View Full Version : Shoulder Pain after Bench?

So after I do a set of benching, about 10reps 200+lbs i feel a pain. Its on my left shoulder, and a bit on the left side of my back, what is this? I feel the pain more than then burn in my chest?
(Its not that the weights to heavy)

Probably bad form. There is more to benching than pushing the weight up and down from your chest.
1.) Retract your shoulder blades and expand your ribcage. This should keep a natural arch in your lower back. It will take the focus off your delts and put more on your tris.
2.) Keep your ass on the bench.
3.) Push "back" with your legs.
4.) Keep your elbows more towards your body. Having them perpendicular is very rough on the shoulders. This will cause the bar to fall down by the nipples or a little below on most people.

I have similar issues and have been trying to get it fixed. Its shows that there is some instability in your shoulder.
I tried benching with a roller behind my back. This retracts my shoudler and seems to work better.
