Hello to everyone here in this forum!
Let me introduce myself - to anyone who cares...
I'm back at the gym again after a three year bludge and starting off slow. Three weeks into it and I'm focusing mainly on cardio with a little weights on the side. I love the weights - but find it hard to stay motivated.

This website is a great help! It got me off my but today and into the gym, so that's a great start! My goal is to gain muscle, and get my fitness up. I'm not listing fat loss as a goal because I know that'll happen anyway as soon as I start exercising.

My main problem is motivation. I get bored easily and need a work out which is simple and short. I've been at the gym for three weeks now and have been doing some cardio plus a single work out twice a week which includes:

Dumbbell Bench Press
Flies, or is it Flys?
Leg Extension
Leg Curl
Seated Leg Press
Calf Raise
Lat Pulldown
Cable Row
Shoulder Press with Dumbbells
Tricep Pushdown
Bicep Curl

All of these for three sets of 15 reps just to get back into things again. But it takes me over an hour and it's getting a bit boring already...

From now on I'm going to do a body part a week for a shorter time.
Monday - Chest and Triceps
Tuesday - Legs
Thursday - Back and Biceps
Friday - Shoulders

I don't know if this is a good idea, but it'll keep the workouts short enough so I won't get bored and I can maintain momentum long enough to see some results... results that I'm hoping will increase my motivation.

I'm 32, thinking about having kids, and I work in a nursing home. I see what can happen to people that don't take care of themselves. If I don't make fitness a lifestyle for me than it's all downhill from here! I'm interested in living longer, feeling fitter, and regaining a normal body as soon as possible after I have children... if I do.

I'm not really asking for any comments, but if anyone's got any tips for a nice, short, simple workout for a beginner, I'd love to hear it.

Regardless, I'm off to have a look around the site and hoping you all have a great day!

I would skip the shoulder day on Friday. You will find plenty of beginner/intermediate programs here on BB.com. Its best to arm yourself with a lot of research and figure out what you like to do yourself. As someone involved in healthcare, you know most problems are caused by people who refuse to get involved in their own health. Training the body is also very similar. You can get help from a personal trainer for a short while, but ultimately we have to make our own program and motivate ourself. Wish you luck!

Thanks, Mustrainhard.
I will have a look through the programs here.
