I've been meaning to do a training type blog for awhile now and stumbled upon this forum the other day and figured why not do it here. At least someone will actually read it and hopefully give me some pointers...

I've been training in MMA for about 2 years now, I started over at Lauzon MMA(Reality Self Defence), then moved to Bishops Boxing and Fitness. When I started I was weighing about 260, now I'm down to 233 and have been stuck here for ever, I want to get my first amature fight by May or June at 205 if possible, and work my way down from there. I know my biggest problem getting my weight down is dieting, I never know what I should be eating. My usual week looks something like this.

Monday: 4:30-5:30 Boxing, 5:30-7 MMA
Tuesday: 5-6 Boxing, 6-7 BJJ
Wednesday: 4:30-5:30 Boxing, 5:30-7 MMA
Thursday: 5-6 Boxing, 6-7 BJJ
Friday: Nothing
Saturday: 8:30-10 Boxing, 10-1 MMA
Sunday: (during wrestling season) Wrestling 10-12

Wrestling season is bascially over so the wrestling on sundays is done, I usually run for about 30min before starting boxing everyday. I know i should also be doing some weight training, but again I don't really know any good exercise plans for someone doing MMA. I'll try to update this as frequently as possible, and hopefully I'll be ready for a fight sooner then later.

Yesterday I started my workout with 2X3min rounds of shadow boxing to get warmed up, worked some combos on the thai bag working in some kicks as well for 2 more rounds. Worked 3 rounds of mitts and finished up with some footwork drills. I then jumped upstairs to get strechted out for MMA, and helped coach with the kids class.

Once that was finished we warmed up with a slow jog around the mat, and went into armbar drills from guard. Some of the bigger guys went into the cage to get one of our guys ready for his first ammy fight this weekend and we needed to push his cardio hard, we just worked his takedown defence first then did some light MMA rounds with him.

After that we worked on being active inside someones guard after seeing a teammate lose a close decision for not being active inside the guard, we ended class by working in groups of 3 and going live for 2min rounds switching partners and starting postions ( both standing, one guy in guard, side control, etc..)

Tonight is my 2nd Gi BJJ class so I'm excited for that, and on top of that I have to put something together to go over on wednesday because our coach won't be in because he has some police academy test to take for work. I'm thinking of just setting up a circuit of MMA, Grappleing, Cardio and Core strength drills, and maybe going over some basic sweeps from guard. If anyone has any ideas let me hear them, the amount of stations depends on who actually is going to show up, but i was thinking of doing this.

1. Guard boxing
2. Just takedowns
3. Grappling
4. Ground and Pound on floor bags
5. Mitts station
6. Box Jumps
7. Medicine Ball situps/crunches

more or less depending if alot of people show up or not.

Last night I forgot to bring a change of clothes to work so I couldn't make boxing in time, for BJJ we went over a couple of sweeps from guard, and a guard pass. then we worked a pass or sweep drill which was basically my first time rolling with a Gi on.... I never thought BJJ would be this hard with a Gi, its going to take some time for me to get use to all the grabbing and holding you can do to stalemate someone.
