View Full Version : NFL Week 2 potential upsets

Anyone think there is a week 2 match that may be ripe for an upset?

Mine is the Bills at Jacksonville. Not sure how Jax is a 6 point favorite with their 2 key offensive linemen getting injured. Bills also humilated Seahawks. I'm picking Bills.

I also had my eye on Dallas vs Philly. Dallas is a 6.5 point favorite, but Philly has the weapons to beat them.

not a bad pick - the bills looked great but seattle also looked like ****..

I'll take the Rams over the Giants. NY played great on the road last year and the Rams looked awful Sunday, but the Giants are "only" giving up 8x points... Me smells a trap... Rams and the points.

That's a risky pick! Will Indy fall to 0-2? I watched part of the Vikings last night. Tarvaris Jackson could throw the ball fine, but he seems to be lacking "the touch". I love watching Peterson run. Truly amazing.

Yes, I tempted on that game as well. SF is not THAT bad! They actually gained more yards than AZ last week.

They need to settle down a bit, I have my hopes up. At least they finially benched Smith.

San Diego is favored by 2, I'm thinking they could very well lose since the game is in Denver where the Broncos are always tough. Chargers defense isn't looking all that good right now, the offense was having its share of problems as well.

Potentially, it could turn into an ugly loss for the Chargers.

Haven't looked to sea what the point spread is, but I'm assuming the Bears are underdogs for the second week, as well.
So with high hopes, DA Bears for the upset! :D

I think the Panthers are favored by 3. On paper, it should be a close game, they'll both match up well, making for a good defensive fight. The Panthers will not be able to run the ball as they did on the Chargers. Delhomme will be harassed by the Bears defense, unlike the Charger game.

I doubt either team will run well. Carolina probably has the edge as far as QB goes. But the Panthers will go another week without Steve Smith, though the other receivers have stepped up a bit. The Bears shut down a great offensive team in the Colts. The Panthers beat an overrated team in the Chargers who really didn't do much of anything until the fourth quarter, and still showed some horrible weakness in the closing drive.

Nope, stallworth was out, Braelyn and Anderson had not played for 3 weeks and we had 2 guys that NEVER played in a live game before.

So the only real target was Kellen.

Kind of hard to complete passes when your best 2 receivers are not in sync with the QB. How would Ben do with Smiley (cause he just buggered his sister) and Holmes out?

I also had my eye on Dallas vs Philly. Dallas is a 6.5 point favorite, but Philly has the weapons to beat them.

Jags are a favorite because they are at home and the better team. While Buffalo has improved, it's going to be a tough task to ask them to win in Jax. Don't read too much into last weeks games.

Philly is a good choice. While Dallas is home on Monday Night, Philly does have the weapons to get the job done.

Here is my upset of the week... The Minnesota Vikings!!

Rams *might* stay within the number, but they are not winning this football game.

all I care about is that Pittsburgh beats Cleveland so I'll be one game up on my and Capt. Lou's bet

Cleveland's defense cannot stop the run and that's exactly what Pitt loves to do. Clevelands only chance at winning games is to win games in a shootout.

Current line: San Diego -9' with the over/under at 43'

With that line, I'd bet on the Jets. I don't think SD will cover, and may not even win. While New England didn't let Favre get away with his week 1 garbage, the Chargers likely will. No pass rush. If his o-line does a half decent job, his receivers out to get open. The spontaneous style of Favre may plague SD.

Tomlinson's toe seems to be getting worse, which means he's not going to have the acceleration or cuts. They ought to bench him, rather than risk further injury. Gates is still not 100% from his toe surgery, but is also sporting a bruised hip. Two of their key offensive linemen are still out. They showed they can still score points with their receiver corps and with Sproles playing more reps.

Defensively, looking worse as Clinton Hart just had surgery on his hand. He'll try to play, but no guarantees. Cromartie is sporting a bad hip as well.

I think it's going to end up a shootout with the Jets having a realistic chance of winning. Even embarrassing the Chargers if the SD offense sputters in the first half as it did in the first two games.
