I competed in my first figure show this past November. I was wondering if anyone who's been to the JR USA in Charleston could give me some advice on whether this show is more for pro atheletes and less for amateurs. I'm hesitant to prepare for it because by looking at the pictures from previous years. The girls look really well turned out. As in, pro-level. Does an amateur have a shot?

Do you have a national qualification?

No, I'm sorry I don't know what that is... My first competition was a National Physique Association show. I've never done NPC.

You need to be nationally qualified for the Jr USA.

Check out npcnewsonline.com. They have the full contest schedule up now. It should help you figure out what level show you want to do.

In order to compete in Figure in the Jr USAs, you have to have gotten top 5 in a NPC National Qualifier. In the NPC, there is a hierarchy as such:

Regional/State leve
National level
IFBB Pro
