View Full Version : saw a workout video yesterday..

I was watching videos on youtube and saw a workout with this guy who said an athlete should lift like he does.. he did 3 heavy set of Squat, Deadlift, bench press, pullups, close grip bench, and dumbbell incline.. the catch was the video said to do that everyday! discuss?

Discuss? There is nothing to discuss. IMO I dont know a single person who can gain lifting 7 days a week heavy, nor a person who can lift heavy the same muscles everyday.

first of all i agree with every1 that said this is not an ideal workout for most athletes, but very advanced strength athletes such as powerlifters or olympic lifters will somtimes work their whole body everyday they work out. Granted they wouldnt go higher then a 3x3 on volume with alot of rest, and prolly stick to 1-3 different lifts. Nontheless any1 giving out the idea that all athletes should train this way all the time is just giving out bad advice

I wouldn't totally dismiss this. The head coach I had my senior year had us doing something like that over the summer, mixed with ALOT of plyos. I was young, but I think it worked. I was in the best shape I had ever been in, during my high school career.
