Hi all,

Am a 44 year old-been lifting for years. Did a competition last
August-dieted for 14 weeks. One thing I have noticed -was wondering
if anyone else has ever heard of this-my hair has gotten a lot
thinner since late last spring (beginning of diet). Was wondering
if anyone has ever heard of a correlation between hard dieting and
hair thinning?

this can happen and it's due to low bodyfat.

I thought it wasn't necessarily low body fat, but not a balanced diet with enough healthy fats?

But you may consider other factors too,
Stress can def. make you lose hair - I'm sure you had some of that going on lol
Or maybe how you are caring for it. A lot of heat use (blow dryer or straightener). ripping through knots when you brush..
Sometimes you can have fungi on your scalp (not that uncommon)
A change in hormones..

And I think seasonal shedding could possibly be a factor - I've read/noticed around fall hair tends to shed more..

Just a few ideas, good luck
