I don't use the mp3 when I lift. I find it distracting and those earbuds are forever falling out of my ears. I find it essential for cardio though. I just finished up 40 minutes on the bike and I was listening to Mastodon - "Blood Mountain" and Chavez - "Ride the Fader".

If anyone is into metal and not listening to Mastodon, check them out. Download the track Hunters of the Sky or Capillarian Crest. I've been into them for a few years now. These guys are great.

John Mayer.

Not the 'Your body is a fairground ride' stuff. The blooze!

OK, so it's John Mayer, but it's really Clapton, SRV and Hendrix and saves me having to create a playlist...........

If you have problems with the Ear Buds....I can't remember the name of the manufacture of mine....but you squeeze them around like you would an ear plug, and then place it IN your ear. It expands and does NOT move unless you pull it out....Sounds very nice as well.
I believe they are KOSS?

My ipod?
Pantera - Hostile, Walk
SlipKnot - Duality, Before I Forget, Wait and bleed
Motley Crue - Wild Side, Primal Scream, Live Wire
Rob/White Zombie - Living Dead Girl, More Human Than Human, Thunder Kiss 65
Disturbed - To much for me to list.
god Smack - Too much for me to list.
Cypress Hill - Rock Super Star
Saliva - Ladies And Gent, Click Click Boom, Your Disease
Anthrax - Persistence of Time, Potters Field, some others
Metallica - Fuel, Ride the Lightening Album
Seven Dust - Praise
Velvet Revolver - Can't remember
Guns N Roses - Too much for me to list.

I think you get the idea anyways...

I used to hate an ipod while I workout, but lately I love it. It drowns out the useless background chatter in the gym and I don't have to listen to that "try to satisfy all the members" bullcrap they play.

I have a mix of music I listen to for my workout playlist. 70's, 80's some current stuff, Kid Rock (Cocky is my favorite right now), Linkin Park, Metallica, Guns and Roses, Korn, FlyLeaf, etc.etc. Even have some stuff from Rocky. Whatever keeps me fired up.

I like the ones that hang over your ear. They fit nice and stay put. About 8 bucks at Wal_mart. They are in the aisle with all the other ipod stuff.

I found a link and PMed OutOfStep them...
There are two types...I have the white pair, but kind of like the black pair a little better and may order them in the future.

Here are the buds I have...love them.

not for lifting but on my runs a must.

I don't lift today, but I did 10 minutes of bleachers before my daughter cheered today :)

I dont listen to music either, it affects my focus. I do wear earbuds though, perfect for discouraging people form talking to me when I`m there to work out, and if they do talk I can pretend I didn`t hear them.

I did not get the push from music but rather seeing my 4 yr old use a baseball bat to chase down and hit his almost 7 yr old brother. Yikes. I got pretty upset though stayed calm while i got the little guy to his room and then went back to the last set of my workout. After 4 sets of narrow bench the last one for 15 reps, I could only get 8 reps at 30 pounds on my right arm for decline db extensions. Trying to bring up my right lateral triceps. I then came back after the baseball event and hit 12. I don't know what music was playing.
