So, Ive been lifting for about 3 years but never cared about proper nutrition besides my PWO shake and protein intake. Now Im starting to care so heres the question:

My total grams of carbs for nutrition is supposed to be 217-245 being a split of 30/35/35 - Pro/Carb/Fat. This is from one of the mens health nutrition programs.

Now on the days I work out, my PWO shakes is 40 pro and 80 carb (40 dex 40 malto). If I follow that carb intake, i only have 137-165 grams of carbs remaining. Is this right?

Or is my 217-245 some sort of base line?

My bodyfat right now is really high but Im trying to gain a decent amount of muscle for the next 2.5 months before try to cut. That being said, I really really really dont want to add anything additional to my spare tire...

Second Question: I know PWO shakes are important after cardio, but what should the intake be? Right now im using 40g pro, 40g dex for a 1:1 ratio. Is this ok? Too much for post-cardio? Ive been burnig about 400-500 cals during cardio (so says the treadmill).

Final Question: Before bed I have been eating 1 whole egg and 3 egg whites and a teaspoon of peanut butter. Is this about right?

Thank you for all your help!!!

if your bodyfat is high, you should work on that first, not to mention that it's not realistic to put on "a decent amount of muscle" in 2.5 months, plus if your bodyfat is really high I doubt you'd notice it anyway. I'd definately try to lose some weight first. you'll notice the difference in lifting a lot more afterwards (cosmetically) which will make it more rewarding.

As in high, Im talking ~20%. But that aside, I started a 12 week program 3 weeks ago and I want to finish it. So, cosmetically, I dont really care. Im more concerned about my question regarding total carbs.

#1, Everything counts against totals.

#2, That's unnecessary for a cardio session. Those "calorie" readouts are always way too high.

#3, There are no rules.

So scrap the PWO shake after cardio?!

you can have a meal, a shake, nothing or whatever. but you absolutely don't need to dump a ton a sugar down.
