About a lady who is 67. Started lifting at 40 something when she was obese.
"At 68, Pristell set world records for her age in bench press, 176.2 pounds, and in dead lift, 270 pounds, for her age group and weight class, according to World Association of Bench Pressers & Deadlifters."
Hope that motivates some of you.

All your life you are told the things you cannot do. All your life they will say you're not good enough or strong enough or talented enough; they will say you're the wrong height or the wrong weight or the wrong type to play this or be this or achieve this. THEY WILL TELL YOU NO, a thousand times no, until all the no's become meaningless. All your life they will tell you no, quite firmly and very quickly.
AND YOU WILL TELL THEM YES.
-Nike
History is a bitch. it is merciless, weeding out the wannabe pretenders from the true contenders. it crushes the weak, leaves 'em behind. It stops for no man. But that don't mean you can't push back. Who are the defiant? When it's time to spill blood & guts, they come with buckets in hand. When the chips are down, they rise to the occasion. When a balls out session calls, they're always the first in line-and they get right back in to ask for more...More punishment means more reward. Standing tall, they are warriors. they are mythmakers. A breed apart, we are not made, we are born. born for this, born to shine in the darkness. So take a long hard look in the mirror and ask yourself this- are you a leader? Or will you be forever resigned to follow? When history is made, will you be the one making it, unracking the iron & unsettling the dust? Or will you sit on your ass, reading about it long after the fact? There is no room for second. No place for the imitator. No space for the poser. History will be made...for the one.

Gary Frank, second best powerlifter ever, after ed coan
http://www.criticalbench.com/images/powerlifter-gary-frank2.jpg
Gary Frank once held the World Record for squat, deadlift, and bench ALL AT THE SAME TIME, in an age before super multi ply elastic suits (his lifts weren't raw but his suits and shirts were nowhere near as supportive and aiding as they are torday), it sad because today everyone is getting 1000 pound squats and 600-700 pound benches, and no one mentions gary franks name anymore, Gary also had a 940 deadlift
he still holds the world record i believe for highest total
a 3 part documentary on his carreer can be found here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTcWVHRhhCw (part 1)

that is a singlet (comprable to those worn in wrestling),it stores absolutely no elastic energy, its required for every organized PL competition known to man, please tell me how a bench shirt is supposed to store elastic energy and aid you in the bench press without sleeves (that is a t-shirt underneath his singlet) and to top it all off, the federation is called 100% RAW
and beezy, Germanic lifts IPF/USAPL, meaning that his suits are only allowed to have one layer of support, i have tremendous respect for raw lifts, but the matter of fact is no one wants to do them anymore (including the strongest people on this planet), so gear isnt going anywhere
the ipf is by far the most stringent federation when it comes to how much support a lifter is allowed

gear initially was designed for protective purposes, people were getting ****ed up RAW, even dave waddington (first 1000 pound squat) and bill kazmaiers (850+) were done in suits but they were farely close to raw, bill kazmaier squatted in a marathon squat suit i believe (they dont seel these anymore)
its human nature to push the limits, thus more fortified suits and shirts were made, the irony is that now more lifters are getting injured from extreme geared lifting

about as early you can get.
'81 Kaz benched 661, he also squatted 925, and pulled 887, for a 2425 total, raw.
Arcidi beat that mark with a 705, though PLwatch lists Arcidi as having a 666.9 in '84 as his highest in what they recognize as competition...though PLwatch is far from an exhaustive listing.
can't find the meet that Arcidi did it in.
kinda like how Ryan Celli, Ryan Girard and Scott Sceppe traded the 220 record three or four times in a single year...

how about we start throwing up motivational qoutes for lifting in this threat too.
Here's the one we all know by henry rollins
Through the years, I have combined meditation, action, and the Iron into a single strength. I believe that when the body is strong, the mind thinks strong thoughts. Time spent away from the Iron makes my mind degenerate. I wallow in a thick depression. My body shuts down my mind.
The Iron is the best antidepressant I have ever found. There is no better way to fight weakness than with strength. Once the mind and body have been awakened to their true potential, it's impossible to turn back.
The Iron never lies to you. You can walk outside and listen to all kinds of talk, get told that you're a god or a total *******. The Iron will always kick you the real deal. The Iron is the great reference point, the all-knowing perspective giver. Always there like a beacon in the pitch black. I have found the Iron to be my greatest friend. It never freaks out on me, never runs. Friends may come and go. But two hundred pounds is always two hundred pounds.

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place... and I don?t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently, if you let it. You, me or nobody, is gonna hit as hard as life. But ain't about how hard you hit... It's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward... how much you can take, and keep moving forward. That?s how winning is done.

I heard from somebody to have them ship you three different sizes, then after you find the one that fits the best, you ship the other two back. I do not want to order one and have it not fit.
Unfortunatley there is no way to answer this. The size that fits you best at first might not be the best suit. I bought a new stock Super Centurion competition fit (tightest fit) for a 220 and I weigh about 225-230. I like my squat suits tight. If I would have bought the 3 different sizes for 220's I would have probably kept the meet fit for 220, the next larger size. It would have probably have fit better initially. I thought there was no way I could get into the competition fit but after 4 workouts it is starting to feel right and I think will ge alot off pop out of it. I would have been disappointed in the meet fit. For me it is the opposite for deadlifts suit in regards to fit. I like them loose, not super loose but not anywhere near the tightness of my squat suit. My bench shirt I like them in between. My point is there is no way to tell what will fit you. I would go on powerliftingwatch.com and look @ there for sale items. I bought my son two different size RageX's and a fusion on there for less then a one new suit. I know that doesn't answer your question but after trying suit after suit for the last 3 years I have finally figured out no one, not Ken Anderson, Brent Miskel, the guys @ Elite, can answer this question for you. Wearing gear is not as easy as some people think. There is alot of trail and error and frustration. You just have to keep plugging away at it. I went to getting nothing from my bench shirt (single ply) last year to hoping to get 100+ this year. I tried 8 different shirts 8 different sizes and finally went back to the second one I bought.

Kaz: Well, I'm pretty convinced - I don't know how many other people are. But then, I know what I did and I know what other guys in history did and there's nobody walking around now that is competing who is able to do anything like the things I've been able to do. Even the great Sigmarsson who was very strong in the grip, biceps, and low back wasn't able to press like me, wasn't able to squat like me, was still way behind in the deadlift - in the powerlifts. So, although he was a great strong man, he wasn't a Kazmaier.
Any of the contemporary powerlifters of today are not strong men like I was. Although one of them may wrap himself up into a big bench press with a bunch of shirts on or something, that's not really lifting, that's something different.
So do I think I'm the strongest who ever lived? Yeah, pretty much. I'm number two, because there was a guy about 2,000 years ago who took spikes to the hand and he was pretty awesome. Other than he... I am a distant second, actually.

He forgot about Big Z.

Good find young_one.
That last vid was the one that caught my eye for some reason, and it was just the thing I needed to pump myself up. Today is just one of those lazy kind of days, but to hell with that, I got me some deadlifts to do!!!
Repped!
