I'm doing well too. I'm headed to the garage shortly to finish pulling the engine and trans on my GTO. Tomorrow we are headed to the mountains to look at fall colors and just get away for a while. Hmmmm I have been looking at vehicles too. I may wait a while longer though since the wife just started her new job in August. I'm 6'2" I can drive most vehicles pretty comfortably. My wife has a 2000 Mazda Protege and I have driven it to Montana and back. I prefer SUV type vehicles myself. For something with 4 wheel drive AND decent fuel mileage I have been checking out the Jeep Patriot or Compass with the 4 cyl and 5 speed. You can pick up a stripped down version for about 15k. Have fun car shopping!

That's one thing about liquor (especially *but not limited to* beer) and athletics, particularly college football, basketball, rugby and so on, and the consumption by it's athletes in effect to their training, performance and social behavior on and off campus. It seems to be a traditional thing strongly backed by peer pressure to consume alcoholic beverages and if they're not wise in how they handle their drinks their performance is affected in practice and/or they start getting into trouble socially on campus or off. Everyone who has experienced this knows that it feels like S*IT going to parctice the following day after drinking practically an entire case the night before. Your legs feel weak, you feel like your walking in 2 feet of mud and you feel like your in the middle of a Louisiana Swamp in mid-July 30 miles from the nearest town. Be glad they're all between 18-21 because liquor is filtered from the body easier at a younger age than an older one.
To make a long story short this is the +35 column so we here at our advanced ages do not have the same organs we had when we were 20 to 26, but if your not into contest training and just lift for a hobby it's you who adjust your workout schedule.
Moral of The Story: Control your consumption of alcoholic beverages and know when your body is sending you a warning signal when your legs start feeling rubbery and your appetite is not as good as it shoul be. You know it's time to cap that bottle for several weeks and hit the gym with the frame of mind that your 20 years younger. As soon as you feel the strenght back in your body again *cheers http://forum.bodybuilding.com/images/icons/icon10.gif until next time.

how was the weekend for everyone? how did the race go rp
This seems an appropriate thread to cleverly kinda/sorta disguise a semi-political post. Of course, it's about beer
Time we put tax cuts in terms everyone can understand
Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100.
If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that's what they decided to do.
The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until on day, the owner threw them a curve. "Because you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20."Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?' They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer.
So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.
And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.
"I only got a dollar out of the $20,"declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man," but he got $10!"
"Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I!"
"That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!"
"Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!"
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

Every week, me and my room mate pick 2 six packs of beer we want to try out, which amounts to 1 beer a day for 6 days generally... haven't noticed diminished gains either. Just had some fat tire and tried a sip of jacksons pumpkin spice by michelob... fat tire was alright, pumpkin spice = win.

Oh man you are telling me. I can't bring myself to even look at my 401k. :( I'll be working till I'm 90 years old.

thanks bud...I'm good. Need to get back in the gym tonight.
I don't think folks our age are damned if we don't. I think the market will bounce back nicely even if left as is for now. I do feel for those who are retired or nearing retirement and counting on their 401k and the likes for their retirement though. :( They would be screwed if there was no bailout :(

Yeah I agree. Hard to say what the long term affects would be with no bailout. I know that our company in particular needs to refinance some debt in 2010 or 2011 so not being able to do so would put us in a very bad situation. There could be many other companies in the same boat so the ripple affect could mean more loss of jobs etc. I'm certainly no financial expert.

SWEET!!! Man I haven't brought home a stringer full of trout in a long time. Did your daughter catch the big one? NICE!!!

Do you stuff your beaver when you catch it Dan? Or do you just eat it and throw it away?

Blue Gill is a good fish for kids to catch. Not bad tasting either but you have to catch a few. I like perch too. Walleye is my favorite.
