I have a daughter that will be 16 next month and against her will I have made her go to the gym and workout for the past year. Don't get me wrong she hasn't put a 100% into it but she has been going. I plan on competing for the first time in May and she came up to me tonite and told me she also wishes to get on stage and compete in figure in May as well. Let me tell you it floored me! Especially when she ask me to help with her diet and lifting. I can't do much for her stage stuff but that's what I've got you ladies on this site for. I do plan on enlisting the help of a trainer to get her thru that part. I am so excited! I think it will be cool to have my daughter on the same stage.

That is awesome. Sometimes parents do just the right thing. Great for you pushing her. You must be proud. Take care and good luck in preparation.

Very cool!!! Grats to you on being an engaged parent. Sometimes you wonder what people are thinking when you see teens up to all sorts of trouble. You're case in point that yeah, it takes work and perserverance to be a parent. They don't just raise themselves.
Good luck with the competitions!

Give yourself a big pat on the back,Dad!......Nothing makes my heart jump like one of my adult children calling and asking "Hey Pop! you up for a bike ride today?"

My son told me yesterday just how much he loves to lift, and how he likes being bigger and stronger then all of his friends. He just turned 11 and is already squatting 75# (at 15 reps per set). He said that he and some of his friends from school were playing football yesterday (tackle), and that none of them can bring him down. I think I'm on my way to creating a monster.

That's fantastic . . . definitely warms your heart as a parent when your kids do things like that. I got my 8 and 6 year old started in the same martial arts school that I have done for years. It's a lot of fun to see them taking to it and getting excited about the art.

Good luck with it!

Thanks for all the comments. Sounds like many of us have the drive to be sure or children are taken care of mentally and physically. In todays world it is so easy for a child to be unhealthy and lazy. I am so glad that others share the same values. It warms my heart to see parents love their children enough to keep them healthy.

Thanks again, you guys mean the the world to me.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. We just bought a treadmill and the kids have been on it more than us. The kids are doing their first 5k next friday as part of a club. Thanksgiving weekend will be ice skating and swimming. (Mine are 8 & 4)

Healthy parents raise healthy kids, well done Dad!
