Hey guys im doing a show on march, 22 i recently started to diet and ive heard alot of different things about cardio from different people, one person tells me incline walking is better, one says jogging is better ( i personally thing jogging is horrible for a competition cardio plan) and sprints people say are a god send. So i was just tryin to get a little feedback here on the bodybuilding forums. thanks guys

I think it would depend on your diet.
I don't think sprints (HIIT) + a keto diet would work out too well.
I would probably start with 2 days of Low intensity, and a day of HIIT and go from there..
I don't compete either, sure you will get some feedback from those who do

Well my diet breaks down like this right now:
Morning Breakfast - 3 eggs a cup of oatmeal
2-3 hours later - a protien bar
2 hrs later - Protien shake
lunch - Turkey wrapped in lettuce and a tangerine
2 hrs later - protien shake
pre workout - Chicken breast
Post workout - small potato and a protien shake
Dinner - usually some sort of chicken dish or fish ( generally tilapia )
When i was doing alot of cardio before the stairmaster was pretty awesome. but the new gym im at now is sooo oldschool and they dont have a stairmaster. gotta work with what ya got

I don't see what would be wrong with jogging unless your joints are hurting. Jogging is pretty much the same intensity as a high incline walk

The only reason i hear jogging can be some what bad for training for a competition would be that it can be some what catabolic and you could burn the same ammount of calories doing an incline walk...im not tryin to answer my own question here i just wanted to know what you guys think.

well if you burn the same amount of calories during an incline walk as your do while jogging, then they are equally "catabolic"
I'd say try some intervals though, try doing 10-15 intervals of 15 seconds absolute 100% intensity followed by 45 seconds at 50-60% intensity

At 14 or 15 weeks out you really need to define your plan and stick to it. Consistency will be the key. How much cardio you should do will also depend on how much weight you need to lose.
Without details, pics, etc. hard to advise properly.
Maybe start with HIIT 2x a week and see how that carries you for 2 or 3 weeks. If your fat loss stalls, add another session. HIIT is better for fat burning and retaining muscle, as compared to jogging if thats the only real answer you are looking for. Great to shred legs as well. Incline walking is a nice addition if the schedule allows and really squeezing the hammies/glutes on every step will help bring them out as well.
Not to switch topics, but think you need to clean up the diet as well. Far too many shakes and protein bars. You should be eating nothing but real food at this time. Doesnt appear to be much on the way of carbs or fat either. Until your diet is solid, the rest isn't going to matter as everything will be counterproductive. Need all aspects working together to get optimal results.

Thats a good point... this is my first competition and ive read some atricles and the encylopedia of arnold book to take some tips on dieting. that diet plan i put up isnt the exact layout of what im doing it was just kinda of a spur of the moment thought of what it looks like. As far as my weight training it is very good and from what the owner says my cardio is ok but he is just so god damn old school. Frank Zane worked out at this gym with a bunch of the other old timers that still work out there. So im trying to take some tips from them but alot of it seems REALLY outdated. ill put up some pics so mabye i can get some tips on what im lacking and need to improve on. Thanks guys!

Plus being in school really REALLY sucks. I already look strange enough walking around trying to juggle a protien shake bottle and a gallon of water. I try to eat as often as i can and get my meals in. But sometimes i cant sneak it. thankfully im one of the biggest kids in my school and nobody really says anything haha

Jogging isn't terrible. I wouldn't advise long distance running and I would keep the jogging to a couple of sessions a week tops.
I think jogging has a bad rap because many bodybuilder (certainly not all) are not in runing shape (esspecially the Flex Mag types). When they run they are mosly sugar burning. I've always run and can go for a low intensity jog. For some guys, the act of joggin automatically pushes them into a moderate to high intensity activity and it also kills their knees, lower back, hips and even neck.
No, your legs will not shrink if you jog 2 or 3times a week for 30 minutes...Sprints are good to work in but they are a leg workout. You must compensate for this with diet and recovery.
