/2 months ago, still a little sore, and dying to get back in the gym, but my doc told me to think of it has a slow setting glue, give it time to rest, at 6 months expect 50% strengh, and full strengh at one year. Cosmetically, can still see the "indent", but alot better than it was after the injury...

I go back for a checkup this coming monday, hopefully getting cleared to do very light lifting. anyone else have experience in how long before you can start training? Can't wait to begin, but don't want to re-tear and go back to ground zero

i also tore mine inside my shoulder. doc said it happened from my previous labrum surgery. im a collegiante pitcher so i had to have mine fixed but the surgery went great and i definately recommend it. they give you the option of cutting it clean which recovery time is short and reataching it is what i did and it took three months and im back to throwing and it feels like a new arm :)
