Do you still go to the gym when exhausted? Is going and doing a half effort workout better than nothing at all? I'm not sick or anything, just feeling worn out. Not really due to holiday things, just everything else! I'm planning on going tonight because my gym was closed the last two days. Just curious what everyone else does in a situation like this.

this really does depend, am I mentally exhausted or physically exhausted?

Mentally then I usually make myself go because the mind plays tricks and will do anything to get the body out of doing physical labour it doesn't 'need' to.

I tend to come out of those workouts feeling better than when i went in.

Physically exhausted then no I don't because this is my body telling it needs a rest and I have to listen to my body's needs.

Right on! Going to the gym when feeling physically exhausted quickly pushes you into overtrainland.

When I'm mentally exhausted, I get physically exhausted as well, so no I don't go to the gym when I'm exhausted, too much can happen, like an injury to where u can't recover from it or takes forever to recover. The less injuries the better.
I'd rather go and put in 1000% Instead of 50%, better for ur body, missing 1 or 2 days a week won't do too much damage, u have to be able to control what u do in the gym and put the effort in.

I am having a day like that today. I was going to go this afternoon after work but I am truly beat, physically more so than mentally. I am going to rest this afternoon instead so I can give it my al tomorrow :)

I do not do gym activities when I'm exhausted . I get too stressed out and usually get sick the next day.On the other hand I will take my dog for a brisk walk,or clean the house, Put nice sheets on my bed make myself a fabulous something to eat (hopefully its healthy) lol and watch a show on TV.

Mental exhaustion on the other hand not something I will miss the gym for, I will push the **** out of myself to get my head straightened out. I get so much renewed energy and I feel proud of myself too.

I think this whole passion to be fit is an adventure you have to try different stuff to see what works for you. Know matter what anybody says about it you have to try and maybe fail but its about learning who you are what you can do and overcoming and achieving your own personal gains not someone else's.

its all very exciting and I'm glad .

I normally will hit the gym, but change up my workout. Maybe do a quick circuit, drop sets, supersets...something that gets me out a little faster than my normal routine.

like everyone else said - if you're physically tired you should probably take a day or two off. If it's mental, then who knows. It's really up to you. Sometimes if you are mentally exhausted, this can cause physical problems too. Sometimes when I am mentally exhausted, I go anyways, and feel better than ever!!
