Hi All:

My Mother wants to get back in shape for the summer season. With the obvious diet and exercise what strength training can she do to eliminate the fat that hangs out from her bra/swimsuit? I'm talking about the fat from just under her arm pit. Plus her boobies are starting to sag some. What can we do to keep them tone?

Some things are the results of age (sagging boobs is one) and there's very little you can do outside an operating room. Good diet, good routine, plenty of fish oil and other fat in her diet and a really good bra can help. Many women who are sagging and have bra fat showing are actually wearing the wrong size bra. You are supposed to get measured every year, at least.

Reducing bodyfat overall is a good first step. If your mom is like a lot of other women, she may be eating low-fat processed food in an effort to be healthy. The older we get, the less this works. Most low fat foods are full of sugar, and as we get older, insulin becomes a problem and makes it almost impossible to lose weight on a high carb diet. Lots of fresh whole food, particularly things like oily fish, whole eggs, fresh meat, and lots and lots and lots of green vegetables.
