View Full Version : Powerlifting Video Thread

As discussed in another thread I think it would be a good idea to just use one thread on the main page in which people can add random videos of their training/meet whatever. This hopefully will stop a lot of useless threads popping up and stop the flamefest that is going on.

I know I posted it already but I'll kick things off with my vid of my recent meet.

Awesome video man, what federation was that? Also I'm really hoping this works out the way you're planning and that specifically BW can be mature enough to post his videos in here instead of making a new thread everytime. Anyway, good stuff.

While everyone's at it; I'll post my first meet too.

Squat was awesome, bench I miscalculated my 2nd and 3rd attempts so they were way too light, and deadlift I was just way too tired and I missed a weight I've tripled in the gym. Great time though.

edit: also everything is raw except I squatted with wraps.

They are videos of other lifters. This is for people to post videos of themselves. Not a big difference maybe but still :)

I just build stuff as i need it. I'll actually be expanding shortly as my room doesn't hold all the stuff anymore and I've got a flat wicked competition bench on the way next.

To buy everything i have would run 15-$20,000.

you could have touched all of those. you just need to take your time & relax and work on staying tight/ push your heels down/ stomach up

I think for sure w/o the monster minis they would've.

I couldn't get tight in that shirt, I couldn't get my shoulders back.

I'm getting another shirt altered right now so I can get my setup right and still have good carryover.

if anyone wants to help me on my squat form

Yeah:

1. Eat more
2. Take another second or two with your set-up. Demonstrate proper control at the start of the lift. Bad habits here could lead to your beating the 'down' command at a meet.
3. Strengthen your core. Abs, obliques, etc. You look a little wobbly.
4. Sit back more. Box squatting may help with this.

Overall not too bad. See a lot worse.

From the first page of Madcow's:

Weight Selection/Time Between Sets/Exercise Substitution:
The long and short is Important/Take what you need/Don't **** with this especially the squats. Adding some arm work once a week is fine. Subbing incline for standing military is fine. Adding core work and doing cardio is fine. Do not sub in a machine variant unless you are injured or over 65.

Did you order Starting Stength yet?

samsuperjew5

i'm ordering it tomorow actually, i'm still at my dads, i'm also gonna get another book, but havn't decided which yet

and i remember reading that, idk why i didn't think that

i guess i'll add in some oblique work, i think thats my weakness (as far as my core goes)

Mitsuomi
01-05-2009, 08:51 PM
if you want a big squat and deadlift you must have a strong core
