you an connect your xbox directly to your modem or you will need a router so you can have your xbox and computer hooked up to the interwebz. It uses the standard ethernet cable. (big old phone cord looking thingy) :D

Got it. I did some research and figured it out. I have a wireless router but don't think it's compatible w/xbox.

Then after I used about half of it I figured out it was drying a different color and had to go back to home depot cause the guy mixing my paint messed up and used the wrong base on a couple of gallons. Wasted about 7 hours saturday cause of that.

GOW is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy slower gameplay than COD, with much smaller maps. COD multiplayer is alot better than either of the GOW games.

wtf is up with gow matchmaking? i spent 20 minutes trying to find a game--and failed, so i started playing the campaign

COD5 = Lame for me. It seems to be just another run and gun game. No real strategy involved on multi player (Maybe if you get a good team with communication), everyone runs to the same locations and battles go in pretty much the same way every time. I don't know what the final game will be like but to me it's a rehash of Ghost Recon, Halo and all other FPS. Graphics are kick a$$.

You won't be disappointed. The online gameplay is awesome. And for xcon, regarding your thoughts about how it's just about killing people and no strategy, there are variations like war, headquarters, domination, etc that require some strategy, but deathmatch is just about killing mofos.

The other maps are HUGE. You can do more with tanks and the .50 cals, you unlock another custom user mode at each prestige level, if you beat the campaign on single you unlock the zombie mode, more weapons, etc, etc. Just sick.

You won't be disappointed. The online gameplay is awesome. And for xcon, regarding your thoughts about how it's just about killing people and no strategy, there are variations like war, headquarters, domination, etc that require some strategy, but deathmatch is just about killing mofos.

I was just asking because I'm glad I played Halo before Halo 2 or 3. I think I would have missed some of the excitement of the game if I had jumped in later in the series. I didn't want to ruin the GOW experience by playing 2 first and then going back to play 1 if I liked it.

I'm thinking I may go with 1 first since it will be much much more affordable used and then get 2 if I get enthralled by the series.

Microsoft promised it won't happen again, but all seems to indicate Xbox Live wasn't prepared for the onslaught in traffic that Gears of War 2 and Call of Duty: World at War generated.

If you have been experiencing connectivity issues, you should stop trying to figure out if it is something on your end. It is not. Xbox Live has been experiencing connection and stability issues over the weekend and it feels like a d?j? vu of last year's incident.

Last December, right before the holidays, Xbox Live experienced several performance issues that Microsoft couldn't fix until early January. In fact, during the company's keynote at the the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the service was still experiencing "intermittent issues."

Down the road, Microsoft admitted it didn't prepare the service's infrastructure for what the company called an unexpected event: the largest sign-up of new members in the history of Xbox Live, which caused the service to pass the 10 million member mark six months faster than Microsoft anticipated.

This weekend, Xbox Live is experiencing connectivity issues again and the company can't find a solution yet. Larry Hryb, known by the pseudonym Major Nelson, said in his blog that these issues were resolved on Friday, only to correct himself on Saturday and reveal that "some folks are still having issues" and that "the Operations center is investigating."

The fact that this is happening during this time of year and after the most anticipated multiplayer shooters launched is something worth mentioning. Gears of War 2 and Call of Duty: World at War both offer cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes and Microsoft revealed a couple of days ago that the sequel to Gears of War set a new record for concurrent Live players. More than 1.5 million people logged into Gears of War 2 on Xbox Live during the launch weekend, racking up a total 15 million gameplay hours. Add to that the issues Gears of War 2 is experiencing with matchmaking and you have enough dots to connect.

I checked out the Netflix thing and it will be some good stuff. I added my list via web already and it's set up for xbox live now.

They will be releasing the updates in waves, I think by timezone, I think people will be really surprised with this update. It will fix a lot of issues. I think it might fix some connection issues via software. No more dashboard freezes, or lag time on dash board.

Starz will be good to watch through the live server.

It's probably good you did because now you'll know the maps somewhat. There's ALOT more than COD4 and they're ALOT bigger. Much more places to hide and creep on fools.

I use the Bar a lot but I noticed the sprinfield is usually one shot kill.

I kinda liked it. The Netflix twist should be interesting. I signed up last night and already que'd a couple movies. I was kinda let down that you can't stream all of the movies searchable though.
