hey all. anyone have any luck with any of these "folding" cross trainer machines? i want to get one to have at home just to use every once in a while for cardio. i live in a loft where space is of the essence and i don't want a huge machine out when i entertain, so i was thinking of getting a foldable one that i could shove away when neccessary. i need one with the arms so i can get some full body cardio going on.... thanks in advance!

What type of cardio are you thinking of using it for?

If you aren't looking to do a full HIIT session on it but more for just cardiovascular health or slow work you might give a Gazel a shot. I don't mean pay full price though. You should be able to find one preety cheap used. Around here I could get one for about $40 sometimes even less. Other than that suggestion I really can't help you, but its an option that might not come up otherwise.

i'm not familiar with Gazelle. I'm looking for something that can give me a nice quick full body cardio workout in a pinch. Something that can give a decent amount of resistance and can be folded up for storage. What I DON'T want is a flimsy piece of crap.

Have you thought about a Spinning bike? You can get one used for $250 or less, they're sturdy and don't take up a lot of space.

Sorry, I've never used a foldable elliptical.

thanks but i'm really not into the bike thing. i like the motion of the ellipticals plus i like the ability to get at least a little pump in the upper body...

I bought a Vision Fitness X6200 HRT Folding Elliptical off of CL for $500...used about 4 years old...its great.

It folds up but also weighs 200 lbs...you can fold it up and move it with some effort...but the pain of moving it is that you have to make sure you level it again before you use it....unless your floor is completely level/flat. I have mine in a garage that has a modest slope.
