"Compact" is the key word here, since I already have a power rack and lat/low row unit in the garage. The height won't be a problem but I don't want it to be 15+ feet wide and make me have to move everything else.
As for "cheap," anything in the ballpark of $300.00? I want the type where I load my own Olympic plates, not with a plate stack.

$300 for a cross-over?? Ouch.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The cheapest I've seen is around $499.00 or so.

Don't give up though if you're on a tight budget. Keep on searching either on ebay or craigslist and you'll be glad you waited.

How about building something yourself? Go and see a simple one at a store and you can grab rollers and whatnot at homedepot. It might not look very pretty but you might just be the first guy that built it himself. :D

I'm not on a tight budget, but I just can't justify that much money for a piece of equipment that will mainly just be used for "finishing" exercises. If I didn't already have the lat/row tower from New York Barbells, I would probably take the plunge.
I've pondered your idea of building one myself, except I was looking more at just joining two standalone lat towers instead of building from the ground up.

What about powertec's functional trainer or whatever they call it? Could that be used as a true crossover? Or is it not quite wide enough?
