So for the past few weeks i have had this crazy infection in my armpit.

It started as a boil that i got most likely from my deodorant/ buzzin armpits. I t got so big last time i shaved that it opened and i woke up with a shirt full of blood. I went on Levaquin for 20 days, nothing changed.

It has really hindered my training and my bulking. I was actually getting weaker.
Today i went to see a surgeon bc it came back as a staph infection plus a few other bugs. He cut it open right there on the spot and basically took the infection out. Hope it doesnt come back.

Thinking about dropping ALL supplements until i can train again, about 7-10 days. Only things i will be taking are protein powders and fishoil. I havent stopped taking vitamins/anti oxidants, creatine/ba in a while kind of scared.

If I ever get another staph infection you can bet I'm going straight for IV antibiotics.

Weird, I had a similar incident a few months ago, right in the armpit. I didn't lose any strength over it, but I cut that bastard open myself and drained it. The ordeal lasted for like 2 months before it finally went away. :mad: It hurt like a bitch, but after lancing that fuker and draining it daily, it finally went away.

Funny thing is after mine popped in my sleep it has been draining everyday and mainly at night. I have a little blood and mucus in my shirt in the AM. It been a while and still yet to go away.

I think it started as a clog sweat gland(forget the conditions name) and i ignored it so i had the boil for months and everytime i would shave it would swell back up for a week or 2. Then finally last time i shaved it got so big it burst.

I hope it clears up soon and you recover quickly. I got a staph infection near my junk from sleeping on my friend's nasty sofa. Doc gave me some antibiotics and it drained within a week. After that first infection, I caught 2 other ones within 3 months. One on my abdomen and another inside my nose (****ty). Both were lanced, drained, and stuffed with medicated gauze. Be safe. Those infections are nothing to take lightly.

I just got over staph a few weeks ago....sucks man...antibiotics will have that stuff gone in a week though. It's really contagious though so yeah for EVERYHONES sake stay outta gym.

oh and go see the DOC, BECAUSE if you let it go too long you WILL get VERY sick...it can actually get pretty serious. If you're getting tired its the staph man.

I don't like you, but sorry about that. My hubby got MRSA in his heel. I've never seen him in so much pain. My kids, particularily my oldest son and daughter used to get boils here and there. I got one once in my nose. That really sucked. Doctor said it could have been MRSA, but couldn't know for sure without testing the puss. I started buying antibacterial bodywash, that's all we use, and no one has had a boil since. Something to think about.

Ive got a couple of them on my back and shoulders, and some on my arm. Also have a 2 inch scar on my knee from draining my knee when my leg swelled to twice its normal size. MRSA is a motherfukker!

MRSA is some ****ed up ****; I never heard of it till I started getting tattoos. They use a special soap that kills MRSA and I started inquiring more about it from then on.

And if doesnt clear up this time i have to go in for the real surgeriez. Today was more painful bc when he cut me he went even deeper into the armpit.

I'm telling you, man. Watch that ****. They used nearly 2 weeks of oral antibiotic with me and it didn't touch the MRSA. That is, if you really do have MRSA. My puss was black, like motor oil.

seriously I just sterified a needle and lanced it open, squeezed the **** out of it till my eyes watered up and had to keep doing it like 4 times a week for 3 weeks it seemed. Finally it just went away totally after gradually shrinking in size. I think mine was a simple boil, yours sounds more serious.

IV Zosyn

My infection was right on my shin bone.

Sorry to tell you but IV Zosyn is NOT the treatment for MRSA. Especially if its affected the bone, in which case its osteomyelitis (bone infection).
IV Vancomycin, linezolid, daptomycin are the treatment of choice for MRSA.

In regards to an earlier thread, there are lots of carriers of MRSA. Most people working in hospitals carry it in their nares (noses). People with weak immune systems (infection, HIV etc) are most at risk.
