I am in the process of getting a second opinion on my knee diagnosis. I had an MRI back in 5/08 because of lingering pain in my knee. The Doctor who did the MRI Report stated the following:
Medial Compartment - normal/everything intact
Intercondylar Notch - normal/everything intact
Lateral Compartment - normal/everything intact
Now, when he discussed the "Anterior Compartment" he stated:
In neutral position, the patella was adequately seated. Furthermore, in the summary it states "The Patella is adequately seated within the trochlear groove and the cartlilage is maintained without tear."
However, the findings did show a "small accessory ossicle" within the petellar tendon and/or a "small spur" projecting off the interior pole of the patella. He also stated that the Patellar tendon was mildly thickened.
When the Orthopedic Surgeon saw the report and the MRI, he felt the Bone Spur wasn't a big deal and that it is Runner's Knee. I do quite of bit of Knee Strengthening excercises and I just don't see any gains. So I am going to go get a second opinion from another OS who a few friends recommended and see what thinks about the my knee, in particular the Bone Spur.
Has anyone here ever had Bone Spurs in the knee?
Could this be a case where the OS misdiagnosed me with Runner's Knee, when the problem is Bone Spurs?
