O hai thar teen section, welcome to my workout log. I am making it to track my progress and get useful tips and encouragement. I will try to update it every time i lift. vids may be provided when i can drag my lazy bro away from the xbox.
training history: i lifted with machines until christmas of '08, because that was all i had access to. on machines i brought my bench up from 75 to 225 over about 1.5 years. also, i trained only upper body, because once again i didnt really have access to freeweights. since i got some equipment for christmas, i have started training legs as well, so i will include leg workout information in this log as well. Since i got freeweights, my deadlift has gone from 265 to 300 and my squats have progressed as well. currently, my bench max sits at 240. i will also include some running information because i am currently training for an endurance event.

145x25 was my first time, i was just playing around, focusing on form, not exerting any real effort. my 'current stats' section is incorrect, 145x20 was around christmas time. also, the 185x25 was fresh, 145x25 was after deads and 2 sets of ****ty squats. so it was pretty much just a month of noob gains

a little bicep work today, first time in a while, i was pretty pressed for time so i didnt do many sets. i was very lacking in energy because i ran 5 miles pre workout.

was supposed to do leg stuff today, but my right adductor wasnt totally healed yet (hurt it playing basketball) so i couldnt do much. I just ended up doing a few sets of atg squats with 135lbs with super narrow stance (like normal standing width).

heres what i look like right now (focus on the side of me not stretched out by holding the camera). i intentionally used pretty ****ty lighting because i figure its not like im always going to have perfect lighting lol so i like to make it realistic. my delts suck, but have come a very long way. IMO my main weakness is that i have the pecs of an anorexic 12 year old. any comments? what should i work on the most? what are my strengths and weaknesses?
and for the most important question, do i look any bigger than in my avi (its a couple months old)? avi is at like 162ish and this pic was taken at 172, did i actually gain any lean mass or just fail hard? also, if you saw me at the beach or something, would you think i lift weights?
also, if somebody can teach to embed that would be great

from your workouts so far id say you can hit 250 but id suggest using lower reps 3-5 they helped me on strength alot. gl on the record im trying to break my school record for my weight. its 330 i should get it before the school year ends

1 RM estimate anybody?
i have unfortunately failed to make any other notable gains really... i started squatting ATG... my recent workout was working up to 205x5, my last deadlift workout was working up to 255x5 with good form, but my back curved a tiny bit on that last rep.

sundays DL workout sucked, on my last set i only got 260x3 (program called for 5). i will repeat it this sunday to try for the full 5 reps, and if that fails im resetting my DL
tuesday's squatting wasnt even challenging, was supposed to work up to 210x3, i did a 4th, but i could have done like 10. i think i should have entered a much higher max to start off with lol
also, i havent been doing the sunday squatting because i go mountainbiking on the weekends and i feel like the added squatting would be over doing it

I guess you begin to realize your school isn't that bad when your freshman bench record beats another school's sophomore one by a decent amount though haha :s guess chaska isn't the weakest town around
But seriously, nice lifts for your age bro. Keep going and I don't know how much of a problem it is in your town but don't **** yourself by getting sucked into pot or whatever. Too many of my buddies were beasts till they threw it all away for some good bud.

ran 1.5 miles, sprinted up the stairs a couple times, and called it a day

i did some barbell curls, did like 100x5 with mediocre form, and then 90lbs for like 8 with good form, and then did a set to failure with 70. needless to say, my biceps are much weaker than they used to be
i put off squatting until tommorow because i was still sore from sprinting yesterday

update: i was just looking back on the goals i set for right about now when i started this log:

my current bench max is probably about 295 so im quite happy with that
on squat i could probably only do like 9 reps of 215, so failed there
on DL, next workout i will work up to pulling 285x5, id estimate the max at probably 325, so i didnt meet my goal but im ok with the progress ive made.
new goals: finish 275x5 workout on bench
finish 265x5 workout on squat
finish DL workout with 325
i would be really extremely happy if i could accomplish these before mid september
im doing a bench only meet in september and would really love to get 300

squatting: pretty decent workout IMO, accidentally printed the wrong day so my 1st 4 and the 6th sets were a little lighter than they should have been

after that i did a set of 16 real slow, full extension pullups. i was dissapointed in myself that i didnt do better on these. did a whole bunch more pullups, some core work, and went running. weighed in at 169.8 post workout. arms measured just a tiny bit under 15" pre workout and 15.5" mid workout (pumped).

yesterday, did the same bench workout as before, only getting 4 reps on the last set of 260. did squat working up to 230x5, but i did either 7 or 8 on the last set (cant remember which). i did hang cleans working up to 155x3 which was pretty hard since i havent done them in a while.

have been on vacation for 2 weeks, but i did go to the gym a few times. finished a 235x5 workout on squat with good depth. maxed DL @ 325. did some benching, did 135x5, 185x5, then 255x3, paused, focusing on form. after that i did the 1st workout for the 'add 50' bench program, it was 200x6, 215x5, 215x5, 215x4, 215x4. today i did the second workout, which was 225x3, 225x3, 240x2, 240x2, 265x1, all with strict form, butt on bench, flat feet, no bounce, etc. finished up with some tricep cable pushdowns.

been a while since the last update because my computer is down. what ive done in the meantime is benching workout 3 (200x6, 215x5, 215x5, 225x4, 225x4) and workout 4 (240x3, 240x3, 250x2, 250x2, 270x1 (butt came off bench) and 260x1 (clean). i squatted the 240x3 5x5 workout, but got 4 reps on that last set. i deadlifted the 295x5 DL workout, but got 7 reps on the last set.

today, ****ty workout, no sleep the night before and most importantly no music (went to a commercial gym). benched 135x6, 240x3, 240x3, 265x1, 265xfail, 235x4. should have gotten 2 reps both times on 265 to stay with program. i will repeat this workout next monday or tuesday under better conditions and im pretty damn sure i wont have any trouble, seeing as ive already benched 270 at the end of a workout. i just want to be able to comfortably bench 285 before the comp in september, i think its possible for sure.

last DL workout was the 5x5 300lb workout. got 300x6 on the last set.
roughly estimated 1RMs at this point are 285 on bench, 345 DL, 275 squat, for a total of 905. i will probably come pretty damn close to my sept. 1st goals for bench and DL but nowhere close for squat lol. goals for '10 track season are to get at least a 3 plate bench and squat and a 365 DL. i would be happy to hit those numbers on the first day in the school gym, and i think it will boost my throwing performance significantly.

did the 3x3 segment of my 5-3-1 on bench 2 days ago. today i did parallel box squat, 5x5 working up to 225x5, was pretty easy. BP comp is in 4 days. i worked on competition form today with light weight.

BP comp yesterday. didnt do so well. had no music and had a hard time getting pumped up. got 235, 260, and failed 275.

Thanks man. I beleive the national bench press record for my age in the 181 class is 314, so I guess that's the new goal

275x3 on 5x5 squatting, took it pretty easy because I had a headache. I'm very happy with progress lately. Since July I've added 80lbs to my DL, 40lbs to my squat, and 30lbs to my bench. For this 5/3/1 cycle my goals are to hit a 250x8 and 265x6 bench I think that I could hit a 305 bench for sure if I get them both.
