It's a very good option if your shoulders hurt when squatting. Other than that, I wouldn't spend that much unless it's needed.

It is good for bringing up your squat and deadlift weights as it moves the position of the weight on your body and makes your muscles work differently. I have one and it helps alot.

I don't think you'll find it used. I know I don't plan on ever getting rid of mine.

There was a member on here that was getting rid of one. He lives in Milwaukee, WI and don't know if he sold it already.

I've also gave it a thought on buying a safety kit for the existing olympic bar I have.

The manta ray squat attachment is very nice as well. It is also cheap and very small. It really eliminates shoulder neck pain from the bar and I also thinks helps stabilize things. Having used both the ray device and safety squat bar, I like the ray better but that may just be because I don't use the safety squat bar enough to fell comfortable with it as it has a different feel to traditional squats. I can also take the ray with me if I work out at differnt places or on the road.

I bought my safety bar used for 180. Dont think Ill ever see one for sale for a long time. If your shoulders are hurting from a straight bar have you tried lowering it on your back? You may be holding it too hi.
