Hi Girls! New to the site and just wanted to introduce myself. I lost my local support group and realized how important it is to have people with the same nutrition and training goals, so I thought i'd try here. I was much closer to my goal 3 yrs ago, but then came baby! He's now 2 and trying to juggle being a new mom my health has been put on the back burner. I've "started" good nutritioin and serious training about a hundred times in the last 2 years, but seem to fail from lack of support and emotional eating! So, yesterday I started again, but this time hopefully with support from you guys! My downfalls are sweets at night and cardio! My goals are to eat clean all week with sundays as my free days. Long term goal.......maybe to compete yrs down the road. Definetly afraid of committing to it.
I'm 5'7 and 142. Pear shaped. 24% bodyfat and.....flabby.
I know what to do to achieve my goals, but need support and encourangement to do it. Any advice or tips would be great.
Thankyou!! hope to hear from you guys soon!!!
P.S. Since my ass, hips, thighs and legs are my problem areas, should I train legs 2x a week?

I am also new to posting here. Have been reading BB articles for a long time. My goals are to lose fat and gain some lean muscle. I am 168-172 ish and 5 ft 6. I would like to be about 140ish toward the middle of next 2009. I have most difficulty sticking to a low carb diet. I love vegetables and meats, just also love carbs! I plan on keeping a diet diary and regularly posting in this forum.

I think almost everyone here will tell you to eat "clean" but for me I had better luck using Weight Watchers to get off my extra weight. It was too hard for me to eat clean, too hard with my lifestyle. WW showed me how to eat the foods that I liked (I have to eat out alot) and still loose weight, and I've kept it off for years.
Then I hit the gym. I learned alot on here about how to work out and the changes in my body are amazing.
Good luck with whatever you guys decide to do, the results are defiantly worth the effort.

I just updated my profile, etc. It feels good to belong to such a dedicated and BB focused community (although I know some are here for other than BB-reasons). If by problem areas, you mean fat deposits then most women have the same issues. Leg training will do nothing to those (spot reduction myth). You and I need to focus on diet and cardio. Also, it helps to belong to a gym.

A lot of women find starting a journal is a great way to go. Especially for support. I just read the female and OV35 forums and get motivated :)
Which diet you pick is up to you. But ultimately you have to live with it beyond reaching your goals. If you don't like low carb, do a moderate diet. Most of the time a 40/40/20 diet is a good starting point. From there you can make small adjustments based on your results. Some go to 40/30/30 some to 50/30/20 or some other variation.
As far as exercise, weight lifting rules! Cardio is great for the cardiovascular system. HIIT is far better for fat loss. Diet however is the largest influence on your results by far.
Welcome! This site has been beyond wonderful for me. I hope you guys find the same thing.
Terracotta's site has loads of great info for both beginners and the advanced. http://www.hotnfit.com/

The most important part of any plan is your eating plan...that's comes 1st. When you're talking about Sunday being a free day...don't let it fall into a full day cheat...a full day cheat will ruin all your hard work that week!! So a few treats here and there are fine...but don't overdue it.
So bottom line, if you're not a solid eating plan...it won't matter what you do for training...it all starts in the kitchen!

Thankyou all for writing!!! This is what I need, just people to know what I'm trying to do so I can stay motivated. I will take the advice on not having a "whole cheat" day and only have a couple "bad" things! I will post my workouts on the training forum, so if any of you have suggests let me know!

Thankyou for your suggestion on WW, but it doesn't allow you eneogh calories to build alot of muscle, my plan is to keep eating clean and lifting hard and let the muscle burn the fat! Thanks

No problem! Back when I was loosing weight I never thought I'd enjoy weight lifting or muscles so doing it the clean way is defiantly the way to go to build muscle and loose fat at the same time. I wish I'd known about this site when I was starting out!
