Happy Tuesday all! :)

I recieved my material from Derek back in JULY; right around the time I discovered a local resource. Fast-forward to some really stressful events at work and a total derailing off of my diet wagon and I found myself back to 200+ lbs and totally depressed over the fact that even though I work out 5-6x a week I can't lose weight AT ALL unless I eat clean, all of the time. I kept Derek's email in my Yahoo and pulled it out, printed it out, and started yesterday :D I have yet to send him my numbers because I don't want to step on the scale! :( I know that I have to keep track of my progress, though, so I'll step on it tomorrow ;)

I know I need to eat a little more, and track my cals and macros -- I am gently reintroducing myself to journaling the RIGHT way :) I started the ATS (chest/back) and jotted down my meals:

#1: 4 oz 95% lean beef, 1 whole egg, 2 egg whites cooked in Pam Olive Oil Spray, 1/2 cup mixed veggies
#2: 3 oz baked salmon, 1/2 cup mixed veggies, 10 raw almonds
#3: 1 cup lowfat cottage cheese, about 1/4 cup salsa, 10 alomonds
#4: 3 oz baked salmon, 1/2 cup mixed veggies, 10 raw almonds
#5: A few sips of VERY OLD chocolate protein powder in water

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Workout:
DB BENT OVER ROW: 2x30'sx10
DB BENCH PRESS: 30'sx10, 35'sx6/30'sx4
I love the weights that can be slung, when the reps go down :cool:
WG LAT PULLDOWN: 2x100x6
DB INCLINE BP: 25'sx10, 30'sx10
I felt strong on the inclines
1-ARM DB ROW: 2x25'sx10
This is a little different than what Derek put down, because I worked out at the little gym tonight (at 8:20 pm, lol) and there is less equipment there.
DECLINE FLYES: 2x15'sx10
This is the first time I have ever done a decline movement ... so bizarre
CLOSE-GRIP LAT PULLDOWN: 2x75x10
BENCH DIPS: 2xBWx6
CARDIO: Treadmill
20 minutes LISS
I am doing more cardio than what the program calls for because I NEED IT! :o I will overcome!
Or should it be Kill-Me-O? :eek:
45 minutes of spinning ... this is my third time in this class and although I still poop out before the last hill climbs I get a great workout. All my clothes were drenched! :o
Eats:
#1: 1 whole egg, 2 egg whites, 1 95% lean burger (eggs and burger are so GOOD together)
#2: 1 cup lowfat cottage cheese, 10 almonds, a little salsa
#3: 6 oz chicken, about 1 tbsp salsa, 1/2 cup mixed veggies
#4: 1/2 cup lowfat cottage cheese, 10 almonds, salsa
#5: Post wo smoothie: 2 scoops whey, 10 oz very cold water, ice, 3.5oz frozen blueberries blended in a mixer (oh, it was soooo good!)
I may eat something later, but I am tired, lol :p
Also, I did the dreaded weigh-in today and yep, I'm up to 205 lbs :( Hopefully I can lose 55 lbs fast, and keep them off! How? By not eating what Rick eats! lol :o
I did alot of exercises that are new to me tonight. Therefore, I am unsure how good or bad my form was! :o
Barbell Curl: 2x40x10
My wrists were bothering me a little while I did these ... I know it's from the heavy DB work on Monday night. The BB does not tweak my wrists. I need to make a better effort to get to this gym no matter how late I work, so I can do my chest presses with the BB or Smith.
Close Grip BP: 2x50x10
I used the same kind of BB that I used for my curls. I should have probably used the regular BB, lol.
DB Curl: 15'sx10, 20'sx10
I wanted to use the 20's for both sets, but we have just 1 set of 20's and someone else was using them for the 1st set.
Skull Crushers: 2x30x10
This is a new exercise for me. If I have decent DOMS tomorrow or Friday, that should be an indication that I hit my triceps well enough.
Cable Curl: 35x10, 45x10
The first set was way light! :eek:
Cable Tricep Pushdown: 45x10, 55x10
I wanted to use the machine, but dangit someone else beat me to it! :o
BB Wrist Curl: 2x20x10
DB Wrist Curl: 2x10'sx10
Wrist curls are totally new to me. I don't know if I did them right -- I will have to check them here on bb.com. I hope my wrists get stronger or something -- heavier DB's sometimes will irritate them.
Cardio: Treadmill
20 minutes LISS. I would like to go 30, but I'm still recovering from last night's spinning adventure. I will proabably spin tomorrow night as well. Am I sick or what??? lol :p
#2: 2 scoops whey in water, 10 almonds
#3: 2 whole eggs, 1 Kroger Carb Master yogurt, 1/2 cup green beans
#5: (TBE) 5 oz canned chicken, salsa, 1/2 cup green beans, 10-15 peanuts.
I was supposed to have another meal between 3 and 4, but just was not hungry before I went to the gym. Of course, I was ravenous after spinning! Tomorrrow I will try my best to make 6 meals! :o
#1: 1 whole egg, 2 egg whites, 1/2 cup green beans
#2: 20 almonds, 2 scoops whey in water
#3: 6 oz chicken, 1/2 cup aspharagus, salsa, 10 almonds
#4: 2 whole eggs, 1/2 cup aspharagus, 1 cup Kroger Carb Master yogurt
#5: CHEAT MEAL: 4 pieces Supreme pizza, root beer
I am on the 2-set A.T.S. this week
LEG PRESS: 180x10, 270x10
I will increase 1 plate per side next week. I went ass to ankle on these.
SLDL: 2x85x10
BB SQUATS: 75x8, 85x8
I did not go really deep, but my knees behaved, which is the important part. For anyone who has not kept track in my OV35 journal, I have had knee issues with squats.
LYING LEG CURL: 2x60x10
I haven't done these in a while. This is not my favorite exercise to be sure, but it is effective for hammies :)
NAUTILUS LEG EXTENSION: 80x10, 90x10
The first set especially felt light; will increase 10 next week.
NAUTILUS SEATED LEG CURL: 2x100x10
SEATED CALF RAISE: 2x70x10
STANDING CALF RAISE: 2x120x10
CARDIO: Treadmill
20 minutes of very light steady state (3.4 mph)
I can tell, already, a difference in how I feel (my energy is OMG!!!) and pants/skirts are getting looser :D
BTW your suggestion concerning leg presses before squats is working very well right now. I am also going to keep my squatting at a fairly low rep range ... in my case it's when I do high reps when my knee gives out. Wierd, huh? :confused:
Thanks Joe! I decided that it's easy to think positively, and it's easy to eat right. I think we all make this harder than it has to be. You just gotta say "no" to certain things, and "yes" to others ;)
Rick and I went to Red Lobster for lunch today. I had the lunch portion salmon steak with aspharagus for a side. I also had about 1/2 of the premeal salad (tossed w/ranch dressing). They drowned the salad w/the dressing (I forgot to ask her to bring it on the side, lol). I love croutons but did not eat them. There were also the infamous Red Lobster buscuits (I had to turn my eyes and nose away from those) :eek:
The one cheat meal per week is a good idea, mentally as well as physically necessary. I had my cheat last night (pizza and root beer!) so this was not a cheat ... it was as healthy as R.L. food goes. The only bad thing about it is the fact they drizzle everything with butter, lol.
It's more possible to have a healthier meal at a restaurant like that, than at, say, McDonalds. hehe
Today's eats:
#1: 1 whole egg, 2 egg whites, 1 superlean burger, 6.5 oz pink grapefruit. Hehehe, I was afraid of trying the grapefruit because I hate yellow gf. This was really delicious, though! I got a few more for this week :D
#2: The Red Lobster lunch. It was as healthy as restaurant food goes, but the fat was too high because of the butter and ranch dressing ... 1 grilled salmon steak, a side of aspharagus, 1/2 of a small salad w/ranch dressing.
#3: Protein smoothie -- 2 scoops whey (I can't wait to get my Scivation whey!), 3.5 oz frozen strawberries, 10 oz water, about 3 ice cubes mixed in my blender. Heaven! :p
#4: 2 boiled eggs, 1/2 cup aspharagus, 2 tbsp salsa, 1 cup Kroger Carb Master yogurt
#5: 1 can chicken meat, a little salsa, 10 raw almonds (to be eaten later tonight)
It took several weeks before I got mine ... but that was last summer, not long after he first offered the program to bb.com members. It was crazy for him! Hopefully things are a little more sane for Derek, so you'll get your program within a couple of weeks.
I found a local resource around that time, but it was too expensive for me to continue. The products were good, though. But this is much much more reasonable. I started the diet and workouts last Monday. I ordered some Scivation whey yesterday from here.
As a matter of fact, I've got to send my pics and info to Derek sometime soon. Lazy me! lol :p
I feel so good right now. My energy is good and I can tell I am already getting results from it :) I think you'll love it!
I did not have alot of time to work out today, so I had to shorten the workout. I skipped the rear cable lateral, prone shrugs & cardio... I will add the shoulder exercises to tomorrow's workout, and cardio on my Wednesday off-day :)
DELTS:
Military Press: 2x65x8
I am pleased with my progress on the Militaries.
DB Side Laterals: 2x10'sx10
TRAPS:
BB Shrug: 2x65x10
DB Shrug: 20'sx10, 30'sx10
I have never done shrugs before, but I think I got the form on them. I did not even know what the prone shrug is, but someone posted a vid on here and it seems pretty simple. I am also unsure how to perform the rear cable lateral ... hopefully there's a video on this site.
ABS:
Decline Crunch: 2xBWx6 :eek:
Holy Mother of God, these are hard! I was barely able to finish 6 reps on the 2 sets :o
Leg Raises: 2xBWx60
These were also hard; I have never done them before. As you can see, I hate training abs! :p
LOWER BACK:
Back Extension: 2x160x10
"Sprint" Torso Twist: 2x40x10
I haven't done the torso twist in years
Morning Penney!
Nice job on the eating out choices. I have found that Outbacks has a good clean meal option to pick from also.
Eats and work outs look great! Go rock em! :D
All steak houses are good. Steak is good :D
I am making the effort to cook alot on the weekends when we're home .. that way I can fix Rick things like french toast & buscuits/gravy -- and I can fix my clean stuff :) That way, when we do go out it's not too hard to get him to go to places that serve healthier choices (which, of course, are pricier than the junky carb-loaded places, lol).
I don't mind the extra cooking at all. I think Rick felt bad that I have to cook extra, but it's worth it when I don't have to eat out so much!
Red Lobster sounds good, I'm hungry!!!!
LOL! I am not a big fan of Subway. Red Lobster is da bomb. I just wish they wouldn't butter everything. Still, I think it was a relatively clean meal.
ATS 3-set week
BB BENT OVER ROW: 3x60x10
It was pretty easy to do the 60 lbs, so I'll up it to 70 next week :D
BB BENCH PRESS: 65x10, 75x10, 85x8
The last set I used a spotter because I could not lift the bar off the bench handles :o However, the reps were all me!
ASSISTED CHINS: 2x-100x6, -110x6
Yep, I still suck at this one! :o I guess there's always at least one movement that is very very challenging :eek:
BB INCLINE BENCH PRESS: 55x10, 65x10, 70x10
I feel more secure with the inclines, cause if I fail I can just sit the bar in my lap! lol
SEATED CABLE ROW: 2x70x10, 80x10
Probably my favorite row-type exercise
DECLINE DB FLYES: 3x10x10's
I kept these very light because I am so new at decline movements. I will keep them light for a couple of weeks, then I'll up them :)
LAT PULLDOWN: 100x6, 2x90x8
I was getting pretty tired at this point. Still, I was happy to do the 6 reps @ 100 lbs.
ASSISTED DIPS: -100x6, 2x-110x6
Holy mother of God -- both this and the dips are soooo hard :eek: Humbling to the max!
CARDIO: Treadmill
20 minutes LISS. I was going to make up the rest of last night's shoulder exercises but decided against it because I was tired --- very little sleep last night. I did light cardio tonight because tomorrow is SPINNING!!!!!!!!!! bwa-ha-ha! :D
Hi Penny! I came to see your new journal. I'm not sure what exactly this new thing is that you're doing but I hope it works!
Hey Mel! :) This is the Scivation CHA (Carb Haters Anonymous) diet. Many people have reported such good success with it that I decided to give it a whirl. It is super easy to follow, and I'm not hungry!
morning penney - good on keeping the eats clean - I noticed not really a dinner to speak of (a shake instead) is this normal?
Yeah, in my case it is, because the shake is PWO and 7-8 in the evening. I usually have a more solid meal 5ish in the afternoon which would make it suppery (last night I just switched my afternoon shake and meal). The last meal is right before I go to bed! :eek:
He's coping pretty well right now, Sandy :) I kind of had to put my foot down to make him understand this is the way I want to eat. I fix "regular" meals for him on the weekend & don't mind doing it. During the week I get home about 3.5 hours later than he does, so he's been getting suppers on his own (usually takeout, lol :rolleyes: ) I've been buying lunchmeat and soups for him as well. I got my Scivation whey today; yipee!!!! :D Rick and I went somewhere tonight, so I did not try it till we got home.
I wanted to make sludge, but the natty pb that I pulled out of the refrigerator was hard as a rock :o So, I made a "sludge shake" instead: 2 scoops of the choco whey, 2 tbsp peanut butter, 3.5 oz. frozen blueberries, water, a little ice. It was yummy!
Next time I will sit the natty pb out for a little bit before I make sludge, so it'll be stirable :o
I did not go to the gym today.
Spouses/sos can really kill a diet program. He never had a problem with my gym time, but when it came to food he was a real b!cth! He'd say "it is such a PITA when you eat this way" :rolleyes:
It was either me putting my foot down, or giving up -- eating with and like him, and ballooning back to 268 lbs :eek: It's unfair how some people can eat like that and not become huge, but that's the way it is. I was threatening to do many more things without him after a while because I was getting so frustrated, and I think he got the message.
I am really proud of you! - he will appreciate this not only in how hot you will be looking but you will be more active/have more energy (lol although my old bones still complain :p ) but most importantly your health will be better so you can live longer and be a PITA to him for many years to come! :D
I forced clean eating or whole foods eating on my family quite a few years ago...it was not carb deficient but we stopped eating processed foods and got our carb sources from high fiber whole foods and vegs. It was tough but when I was at 220 (with two babies) I didn't think I would be alive to see them become adults - and my husband had no choice in the matter.
now we all eat like that - very little processed foods (some cereals and salty snacks for the kids - but not much) - my kids read food labels and understand the good food choices and the bad. My son pointed out a morbidly obese woman in the grocery store one time and asked how that happened and I said "look at her grocery cart and then look at ours"
he will bitch for a while but ignore him...stay focused and show him up later!!
eats look nice and clean! I get bored with chicken a lot - not sure if you are allowed soups on this plan...lately I have been cooking up jenno 99% lean ground turkey up ahead of time and bagging it into portions and taking this light progresso veggie soup to work and mixing together for one of my lunches (with some nuts for fat) - and then a bar for a later meal.
have a great day!!!
I got my Scivation whey today; yipee!!!! :D Rick and I went somewhere tonight, so I did not try it till we got home.
I wanted to make sludge, but the natty pb that I pulled out of the refrigerator was hard as a rock :o So, I made a "sludge shake" instead: 2 scoops of the choco whey, 2 tbsp peanut butter, 3.5 oz. frozen blueberries, water, a little ice. It was yummy!
Next time I will sit the natty pb out for a little bit before I make sludge, so it'll be stirable :o
I did not go to the gym today.
Today's eats:
#1: 1 egg, 2 egg whites, 1 lean burger, 6.5 oz pink grapefruit
#2: 5 oz. white meat chicken, 1 cup green beans, 2 tbsp salsa, 10 almonds
#3: 2 boiled eggs, 1 Kroger Carb Master yogurt, 5 almonds
#4: 1 grilled chicken breast, 1/2 cup cottage cheese, about 1/2 cup green beans
#5: The sludge shake (ingredients posted above)
Awesome!
All that protein, is it helping keeping you full and curbing cravings?
Very happy for you Penney!
I fully intend to be Rick's PITA indefinitely! Someone's gotta do it, lol ;)
That is the true reason to do this ... for our health. Hehehe, of course I want to look better, too (I would so love to look HOT in a bikini) but life is not enjoyable if you are not healthy enough to enjoy it.
I forced clean eating or whole foods eating on my family quite a few years ago...it was not carb deficient but we stopped eating processed foods and got our carb sources from high fiber whole foods and vegs. It was tough but when I was at 220 (with two babies) I didn't think I would be alive to see them become adults - and my husband had no choice in the matter.
When we grill out (which now, because it gets dark so early, is mainly on the weekends) our food is healthy. Winter eats (like sandwiches and stuff, of course chips) are not as much. I try to get him to eat broccoli and he says he does not like broccoli (but oh he loves the potatoes).
I am in awe of you for converting your hubby and kids, Sandy!!! :eek:
now we all eat like that - very little processed foods (some cereals and salty snacks for the kids - but not much) - my kids read food labels and understand the good food choices and the bad. You can say she was caught grocery-carted! :p It is so true that it does not boil down to your body type, gender or age ... it boils down to what goes down your gullet.
he will bitch for a while but ignore him...stay focused and show him up later!!
He has stopped the bitching for now ... I know he is still not happy about it. He'll ask me on the phone when I'm coming home when he knows when I'll be home ... then he'll say he'll wait to eat. I tell him to eat before I get home. I hope this doesn't sound cold! But, if I eat with him chances are we'll go to Chinese or some other takeout which is unhealthy. It's so tough to make those choices sometimes. I hope he does eventually, truly, accept my eating style.
For the most part I'm not hungry, Brian. Last night though, Rick and I went out shortly after I got home for a meditation class. We went to Frisch's and I ordered a grilled chicken breast fillet w/salsa to dip, cottage cheese and green beans, with unsweetened iced tea to drink. We were out for about 3.5 hours. I was STARVING by the time I got home. My suspicion ... I needed to down a few almonds for fat! It's the fats that keep me satisfied. I make sure I carry some almonds in my purse now! :p
Fats are calorie-dense but it is carbs that really put the fat on our bodies because of it's hormonal response to it. Sugars cause our pancreas to release insulin ... which in turn feeds our cells. Whatever is not used goes to fat stores, which insulin is also involved in.
Hope your afternoon is going great, Penney!
Anyway, here is what I ate instead:
#1: 1 egg, 2 egg whites, 1 lean burger with lots of seasoning, 6.5 oz pink grapefruit
#2: 2 scoops Scivation whey in water, 10 almonds
#3: 5 oz canned chicken, 1 cup green beans, 2 tbsp salsa, 10 almonds
#4: 2 boiled eggs, 1 Kroger Carb Master yogurt, 5 almonds
#5: 2 scoops vanilla whey (not Scivation), 3.5 cup frozen mixed berries, water, ice blended.
#6: Not sure ... perhaps I'll have 1 egg & 2 whites, seasoned, with 1/2 cup veggies. Either that, or 1 cup of cottage cheese with the veggies.
I also did cardio today ... 45 minutes of spinning fun :D Tomorrow I'm back to the iron! :D
I woke up with a sore throat this morning, which I attributed to acid reflux. The sore throat has held on throughout the day, I went home from work early and I am really really tired. I have noticed it's been harder to get out of bed for the past couple of days. My tummy has been a little upset, too.
I hope I'm not coming down with the flu! :eek: I know the draggy feeling could be from the fact that I am in ketosis and my body is adjusting to running off of fats instead of carbs ... but the sandpapery throat is telling me a different story :( Dang it!
I took a nap when I came home for a couple of hours. Felt better, but my throat is still rough. I am still going to try to make to to the gym for a late workout. If not ... I'll finish the remaining 3 days of my 4-day split Sat, Sun, Mon and start the 4-set workout on Wednesday instead of Monday.
I did not get to the gym today, so I had just 5 meals
#1: 1 egg, 2 egg whites, lean burger, 6.5 oz pink grapefruit
#2: 2 scoops Scivation choco whey in water, 10 almonds
#3: 5 oz roasted chicken mixed in 6 tbsp guacamole & 2 tbsp salsa (OMG this was delicious)
#4: 2 eggs, 1 Kroger Carb Master yogurt, 5 almonds
#5: Sludge shake (OMG delicious ... 2 scoops choco whey, 2 tbsp natty pb, 3.5 oz frozen strawberries, water, ice blended). This is so much better with strawberries. It's like Reese's with strawberries! :p
The sore throat thing is just a speed bump, Joe ;) It is much better today. I am resting one more day to make sure it does not come back. Tomorrow it's back to the gym. I am going to repeat the 3-set week since Chest/Back was the only one I was able to do last week :o (from outside things and getting sick, lol) But I spun twice, so my lower body got some work in, at least! Yesterday (Saturday 10/25) was a very bizarre day for me. For starters, I was sick with a sore throat, my energy was just not there (beginning ketosis, anyone?) and I was not hungry at all, all day.
It was cheat meal day, so I went to breakfast with Rick and had an omelet w/3 whole eggs, cheese, salsa, a tiny amount of bacon and diced tomatoes. I asked the waitress not to bring toast or hash browns ... she brough hash browns anyway ... sigh ... it took all of my strength to scrape them off of my plate and set them aside! They looked sooooo good :o Nice and carby and greasy (yes they make hash browns right). But we were going to a Halloween party later that day, so I wanted to save my carbs for later ;)
I did not eat until we got to the party. I was not hungry all day :eek: I poked at different snacky things all night at the party (some killer taco dip) so yeah I ate all night ... had about 3 glasses of wine, then coffee and water later ;) It was nice to not diet for a little while but I'm raring to go back to the saddle today :) I like eating clean. I feel better when I do so.
Low carbing is such a paradox. At least at first, your energy is ****. Part of the reason why I'm not feeling so great is because I am tired ... it's harder getting up in the morning, harder even to climb stairs. I know once the switch is in place my energy will be better (I hope so! lol)
The nice thing about this is ... I am not hungry! I have to force meals down my throat. I am getting ready to fix my normal eggs and burger breakfast and I am not hungry. I will still have to eat it! Frankly, though, it's nice not being hungry for once!
I will post my eats later tonight! :)
#1: 1 egg, 2 egg whites, lean burger, 1/2 pink grapefruit
#2: 4 oz salmon, 1/2 tossed salad w/a LITTLE ranch dressing, 1/2 cup mixed veggies (I was a good girl and tossed the carrots out of the veg mix, and threw the croutons out of the salad! :eek: )
#3: 4 oz salmon, about 1/2 cup mixed veggies (broccoli and cauliflower)
#4: Protein smoothie: 2 scoops vanilla whey, 3.5 oz. frozen mixed fruit, ice water mixed in blender
#5: about 1/2 cup mixed nuts, 2 vodka tonics (oops! :o )
Hi Penney,
I got busy lately and finally made it in here. Football season basically over and BB season starts next week. I will miss the first several games working in the evening.
I didn't go back and see how this new program is doing for you...sorry. How bout some cliff notes. :)
I've been up and down on trying to get to the point of seeing abs again. Too many of those "special" days. Red Lobster's endless shrimp is a lie...:) They cut me off after 70. But, dang they were good.
Good luck on the new program.
Hi Penney,
I got busy lately and finally made it in here. Football season basically over and BB season starts next week. I will miss the first several games working in the evening.
I usually get home to late to watch, too. The Internet is a beautiful thing, lol ;o
I didn't go back and see how this new program is doing for you...sorry. How bout some cliff notes.
Okay ... here are some Cliffs
About 3 weeks ago, I started Scivation's diet and workout program. Because of the stress and stuff happening over the summer, I gained more than 20 lbs and was totally out of control with my eating. I did start a lowfat regimen that was working pretty well, but I struggled with hunger and the program was very expensive. So, I stopped it and gained all the weight back that I lost on it :rolleyes:
This program is lowcarb, but different than Keto. I have lost just a couple of pounds so far, but I feel better and I am slowly leaning out. The workout is a 4-day split, starting with 2 sets per exercise and ending with 2 weeks of 5 sets per exercise, 6-10 reps, antagonistic body parts (example, chest and back day)
We're allowed just one cheat meal per week. So far I'm doing pretty good with this.
I've been up and down on trying to get to the point of seeing abs again. Too many of those "special" days. Red Lobster's endless shrimp is a lie... They cut me off after 70. But, dang they were good.
Good luck on the new program.
BB BENT OVER ROW: 60x10, 2x70x10
Up 10 on this one. Woot! :D
DB BENCH PRESS: 25'sx10, 2x30'sx10
Mondays are the official Chest day! lol The gym was super busy tonight and there was not an empty BB bench in sight. Both Smith machines and the Hammer Strength machines were in use. There was one bench left over for DBs that I swear was made for people 6' and over :rolleyes: I also started w/the 25's when I should have started w/the 30's. Next week if this happens again I'll remember to start with the 30's.
I think I am going to have to talk myself into liking this exercise, lol :o Drop sets work better in this case.
BB INCLINE PRESS: 55x10, 65x10, 75x8
SEATED CABLE ROW: 80x10, 90x10, 100x10
:D Another PR tonight
DECLINE DB FLYES: 2x15'sx10, 15'sx8
I am NOT liking the decline movement, lol. It could be because it's still awkward. I'll give it another couple weeks.
LAT PULLDOWN: 2x100x6, 90x8
ASSISTED DIPS: -120x10, -110x9, -100x7
dumbbell chest presses are harder than barbell or machine - obviously cuz you have to stabilize the weight independantly - I am doing DBs now and find I had to cut back quite a bit on weight lol.
DB chest presses are harder, and they are my favorite way to bench press :) My only complaint about them is that they're also harder on my, um, mature wrists, lol :o
Hey, that's a great gravy idea! And yes, gravy is one of the most difficult things to cook (you wouldn't think so, you know????) :p
We got a 47" HDTV last month so we're watching alot of TV right now ... it's very easy to crack open a bottle of wine, or whip out the vodka and diet tonic water, and watch TV, and keep on drinking :p Damn that stuff goes down too easy!
Happy Tuesday!
I'm suprised as well ... my cals are around 1750 or so (for me that isn't real low because my metabolism is so darn slow) but my carbs are very low ... last time I lowcarbed my energy just totally went away :eek: I think it's the higher protein on this diet that helps with my energy levels :)
It's okay, Hoos.
We just found out, today, that Gannett is laying off about 10% of their entire staff. That's nation-wide, not just here. There is a small severance package that goes with it.
It is an involuntary layoff :eek: According to my source the hit will be felt in the editorial (sports, news) departments instead of Advertising, which got hit last summer.
Gawd, the economy is so bad :( I remember when I first entered the workforce in 1980 that it was bad, but it is worse now. It is scary.
Hey Tiff! The economy is very scary right now -- hopefully things will go on an upswing soon.
Spinning is something that I have fallen in love with, unexpectedly :o A couple of months ago I was kickboxing and the instructor was on vaca -- spinning is offered the same time so I tried it. I have been going every since :o It is really hard! I love it, lol
I put going back to school on hold for now, largely because the money from my pension is not available unless I leave the company. Things are not looking good for my company and I would not be suprised if more layoffs will occur. If they do and I get hit, I know I have just enough in my pension after penalties to get an Associate's in Nursing (or another good field).
So, really I am covered (despite the fact that I would probably have to declare bankruptcy if I get laid off, lol) :o
What I like about the spinning are the intervals .. and when we find a flat road it isn't too bad :p The StairMonster ... lol .. is hard no matter what level it's put on :p
We have layoffs comming too...a lot of them...my group is safe (far as I know) but this is a major reorg for a couple different divisions...it really sucks...so does the economy - nothing to do but hunker down and ride it out
Yep, you're right ... it gets very tempting to quit, but there's nothing else to fall back upon.
keep up the good work and the good eats...is you energy coming back at all yet??
My energy is great right now! :) Despite the low carbs! Hopefully my energy is here to stay.
Isn't today the 79th anniversary of Black Friday? :eek: lol
This is my Week 2 ATS arms workout:
BB CURL: 40x10, 50x10, 60x2/50x6
The 2 reps at 60 is a PR. I was rockin' it on the curls! I'm so glad my energy is so good despite the low carbs and cals.
CG BP: 45x10, 50x10, 60x10
I used the empty Oly bar for the first set, and found it rather awkward. The smaller BBs work much better for this exercise.
DB CURL: 2x20'sx10, 25'sx6
I am slowly getting stronger on these. The 30's will be a PR ... I think I may be able to hit that in a couple of weeks :)
SKULL CRUSHER: 3x30x10
I am keeping the weight low 'till I know for certain my form is correct. I was watching some guy do skulls after I was done, and I think I may need to go further behind my head.
CABLE HAMMER CURLS: 60x10, 65x10, 70x6:D
Woot! All weights are PRs -- I was seeing how heavy I can go on these. It was pretty hard at 70 lbs, lol :p
TRICEP PD MACHINE: 100x10, 110x10, 120x10
I was so glad to be able to use this machine tonight ... it's one of my favorites :)
BB FOREARM CURL: 3x20x10
I am still unsure about the form with these as well, so the weight was light
DB FOREARM CURL: 3x10'sx10
I am still unsure about these, too ... I have never trained forearms before. I really need to find some vids!
CARDIO: Treadmill
20 minutes LISS. The plan was to go 30, but when some lady came up between another lady and myself, and told us to watch putting our purses in our trunks because there has been a rash of robberies ... well, I've been locking my purse in the trunk :eek: I got off the treadmill and got it out. I guess I'll have to carry all of my stuff with me for now on :rolleyes:
Tomorrow ... more spinning!
Great workout yesterday Penney!!! :)
I think anyone would get a rash if they put their purse in there trunks, that would be a real trick in someone wore a thong. ;) he he!!! Sorry, I couldn't help myself. :D
Hope today is a great day for you.......:)
Hi Penney! :) Wow, you're already on page eight before I find your journal?!
How are things going so far with Scivation? I hope you are able to meet your goals. It's tough when there's so much stress.
I'm sorry about the layoffs at Gannett. Car dealerships are dropping like flies also. Brian is hoping not to have to lay anyone off, but has set out a plan post holiday season just in case he does have to lay anyone off. He's cutting back everything he can to try to avoid it. It really bothers Brian a lot (as it should everyone) because it adversely effects people's lives so much.
Hopefully after the election (and it can't come soon enough for me because I can't take listening to much more! :D ) things will settle down a bit. Brian thinks it will be at least another year or so..... :eek:
Awesome job on the workout!! Yikes about the purses! I used to think it was strange when I saw women carrying their purses from machine to machine in the gym. Maybe that's why! :eek: :D
Happy Thursday!!
Thanks sweetie! :) Right now I feel on top of the world with this program. It is great! And the diet is so easy to follow. You may wanna consider it ... we'd love to have you here!
Thanks Sandy! :) My energy is very good. I think my bod has made the switch.
I have not lost alot of scale poundage, but my body comp is changing. And my clothes are beginning to fit way better.
Hehehhe Brian, you must have been hanging around with Rick (my SO). Arrrgghhh, the punny jokes he comes up with! :p
Yeah, that would make a pretty nasty rash, wouldn't it??? :o
One more thing: Does Scivation have a higher carb version of their nutrition plan? I keep thinking Tiffany told me they did. I guess I need to find out. I need at least 100 starchy carbs. That's my low limit. :D
The last meal wound up being a little different. I still had the cup of lowfat cc, but I had about 15 or 20 mixed nuts ... and 1 vodka/diet tonic :o I just had one! hehe I need to go to bed right after I get home! :p
Diane, you'll need to contact Derek about the different nutrition plans. I am very sure he does have a higher carb plan :)
If you can eat 100+ carbs a day and not get hungry I am jealous! :p I lose very well (and actually lose better) when I'm on higher carb plans ... but the hunger gets me every time :o (It could be 'cause carbs are sooooo goooood)
Hoos, I avoid the Food Network like the plague! :p I get so hungry when I watch it (even though I do need some new recipe ideas .... hmmmm) :cool:
But I have to watch when I'm not hungry -- right after I have eaten! :p
Veddy, veddy, nice! Have you ever tried 21's? (biceps) Google them if you don't know what they are. They are great to do once in awhile to really get a great pump. I do them every other week. They burn. Which is always good. Have a terrific day Penney. P.S. Don't dwell on things which you have no control over. It just wrecks havoc on your inner sanctum. Ellen
I have heard of 21's, Ellen, and mean to try them someday. I bet they burn like Hell! :eek: He hehe, burning pain is always good (are we a sick lot or not?) :o
Yeah, so true on the stuff around us that is out of our control. I try to keep from getting sucked up in it. Sometimes it's hard when it hits me in the wallet, lol.
