I would not have stopped till I got to the clinic. At least the dog would have gotten care at that point. I am sure a judge worth anything would have understood.

I will side with the cop but I do think he might have used a bit calmer language after assessing the situation. After all you don't reason a crazy man who is jumping up and down and screaming by jumping up and down and screaming also.

He was right and wrong. He was right that the guy was endangering others but he shouldn't have been telling the guy he didn't care about his dog. BTW, San Marcos to New Braunsfels is a bit of a drive and the dog probably wouldn't have made it anyways. If we saw the rest of the vid where the guy was driving over a 100 and not stopping people might feel differently about the officer.

I hope you are kidding, you think that officer was pissed the guy was endangering the public for a dog, you have no idea how a Judge would have responded, esp a Texas Judge.

You cannot be serious! It's a dog, you don't put peoples lives in danger for a dog. We all love our pets, but the chance that someone could lose thier son, daughter, husband, wife, etc... to this is crazy...

Armchair quarterbacking the vid I would say that the officer should have been more respectfull once he had cleared the vehicle BUT that is said not knowing the full story.
As a dog and cat owner I will say that the driver F'd up by NOT remaining calm and by NOT driving in a safe manner. The driver killed his own dog through stupidity and by not knowing basic pet first aid. Again I say this not knowing the full story so I reserve the right to change my opinion when more information is available.

yeah monday quarterbacking is the worst part of law enforcement. The officer had adrenaline going from what he thought was a pursuit and apparently was. I wonder what the dog was choking on?
