That's a long ass swim. I'd have sunk to the bottom at the .5 mark.

You planning on fighting?

lol yeah I started off the same way, I could only swim like 4-5 laps before I was dead. It took me a month+ to master how to tilt your head to the side and breath properly.. But yeah my goal is to have my first fight in May

Good deal. I may start swimming early in the morning when summer comes along. The Y pool is heated, but its not indoors. I hate the cold.

Good luck on the fight. Which weight class you looking to be in?

well i was at a lean 187 @ about 7-8% body fat (im trying to activate my body space so I can put my profile pic back up), then I got sick for like a 1.5 weeks and dropped to 175lbs. My pullup count went from 22 to 15 too, i ****in hate getting sick.. But i mainly wanna fight @ 185, the 170 guys are prob a lil to quick for me

also here is my bench press vid when i was back in high school

Can't view the vid at work. I'll check it out later. 170 may be quick, but the 185 dudes are strong as hell.

-woke up @ 9 and took some PEA then drank a protein shake about 30 mins later
-went to uni and did some boxing with mitts for an hour then used some thai pads and worked on kicking combos for another hour
-trained in some JJ and learned different variations of the arm bar
-rolled a with a 130lb girl (first time ive rolled with a girl) LOL and yes i did not take it easy on her and no she did not submit me at all
-went to class smelling like ****
-came home and ate 2 cans of tuna
-swam 2 miles
-wrestling practice
-gym to pump some iron for 45 mins
-jumped rope
-now eating a 3lb chicken

now im sitting here writing all my tasks out on google calendar, then off to more MT later

btw google calender could be your best friend when trying to stay organized and not missing any sessions

P.S. I feel so great with life right now and have a whole diff outlook ever sense i started training in MMA, im waking up early and getting in really good shape, my confidence has risen through the roof, I've actually gotten mostly As on all my tests, and I've smoked a lot less bud.. I just cant tell you how good life is now and I thank martial arts for that.

P.S.S. my trainer was telling me that I should drop to 155 for my fight, but my regular weight is around 185-190.. i think i would lose A LOT of strength if i had to cut all that weight. I wrestled in high school and know how to cut weight properly, but it sucked real bad constantly dropping down to 160.. but im asking would it be worth it to drop to 155?

TE
02-12-2009, 02:11 PM
155 would be a big drop. I'd push to come in at a strong 170.

Try 170 your first fight and see how that feels. If you can, drop the extra 15 lbs. and fight at 150 lbs. Just slowly drop your bodyweight if you have to.

thanks for the input.. yeah if i fought at 155 I would have to walk around at about 170 when my natural bodyweight is around 190ish.. i dont kno about that

-woke up at 10 and did some boxing for about an hour
-jumped rope and stretched for a long period of time

im starting to put a lot of focus on getting monster legs, I wanna be able to squat atleast 500lbs before my first amateur fight..

is that a good idea to focus on legs?

whats a dog pisser?

whats a dog pisser?

I said the same thing the other day, but it works your butt and your kicking power (no homo)

you get on your hands and knees and start by lifting your right leg up as if a dog is about to piss on a fire hydrant, you do 50 reps so you can really feel it it in your butt and your groin. then while still in the same position you do 50 kicks, then 50 back kicks while still on your hands and knees.. you never wanna let your knee fall, then switch sides once your done

why wouldnt it be?

Do you have a job or do you just kayak and workout for 5 hrs a day?
kayaking is great exercise, specially for your back.. but no i dont have a job, i go to school a few hours a day and thats about it..

You might want to try increasing the intensity on those workouts...
im not going too into detail with my workouts, but they are pretty intense. I usually spar a few times a week and do bag drills everyday. I do a lot of wrestling and jiu jitsu too. I think doing a mix between MT, JJ, wrestling, cardio, and strength training is plenty to train for..

rolled? Like down a hill?
rolled as in Jiu Jitsu.. I usually roll with a partner bigger then me and try to submit them.

was the stretching with a partner by chance and did you wrestle after?

Was there oil involved?

no.. i want to be as flexible as possible so I usually start my day off with a nice stretch to increase flexibility in my legs, hips, arms etc..
