I came from California Southern Section.
As far as our league went, each school (out of six) had 2-3 guys running 50-51s 400's, with three guys in our league sub-50 in an open 400. 200, there was a 22.08 best, with two more under 22.46 my junior year, senior year a 22.4 took it.
A 50.7 didn't make it to section prelims, and it got exponentially harder after that.
Gluck!

That's a sick, sick 200m time, wouldn't be surprised w/ top 5-6 in the nation that year with that time. Good job man
Edit: You graduated in 2002? There's no record of anyone running a 21.0 at IHSA meets in 2002, there's a Jarrett Cooper w/ a 21.1 but that's from 1986.

when i was in high school the good 400 runners were in the 48s low 49s...the guy that won our valley championship ran like a 21.8 in the 200..california has some fast ass mofos though so if you live in cal i wouldnt count on making state unless youre well under 50 in the 400 and low 22 in the 200

Our fastest 400m runner splits a high 49 indoors. I'm looking to split 52ish this Thursday and hopefully get down into the 51s in time for New England and then 50s during outdoor. This is in Connecticut. I believe the best 400 runner in the state split a 47 indoor. He's crazy fast - I had to run right next to him. Suffice to say his 4x400 beat ours... but they were the only team to haha.

wow you can haul some ass if you're not bull****ting. im assuming with a body capable of running a 21 even you have always been extremely athletically gifted. would you pm me for some coaching, maybe your track routine? im not a 200 runner, but im sure you have some advice if you really could run a 21. thats fuvkin insane

glad to not be in cali. down in texas a lot of the best athletes are football players, so that takes away a lot of the competition. the region my school is in changed this year to include like 3 black schools. no way in hell i can compete in the 200 with the brothas, not on a state level, but in the 400 i might have a shot. last year a 53 won the district meet, this year coach expects a 49. thats crazy how a 50.7 didnt make prelims at your school.

Yea of course he's full of ****. 21.0 automatic is almost an Automatic for NCAA D1.
Anyways,
Back in 07 for Wisconsin I believe a 21.35 and a 47.5ish were the top state times.
Here at Wisconsin our 200 runners have pr's of a 21.18 and a 21.7 and our fastest 400 runner has done a 46.1 and he ran an indoor time of a 46.6x this past weekend at the Meyo Invitational (James Groce, currently red shirted). We should also have Kyle Jefferson who ran a 46.xx in high school

not true. Me and my friend who is also white dominated sprints in our class and there's a kid named barett nugent, signed with lsu runs like 10.5 100 and 13.1 110 hurdles white. Plenty other fast white boys out there, its just they all end up turning into couch potatoes lol (no racist, making jokes)
It has nothing to do with your color. Speed isn't born, its trained.

Hey, don't give up on it, think of how great it's gonna feel when you crack 50 seconds. I know it's tough, but the way I see it, it takes the same time to be lazy or be great, you know? and p.s. my league is mostly white haha minus one school, just spend the hours and give it all you have and you won't regret it.

Wisconsin's a sick school. I raced a guy named Evan Jager once, think he quit after this last year to run pro, but for the one year he ran distance at Wisco he ran well, just wish he would've stayed longer.
Excited to see what Jefferson does this year, too.

One other thing, when you start into the final curve and that bear jumps on your back don't think about the pain! Do everything possible to not think about how hard it is to move your legs, no excuses just push them as hard as you can and keep going otherwise the bear will maul you until your dead!

it's not a matter of excuses. i know im not capable of competing in the 200m on a state level, and won't be by next year either. in the 400m, i will be there without a doubt by next year

You in high school?
'Cause the fastest time in the nation last year was a 52.86, from New York. 2007 had one or two 51's, but I'm fairly sure she was from Ohio, not NC.
What's her name?
