Sorry. Topical treatments do not work. Only surgery or supportive garments.
I am an MD.
btw, Congrats.

What's up Rosco not being sarcastic are you sick? But if you were you are a MD and you could just write yourself a prescription.

I'm in the same boat you are. I lost a bunch of weight and I have horrible flab in my abdominal area :(
If you just lost the weight, wait and see if it'll snap back. Some people's will ... even after 40. If it does not snap back after a reasonable time then the only thing that'll get rid of it is the surgeon's scalpel.
Congrats on the weight loss by the way! :D

I've found the only way to tighten up is to just put on more and more muscle mass. Probably not something you want to do but it works for me.

yeah if u put on some muscle mass those places where fat used to be will be filled with muscle and u will look tighter

Depends on how long ago and how fast you lost the weight. Younger skin is more elastic, but if you lost the weight slowly and fairly recently, the skin may tighten up on its own.

x2. I've fired doctors who have more on the ball.
why
Because of some of the tripe you've spewed. Like telling one poster his thyroid blood tests were perfect when they were so far hypo, and he had the symptoms, it was not even funny.
Not to mention having the time to troll this board.
Doctor, my hindquarters!

I'm now up to 126lbs gone in 13 months...I have another 25 lbs to go to reach my next goal, I'm working towards that by swimsuit season..lol..
I'm very pleased with my toning and excited about my level of fitness.. :) Can't wait for spring to re start some outdoor jogging and power walks.. Indoor Gym Machine Cardio is so boring...lol...
Its kinda sad about the skin, but I will live with looking good in my clothes ;)

Stay focused on this attitude. I looked at your progress pics. You look like an entirely new person. Congratulations, you have done some really awesome work.

Sorry...I have no remedy for your little problem but wanted to give you some 'reps' for your diligence.
Good luck with your goals.

First of all, major kudos! In order to help you w/additional info, there have also been many discussions on this topic, especially in the female section. If you are not sure how to use the search function, we can fill you in.
If the meantime, here's a couple of thoughts from my pea brain for you..
Skin is incredibly elastic. It can expand and contract in a remarkable manner. The elasticity does decrease with age and can also be effected by things such as genetic predisposition, "oxidative stress" or other environmental factors, sun damage, and nutritional deficiency.
A return to former tautness depends on the above and also on how much the skin was stretched, for how long, and whether you lost the weight quickly or slowly (ideal).
Regardless, once you hit whatever weight your goal weight is, please give it at least a year of maintenance, regular exercise, etc. (a year sounds like a lot but it will go by quickly) so you can then see how your skin has responded and what areas are a problem.
As many have mentioned, definitely yes to adding lean mass (muscle) to assist with the appearance you are trying to achieve. Also, most people never get to a low enough bf% to really see what is "loose skin" vs. larger pockets of remaining fat.
In the meantime, be VERY wary of anyone pushing you to quickly jump on the quick fix world's abdominoplasty/lipo/etc. bandwagon... I'm a mom too and never had to resort to any of these despite large weight gains during pregnancy. I believe that most competent surgeons out there would tell you that surgery is a LAST resort and ideally only AFTER you have done the above.

Congratulations on the weight loss!
My wife has the same issues as she has lost 170lbs+
She has excess skin on the arms, thighs and belly area.
It has been three years+ and it looks like it is there for life.We have been searching for an answer to this dilemna and it seems in her case surgery may be the only way to take care of it for her. After viewing many TV show surgeries she is turned off. She watches the weight loss TV shows and notices others that have lost a considerable amount of weight do not appear to have an excess skin issue. I know deep in her heart it would make her feel more "complete" if the excess skin issue was resolved but bottomline is she is far better off with being in shape and the weight being in check and having excess skin than being out of shape and overweight with that skin filled.
Best of luck to you and keep on working hard at it!

Thanks so much everyone who has passed along advice.. I've now got 145lbs off and a pile of inches.. LOL
I've gone from size 28 jeans down to size 10 and I feel great.. I've learned to jog intervals this summer, and set a new personal best of 42km of powerwalking in 6 days..
I actually was referred by my MD to see a plastic surgeon, who was wonderful.. I'm getting the tummy done and she is in the process of getting approval to do the full deal.. ie back/legs and arms..
I have discomfort when sleeping from all the extra skin and have woke up with marks and bruises from nipping skin while I sleep..It also makes jogging more of a challenge as everything moves and creates more pressure on my knees (imagine jogging with a loose sack of water warped round your body)
My skin has bounced back alittle but I was big most of my life and have been told its come back as far as its likely too at this point..
On a funny note, all the loose skin sort of slips down your body so my shoulders and upper back look great.. LOL
I continue to work hard and my goal for this season is to drop below 25% bmi and to drop another 10 lbs by Christmas.
P.S signed up for my first aerobics class with all the young chickies... LOL Anyone calls me Mom is gonna hear it... ;)
Thanks again
