- There is rather serious talks and discussion within WWE as what to do with John Cena when he returns from injury this year. It?s not that much of a spoken thing, but it?s understood that Cena isn?t connecting with the entire WWE audience like officials have wanted him to. They wanted him to connect on a level like Steve Austin or The Rock, where everyone was into his character.

There is talk of altering Cena?s character when he returns, in some form or fashion. An idea of turning Cena heel has been tossed around but one of the bad sides to that is the loss of merchandise sales, which Cena brings in a lot because of the demo he appeals the most to. As much as WWE has tried to make Cena the face of the company, they realize he is not connecting like they wanted and the belief is we could see a different side of Cena when he returns, although maybe not full-fledged heel.

They need to find him a gimmick that works as either a hell or face. What that might be, I have no idea.

You could say that. But I'd assume the All American guy would be more over with the fans as a face, rather than getting the mixed reactions he gets.

I'd just like to see him with a real direction, and a good new gimmick, since he's obviously got the potential to go even further to be the face of WWE, if they use him right.

I was just thinking about that today, he doesn't actually have any gimmick... he's just a generic face that wears looser, longer jean shorts than Austin did...

Would bringing some of his rap gimmick back help? I can't really picture him doing what he used to, but he needs something to push him one way or the other, that's for sure!

the WWE has to remember the timing of guys like The Rock and Austin..Austin got over because he was this blue collar no nonsense dude that beat the crap out of McMahon and didnt care what anyone said

Cenas problem is there really isnt anything original he can do to get over..that rapper thing is stupid and no one takes it seriously..the WWE ruined him when he was champ for so long. without majority of women and children hed get nothing but boos; thats what happened at the HOF

I'd like to see him go back to freestyling and being a wigger. Maybe stick him with Killings, if they can get past personal problems, I think that could be epic.

Cena is a hell of a lot better as a heel... they need to switch him over and kinda let him do his own thing with it and kinda go back to what he used to do. Maybe not as much of the rapper gimmick as he had before, but at least migrate over more into that general area. Get rid of the stupid salute he does and all this other bull****... I want him more like the way he used to be when he was heel.

And they're talking about wanting him to connect with the audience like Austin or The Rock. Hell, just look at The Rock. He was better as a heel... didn't stop him from connecting with the audience.

I don't really think his problem was his gimmick, I actually liked him better as a wigger. I think the company just pushed him way to hard and made him this dominating champion who made every ppv predictable and fans got sick of it. They tried to sell him as a brawler but he makes HHH and HBK tap out at two consecutive wrestlemania main events. Maybe he shouldnt start rapping again becuase it looks like the fans are responding well to R-Truth, but I never hated cena i got respect for him and his love for the bussiness but the wwe has to change there "your going to like the guy we tell you to like attitude" cuz he's obviously not the rock or austin.

imo, in order to make Cena a TRUE heel, they are gonna have to do something like a mystery angle....


a little fantasy booking....

at survivor series its cm punk vs jericho for the title, and batista vs JBL.....

masked cena interfere's with both those matches, causing punk and batista to lose

next night on raw, batista is shown laid out in the back, and masked cena takes out cm punk and cryme tyme with a chair while they are in a match

and this could go on for like three or four weeks....with the masked cena just taking out any face on raw...even the diva's....

then, at the next ppv, its suppose to be batista vs jericho for the title...but two weeks before the ppv...on raw...masked cena injures batista....Adamale says he has a replacement in mind....the next week before the ppv...Adamale announces that cena will take batista's spot...then cena shows up backstage, as a face, but adamale warns cena to be careful of the masked man taking everyone out....cena says dont worry about it, i will take care of this....then during a cm punk vs jbl match....masked cena, interferes in the match, taking out cm punk, just brutally attacking him for like 10 minutes....masked cena stands over punks lifeless body in the ring.....then john cenas music hits....everyone waits for cena to come out....and boom....cena takes off the mask.....heel turn complete

meh, about 2 weeks back at a house show in msg he got the biggest pop of the night, dave meltzer reported that IF the show was on taped for tv or live those pops would have been boos because thats the cool thing to do

They shouldn't change a thing. I've never seen anything like the responses Cena gets. Who cares if it isn't what Vince wants? I say keep him the way he is. He'll still sell his merch. and the smark section of the crowd can boo him all day. Because, at the end of the day, they're the biggest marks of all. Cena can still put on solid matches (as was evidenced at SummerSlam with Batista. So much for those two being "abysmal" workers, seeing as their match was better than both Punk/JBL and HHH/Khali :D) so who cares? At this rate, everyone wins as best I can tell. It's probably just an example of HHH griping about something, because Cena on his worst day can get a better reaction out of a crowd than HHH on his best. Lotta' hate for Cena in the lockeroom it would appear. I guess that happens when ur the best at what u do.
