Thanks. It's a sumo deadlift. I found out at the very beginning when I started powerlifting that I was stronger via the sumo deadlift then conventional.
I still do some conventional style pulling in training and try and bring my numbers up there but I'm still by far much stronger sumo style and will stick with sumo for meets.

NASA Iowa State 2009
I'll try and remember as much as I can. Been in a daze all day and it was a long day. Got into Des Moines late afternoon a lot earlier then I planned. I was sitting at work listening to the Dave Tate interview and after that was over I saw no reason for me to stay any longer and left. I got there before the cleared out the gym's equipment and brought in the meet stuff so I stupidly helped clear out the rooms and set them up for the meet. Got weighed in around 7ish pm and took off to chow down on some food.
There spotted a Benigans on my way to the hotel and got a southwest eggroll appetizer which I got to see the next morning in the toilet and their biggest steak which was a messily 16oz with some mashed potatoes and some broccoli. Got to the hotel, took some benadril, and passed out. Pretty good night sleep until some f*cking dogs started barking. I stuck my head out the door and yelled to shut those yapping dogs up and they didn't bark the rest of the night which was good. Got some breakfast at a Perkins around the corner and got some food for the day at a Hyvee across the street from it. Perfect setup.
Tons of people there today in this little hole in the wall gym made for some tight quarters. Over 100 entries. I normally really like the meets at this place because of the hole in the wall atmosphere but there was barely room to walk around. The meet started right on time though and really kept the meet moving which was good otherwise we'd probably just be finishing now. Spotters were right on top of everything and never missloaded a weight. Judging was TIGHT today and were really reinforcing rules. Started right at 10am and finished at around 6:30. Started with their Powersports and had like 2 or three flights of that, 4 flights of squat which I was in the third flight ,5 Flights of bench and I was in the 4th flight of that, and 4 flights of deadlift which I was in the 3rd flight.
Got some good help and motivation from Dave which I met up at the UPA meet this last January and his wife took some vid for me which was awesome and can't thank them enough. He had a great day and was 2nd in line for best lifter and totaled something over 1400lbs with an American record deadlift I believe. I didn't socialize really at all today and didn't go out to see people lifting either so can't really give any details on some of the bigger lifts that happened.
Now for how I did is where it's kind of foggy. I hit a couple of my goals and couldn't be happier. The biggest goal was to break a 1300 total and then was to break a 500 dl. Both of which I accomplished. I didn't get my 314 bench or break 500 on the squat but that will come in time. I know I have it now but just couldn't get it today. I'll break down each lift below but forewarnings that some of my numbers might be off a little as things were pretty foggy at times.
Squat was definitely the most painful lift. I started off
I started off with some warmups working up to a single at 315. Uncomfortable but wasn't crippling.
Opened with 405 and it felt just like 315 so I went with a plan to make sure I hit 1300.
Second attempt with 485 and was close to putting me under. With that though I figured if I can get 314 on the bench and 501 dead I would get all my goals. I was going to scratch my third attempt but then realized how wiped out I was and didn't know if I had 314 in me and the bench is pretty damn painful itself. So....
Third Attempt I went for 491 PR and that put me under. I barely made the lift and almost passout during it. I got pissed off and my adrenaline kicked in and I pushed through it. Afterwords was a different story. Ended up collapsing somewhere. Puked up a little. And someone took of my belt and wraps. Don't remember much of after that until the adrenaline wore off and I was in so much pain my eyes were watering.
405
485
491 PR
Luckily there was lots of time until my bench came up. My legs never fully recovered and felt like I had cement blocks on them the rest of the day.
First attempt was a smoke show with 276 or 281 I can't remember but think it was 276. It was still pretty painful and was trying to setup the best I could.
Second attempt. I know I wanted 314 but knew if I missed it then it would be that much harder to make sure to get 1300. I'd have to pull 533 and didn't think I had that in me. So, I went with 309 which ties my previous meet PR. With this that just means I need to pull 507 which I knew I could do.
Third attempt. FAIL. Went for 314 and stuck half way up. Just could muster the energy to push through it and body was shutting down. No leg drive nothing.
276
309
314 miss
I was still on track for 1300 though. Deadlifts I didn't think I'd have an issue with. The pull has been the least painful and has just been uncomfortable.
Deadlifts finally came around and got some decent warmups in. Entire body felt heavy by this point and not just the legs.
Opened with 474 or 480 can't quite remember. Easy opener and felt like I had my 1300 in the bag after this.
Second attempt with 507 FAIL... just kidding. Hit it easy but really put more pressure on my rib then I thought.
Third attempt.... left it for the next meet. I hit my ultimate goal on the second attempt and just shut it down.

Don't know if I'd do much different besides just not have done it. Lots of pain all day but still had some good times and hit my goal for this year. Don't know yet if I'll get another meet in this year or not yet. Either way I'll be aiming for 1400 next year.
