I landed awkwardly after jumping for a rebound while playing basketball on saturday and hyperextended my knee. I felt a little pain when it happened, but after 20-30 seconds was able to continue playing basketball for another hour. All day saturday I felt a little pain (an awareness) nothing to prevent me from walking, so I wore a knee brace for support, took a voltaren, glucosomine/chondroitin, and fish oil. I workout regularly, mondays are my leg day, this is the first time I've hyperextended my knee, so I dont know how serious to treat this. I plan to push my leg workout to later in the week, dont do any cardio, and see how it feels. Anyone else had this problem and can share their experiance?

Bump...

So I did go to the gym today, did chest instead of legs, also did 20 minutes of cardio on the eliptical with little resistance. I don't have any pain, just an awareness that my knee is not normal, if there is swelling, it's light because it's hard to see. I don't know how serious to treat this, I am not going to play basketball for at least two weeks, but I still want to work out, and depending on how it feels by friday, I hope to do a leg workout focusing on hamstrings... I need some advice before I do any critical damage...

hmm hyperextended knees are funny.....basicallly its just another term for a sprain....although sprains can be different grades (1, 2, 3) it depends how badly you did it.....seems like yours isnt too bad though.....

I would lay off the heavy leg stuff this week, take some advil/anti-inflammatories and the glucosamine/chondroitin.....
I also have had great results with Cissus....stuff is amazing.....

Should be better in a week or two.....

You dont wanna get back into something as high impact as basketball too quickly or you will risk injuring it again if its not fully healed.....
