knee wraps only, i decend slowly with only a belt, add in wraps and it looks like im wearing a suit i guess lol

and i use the spiral technique, and im sure i do it horribly wrong b/c i suck at wrapping my own knees.

people say that you can't even wrap convicts tight enough yourself to get the real benifit out of them, and i didn't even put them on myself as tight as i could. i want to get strangulators or convict stranulator hybrids.

The guys at my gym do a like cross kind of wrap. They like go up the knee then come back down with a kriss cross kind of thing. Anyway, they claim to get 100+ pounds out of them that way.

Nice squattin man! Does your older brother feel threatened by your heavy squat/haircut combo?

go hybrid they are stiffer like convicts but have enough enough give to let you wrap them yourself

Follow up question; when you go down that deep are you able to keep your back fully straight. When I squat that deep I can't help but have my tailbone sort of bent out of a straight line and I am worried I might get an injury that way, but I much rather squat that way then do something else.

yes

when i started squatting close stance i had alot of trouble keeping my lower back from bending and rounding when squatting deep, its a flexability problem. maybe tight hamstrings and hips and arms and back.

you probably have no problem squatting ass to grass with a close stance with no bar on your back and your arms out infront of you, but when you put a bar on your back and your arms up you start folding up.... all i did to correct this problem was squat like 50 reps at a time with an empty bar on my back barefooted pausing in the hole.

get O shoes too... dont wear them when stretching though.


there are plenty of other hip stretches etc that would work.... but just squating with an empty bar or even a broom stick works.

X2 on the OLY shoes. I prefer to squat with a close stance, and since I got my OLY shoes about a month ago, squatting has felt SOO much better.

Oh, and awesome squat by the way :cool:

and yea ive had my o shoes for maybe 3 years now, they were a good investment. they will last a LONG time.

thanks man, you are right its definitely a flexibility thing, I can do it with my arms in front of me like you said, but as soon as I move my arms as if I was holding a bar I can barely do it.

Nice job... question though:

In your youtube videos you hit a supposedly parrallel box squat for 600 back in September, and the 600 squat you posted in the thread you hit in January. I'm just wondering why the discrepancy... usually they say your box squat is supposed to be much lower than your regular squat, but looks like you hit 600 on box before you did with the free squats. Was it just cause your depth in this video was lower?

i think when i did that 600 box squat it was slightly high when in the hole... and this was like 6 inches under parelell. my free squat without wraps is a good 35+ lbs stronger then it was when i did that 600 box squat.

not sure, but i can promise you alot weaker then yours... i do remember that when i was 15 i pulled 425 conv and 435 sumo, and 500 suited.

just keep it up be consistent and persistent and you will probably be stronger then I am now when youre 18 or 19.
