Going to school there this coming fall and have been desperately trying to find a solid academy that I can be a part of during my stay... I havn't really found one solid academy yet, I'm looking for jiu jitsu, muay thai, and probably a little Judo...
Also, UIUC has a jiu jitsu club and such... do you guys think this club would be something worth while? i was hoping because its such a big school that the club would be pretty serious stuff... dunno though
thanks for the help!

I just started getting into mma and go to UIUC, so I joined goshin jitsu. Its a club that combines many elements of combat sports like bjj, thai boxing, wrestling, and some self defense. I think this is really what you are looking for plus its only $60 a semester and that accounts for 3 2hr sessions a week, while the local BJJ place is something like $120 a month. Two nights a week we work on fundamentals and technique and then on saturday afternoons they have sparring. The instructors are pretty cool and have some pro mma fights under their belts as well.
