My girl is a type 1 diabetes and she needs to lose weight, now low carbs diet for her makes her blood level low or high i guess and she needs to get sugar in which she trying avoid.
I don't know if this is acurate but this is what i understood, is there anyway type 1 diabetes can lose weight ?
any help would be appreciated.
Thanx

As I understand diabetics can sometimes go into a hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) state and can require sugars or carbs at times to maintain a proper blood sugar level.
Though, this is not always a constant need. Also, I couldn't imagine the amount of carbs and/or sugar needed too maintain would be so much as to interfere with a reasonable, non-keto diet.
Why don't you ask a physician instead of a bunch of people who are afraid of eating a strawberry because they're on a cut and firmly believe that "fructose makes you fat bro"?

x2 on this one. My brother has diabetes and my grampa had it. Your g/f should talk to her diabetes doctor about this and they should be able to set up a meeting with a nutritionist.

Im a type one,
Before even considering losing weight, she needs to get control of her blood sugar levels. She should test her BS level more often and figure out her carb/Insulin unit ratio. And once she has good control, its all about cals in VS cals out.
It's a myth that type one diabetics can't eat carbs, I'm eating 485 a day :)
