Have you experienced INTUITION?

Ever felt **IT** soo strong in your gut, you knew what to do, despite all reason...and you were RIGHT ???

Has it ever been wrong? & Why do you think it was?

I wouldn't say intuition...more feeling of impending doom. And I'm usually spot on with those ones.

Ha, I hate getting those feelings, because it's impossible to shake the "Oh jesus I'm so ****ed" feeling.

Believe it or not but a sense of impending doom is often felt shortly before a heart attack...just thought you might be interested :)

Hahahahaha, are you serious? Well that's encouraging.

I got them alot more when I worked the nightshift at Denny's.

Yes but technically they don't come before. It accompanies the early stages when there is usually a crushing pain in the chest. Hope you didn't feel that at Denny's although I can certainly understand why you would there :D

no but 20/20 hindsight lets me know when I've ignored red flags.

I've had it many times, never been wrong.

I trust gut instinct. What we call gut instinct is simply a culmination of all data perceived by your subconsious mind.

Whether your consious mind is aware of it or not we are constantly seeing things, analyzing, interpreting data. Whether it's a look on someone's face that makes us uneasy, or a car that seems to be driving a bit too eratically.

I don't believe "instinct" is based on emotion but rather outside stimuli. I read an article once where the author believed beyond a shadow of a doubt that facial expressions could be read. He believed that at times when our gut tells us something about a person it's because we are picking up subtle expressions in their face. I think in the same way we could possibly perceive these expressions perhaps our brain is capable of processing things so quickly on a subconsious level that it makes a valid and truthful interpretation quicker than we could using our own logic?

Interesting. How has this affected what you've done?
Especially when you worked the night shift? **scary...tried that a lil w a second job**

What sort of red flags?

Do you notice these things ahead of time now?

Any stories?

When you feel it, do you change what you were going to do?

Fascinating and well versed, well said.

I agree.

Any experiences with this?

I have on several occasions. Although some people wind up "forcing" intuition which will only discombobulate them furter more frequently so watch out.

my gut has almost always been right... though my inclination towards high hopes has won over my gut sometimes, and i convince myself that i am being pessimistic, and i've been left in the doldrums afterwards thinking, 'why didn't i just listen to myself?'

I absolutely agree with this...I read that "highly sensitive people" are more likely to have what is commonly called a 6th sense but is really just the ability to pick up on more signs (facial expressions, gestures, etc) therefore they seem to have that gut instinct. The subconsious processes things more quickly than the consious so it seems like intuition or gut feeling.

I think gut instinct goes beyond just reading facial expressions. What about feelings that something bad has happened or is going to happen? What about knowing where, time of day, who? It's still gut instinct that tells you something isn't right but maybe you can't put a face to a place, etc. I wouldn't go so far as to say that's psychic so it has to be gut instinct IMO.

If it's not "psychic" or a supernatural ability then it has to be a physiological one. Your senses are perceiving some danger. That's where I believe that your brain has the ability to make judgments on a subconsious level.

However, saying that, there are things we can't explain. I don't really think the word pyschic really applies here. We can't dive to deep into this without evoking some serious feelings from people. You'll find those that believe it's supernatural ability. You'll find those who believe that God is directly involved. It delvs into the realm of the supernatural whether it be spiritual or some other unexplained phenomenon.
