You guys can laugh, but a habit I've developed over recent time is that I look at myself in the mirror whenever I get a chance. Even at work, when I walk by the main tech area, where there are large glass panels, I look at myself while walking by.

it's as if I'm so obsessed with getting bigger/wider/thicker/stronger that I keep checking myself out.

And when there are gains, it just makes me work harder at the gym... and of course i keep staring for further gains.

nothing wrong with that, what you are doing is evalutions....that's how "WE" are supposed to measure ourselves....

I guess I am the opposite, I hate mirrors and wear baggy clothing all the time. I guess I am odd, as I do not care how big I look, but I look at it as am I getting stronger evry week, month or year.

HAHA, I thought I was the only one!

One thing I dont' do though is ever do this in public places, especially the gym. In the gym I keep my hat pulled down close to my eyes and my head down almost the whole time I am there. Mostly because I want to look like I mean business even if my physique doesn't tell the same story :-0

Nothing wrong there. I do the same thing and when I start really seeing results, I say 'HOT F&*( DAMN'

Bodybuilding is all about vanity. Most do it for themselves first, then the admiration of others. When I am focusing on cutting up I do tend to look more, especially while working out. I also will take the time to flex whatever bodypart I am working. Just admiration for all the hard work you have done.

Yep.

The irony is that right now I'm "fat" - I have a bit of a belly. I did add a little fat from all the heavy eating, but I'm not overweight. I could lose 10 lbs easily in a month's time if I went on a cut, but right now I'm prioritizing strength/bulk (5x5).

This is gonna sound retarded, but Friday night, as I changed in the locker room, I flexed my right arm (in front of my midsection) and was surprised at how bulky my upper body looked. This considering I stare at my naked torso daily at home.

I'm excited to see what the next 6-9 weeks of 5x5 will bring. And, I'm freaking ITCHING to return to the gym, but my next weightlifting workout is... Wednesday.

What's wrong with that? We are often are own biggest critics. Every once in awhile I will glance back at a mirror and actually think..."damn....I'm ****ing huge!" lol

Guilty as charged also. I didn't used to be like this. :)

Sometimes it's vanity but sometimes I'm just thinking that I can't believe how different I look. I had 30+ years of a super skinny guy looking back at me in the mirror. ;)

Years ago, as a younger lifter (and waaayy before I was married) I was at a strip club. I paid for a lap dance, and while the girl was dancing for me all she kept doing was checking out herself in the mirror! Not that I had a ton of experiences against which to compare that, but I was thinking, WTF?!? I'd never seen anyone so self obsessed. Anyway, that pops into my mind ever since when I find myself checking myself out in a mirror. I try to avoid being too self absorbed, which I have/had a tendency to be in my past.
