View Full Version : In all seriousness, what organization would pick up Kimbo at this point in his career

(SERIOUS)
What org would run the gambit of giving Kimbo any sort of contract?
I'll bet he's going to be willing to take a bit of a pay-cut after his poor performances vs. Petruzelli and Thompson..
Do you think he'll ever end up fighting Shamrock? This could very well be the end of Ken Shamrock.. Will it be the end of Kimbo too?
I dont know which organization would roll the dice with their credibility at this stage of the game... but if someone does pick Kimbo up I'll be happy. Here's why:
I hope Kimbo isn't done (no neg)..
Just seems wrong investing so much time, money and other resources into him as a fighter and now he can't compete.
I hope a ****ty org picks him up and he does what he should have done in the first place.. either work his way up or fall down the ranks swinging like every other fighter new to the game has done.
War 'bo.. we may have seen the last of him and some people are celebrating like we just defeated terrorism, but I would never mind him competing in a less popular organization and building up his skills if possible.
I will be pissed if Affliction, Strikeforce, or UFC pick Kimbo up.. He should not be exploited as a cash cow through hype because he will just end up getting merked in the ring..
However, oddly enough I can see him signing with Dream.. They won't hype **** about him they will just put him in the ring and test him from the get-go.

as a fight org youd have to be dumb not to pick kimbo up
hes been part of 3 of the top ten most watched fights in the history of american mma
he obv isnt going to be getting what he was a fight where ever he goes
but for him to still be able to sell merch and sponsership money its worth it
for ufc and affliction the main issue is they dont have anyone tht kimbo could even last a round with
strike force and king of the cage seem ike the only options
where kimbo wouldnt go 0-3 and out

Something tells me that just changed after getting KO'ed in 14 seconds. Sadly, the "freak show" draw he gets isnt there anymore.

He will be in UFC by the end of the year. Kimbo is a disgrace to mma but he = $$$ and Dana knows it. So what Dana talked **** about him. Business is business.

Dana doesn't operate like that. He will talk **** one week and the next week he will love the guy. If the person is in, or might be joining, his stable of fighters they are awesome, if they are somewhere else, they suck ass.

Kimbo may have generated big viewing figures on CBS, but are there really enough people who would buy his fights on PPV to justify the cost of signing him? After his aura was shattered by his last fight, I kinda doubt it.
Unless of course he offers to sign for very little cash. But that would assume he was fighting for the love of the sport rather than the $$$ and I think we all know that's not true.

You all know that Proelite Inc owns KOTC
Some reports are saying that Proelite Inc is folding which means EliteXC, Cage Rage, Icon Sport, King of the Cage are all shut down.
Also CBS has stakes in ProElite Inc. Do not know how much

Ah, that's a train wreck waiting to happen....lol.
Honestly, Kimbo has had his 15 minutes of fame.....but he's a flash in the pan on the big stage, I beleive.
I like Kevin Fergison (sp) the man.....Kimbo the money train, I can't stand. I hope he does well and makes his way up to the top....but let's be realistic about it and quit making him a headliner

Two to three years of serious training (will put him a bit too old) and I'd support the money train.

I agree that he is too old to really work his way up....but can we find a happy medium between tossing someone with zero experiance into a main event and having him wait 10 years to get up to speed...lol

I ignore why so many people do not understand this. I totally agree with you.
Elite XC was doing some "sort of" competition to the UFC due among other things having Kimbo in their roster.
Kimbo is a cash cow. Many of my friends were always asking me about Kimbo last fight. They never ask about Fedor, Randy, Arlovsky, ect. (They don't even know who does guys are)
I just want to see if Dana will do the same mistake twice. He must either exploit kimbo or destroy him at once.

If UFC signs Kimbo they need to sign him for one fight, maybe two.
They have absolutely nobody who they can put him up against who won't outright curbstomp him. Once his fans buy in and see him get wrecked they won't buy again.
Unless UFC decides to sign some chumps too for him to fight, and I don't think they're that desperate for money that they'll throw away their reputation.

He's already been exploited and Dana hates everything this guy stands for. I think reputation exceeds cash cow freak shows in this scenario.

Strikeforce - would make sense because they were close with Pro Elite...
Affliction - would make sense if they payed him a bit less and put him lower on the card against greener opponents... it would be a win win for the "sport" and kimbo and it would def help their ppv buys...
Dream - but they would probably just throw him into freak show matches (maybe worse than elite xc lol)
UFC - dont see it happening..
King of the Cage - Meh
im curious what will happen with A. Silva... if he is cleared of the drug charges i would like to see him in the UFC...
EDIT:
kimbo to the wwe.......
lol this seriously wouldnt be a bad idea... he could make alot of money and be a huge draw for them... it seems like he genuenly loves the sport though so i doubt he wants to get away just yet...
