DAY 1 - Feb 3rd
I only stayed for the beginner's course because I didn't have time to stay for the whole thing. (~1 hr, I was a little bit late)
-practiced an escape when someone sprawls over your back after you shoot in on them to their back
-practiced some basic grip technique, and how to control someone's posture with grips (pistol and regular) while using your feet on their hips, elbows, and knees while you are on your back, also practiced how to break someone's grip on your gi
DAY 2 - Feb 6th
Today I stayed for beginner's and advanced classes. (2.5 hrs)
***Beginners Class***
-did a light warmup and light stretching
-practiced a basic leg sweep takedown from standing, very similar to a judo throw except less kicking motion of the leg, more wrapping your leg around theirs
-practiced posturing up from someones guard, wrapping one of their arms around their own back, wheeling to the side using your head as a pivot point on their chest and breaking their guard into side control. once in side control, application of a kimura
******Advanced Class******
-did a heavy warmup (was already warmed up from beginners class anyways)
and heavy stretching
-while in half guard, practiced shrimping out into butterfly guard and then sweeping the guy, either half mounting them or mounting them completely
-practiced application of an X guard
-rolled for remaining period of class
-subbed a guy 2 times using bear hug to the head subs (yes caveman), he caught me in an RNC and armbar, he has about 3 weeks of training on me (i just started)

Seems weird teaching x-guard to newbs. I dont consider that staple jiu-jitsu at all, just fancy stuff for when you have mastered bread an butter BJJ.

DAY 3 - Feb 11th
NOTE: I am forgetting a lot of things we are learning so next class I might bring a note pad to take notes for the purpose of this log.. Would people think I'm wierd?
***Beginner's Class***
-started with a pretty intense warmup that had me dog tired by the end of it, followed by some basic stretching
-practiced sprawling your legs out in side control and swinging one leg over into full mount
******Advanced Class******
-skipped the stretching
-rolled at half speed with three different guys just to work positioning
-went from open guard to side control by grabbing their pants, basically
-practiced how to break.. I forget what its called, but its when a guy is on his back and has his feet hooked around your knee and one on top of your knee
-learned a gi choke from side control
ROLLING
-rolled with my buddy from school who was tired as sin at the end, who subbed me 2 or 3 times last BJJ and I used bear hug subs on him. this time, from my guard, i snatched an arm and snuck my foot up around his face and locked them, kind of kicking my heel in his nose in the process by mistake, and catching him in an arm bar
-rolled with a 1.5 year guy who I outweighed by 10-15 lbs but he just knew how to distribute his weight. he easily got an armbar and a bravo choke on me in 5 mins
-rolled with a blue belt who basically just let me work positioning, i was breathing pretty hard trying to work him and he wasn't even phased. i got him in a guillotine which was the closest i came to subbing him but he flipped me over top of him, told me after to get a hold of a leg next time i go for a guillotine
-he also explained i was pulling the vertebrae rather than twisting his neck which isn't legal in BJJ

its cool dude, I usually bring a note pad to my MT class and leave it by my gallon of water.. after we get done with our 3 rounds of combos we usually take a 2 min break and switch over pads, i quickly write down all the combos snag some water and go back to training

DAY 4 - Feb 14th
I was really stressed out trying to finish a psych project today and barely submitted it on time.
Then I missed the bus I am supposed to take to get to BJJ on time so I had to take a bus that would get me there late.
***Beginner's Class***
I was late so I completely missed the warm-up.. Instead of warming up at all I stretched for maybe 2 mins and hopped right into the drills (not a great idea)
-First was a break from someone's guard, then stand up while holding their pants below the knees and moving into sidecontrol and putting your knee on their chest. I've done a similar drill before.
-Second we dropped a shoulder on them to get into sidecontrol instead of putting a knee down. Then just switching your hand from their pants to behind their kneck.
-Lastly we dropped that shoulder and kept moving to north south position.
-I was practicing these with a blue belt and it was going fine
-We drilled 2mins trying to pass guard using these techniques, and then 2 mins trying to hold guard
-I couldn't pass bluebelts guard and he passed everytime doing a lot of crazy moves I had no idea how to counter, mainly where he flipped right over my guard and landed in mount.
-after that he went to go drill with another bluebelt
-i was paired with a 270 lb beast of a whitebelt, I passed his guard about every time but he also passed mine due to sheer weight advantage, his knee came down on me like a ton of bricks
-I was really sore from trying to hold my guard in and not doing a warmup or much of any stretching so i decided to bail on the advance class
