We've got 8 more weeks...

Until the 3rd annual Lift-A-Thon for charity!

Luckily I have a friend that's a writer and he wrote the following press release for me.

We still need a webmaster! I promise, it'll only take you a couple of hours to put the whole thing together.

Time's a-wastin'! If you would like to participate, donate, volunteer or help out in any other way, please let me know ASAP!

On November 6, 2008, Guinness Word Record weightlifter Kevin Machate, along with other fitness-minded philanthropists from around the globe, will participate in an international Lift-a-Thon to raise funds for St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Worldwide, more than 30 lifters hope to raise $50,000 for St. Jude, with the proceeds directly benefiting treatment of children with cancer, as well as research to find a cure for the dread disease. The event?s participants will attempt to simultaneously lift a combined 50 million pounds within one, 24-hour period.

?I?m thrilled to be heading up this important event,? said Machate, the 36-year-old current Guinness World Record Holder for "The Most Total Weight Squat-Lifted in 24 Hours? and very proud to be supporting St. Jude for their outstanding work. My colleagues and I are hoping to take some of the financial weight off the hospital by lifting some weight ? and some money --of our own!?

Tax-deductible donations to support the lifters? efforts can be made in person at www.stjude.org, Chili's in Garland, Texas or Chili's in Richardson, Texas or by contacting Machate directly at (given privately).

*whew*

I'm wiped out..

We started late because the trainers were late... I started at 9:12 am and finished at about 2:50.

17 sets of 10 @ 186 lbs
11 sets of 10 @ 156 lbs
35 sets of 10 @ 136 lbs
1 set of 11 @ 136 lbs
1 set of 12 @ 136 lbs
1 set of 14 @ 136 lbs

667 total squats

Grand total = 101,142 lbs (all squats)

2 Pending Guinness World Records, one being the 24 hr record that I already hold, but I almost doubled today.

We're taking donations until next Thursday, and I don't have a total of how much other people have lifted yet, since some are still at the gym.

I was interviewed for the Garland, TX newspaper, WFAA (ABC Channel 8) news, and HDN (Hi Def News) which is a cable news TV network, although it doesn't broadcast here. (If anyone has it available, let me know!)

Thanks to everyone that has donated (or will be) and participated.
