Hey kid, I know what you are talking about. I thought I had dodged that bullet to, but got them when I was 32. Had them everywhere and I mean everywhere, even in my mouth. The most miserable week I can remember. Sorry to hear your itchy/scratcy and get better soon.

So far I've been pretty lucky not bad compared to what I've heard others say. I made the mistake of going out walking yesterday! BAD it's hot and with in a few mins everything so much worse... so I'm not even stepping outside my door today!

Yup, the heat really makes them flair up bad. Try taking a aveeno or oatmeal bath, it really helps the itching and dries them up sooner.

very dangerous it's actually called Shingles (in adults) not Chicken Pox

Most people have chickenpox at some stage (usually as a child). The virus does not completely go after you have chickenpox. Some virus particles remain dormant (inactive) in the nerve roots next to your spinal cord. They do no harm there, and cause no symptoms. For reasons that are not clear, the virus may begin to multiply again (reactivate). This is often many years later. The 're-activated' virus travels along the nerve to the skin and causes shingles.

In most cases, an episode of shingles occurs for no apparent reason. Sometimes a period of stress or illness seems to trigger it. A minor 'ageing' of the immune system may account for it being more common in older people. (The immune system keeps the virus dormant and prevents it from multiplying. A slight weakening of the immune system in older people may account for the virus 'reactiving' and multiplying to cause shingles.)

Get the vaccine!!! My kids got the varcella vacine so far they don't show any signs of catching it ... (but they still could.) Doc said if they catch from me it will more then likely be very mild for them.So hoping they don't though!! Neither of them have ever had chickenpox!

Poor kid

LOL the last time I had a needle shoved in my arm because I was dying in front of the docs and they had to give me a counter drug to act on the first one they'd given me.

Took three nurses and two docs to hold my arm down - this is what I was told btw, I don't really remember too much. :o

Last time they gave my son a shot freakin doc called secureity in!! My son freaks at needles! The doctor keep tell me to control he has to have the shot for school. I said he scared of needles there is nothing I can do. We argued so much that he went and got secruity! I was so mad!! He acted like I just had a bad kid!! But no matter how well behaved your children are rules don't apply when they are truely scared. He cann't force a scared child to do something. I have no idea how well handel this when he needs his next set for school at age 12. So far as I know you cann't get a waiver cause your kid has a fear of needles and he's a big kid!! LOL, I'm not gonna attempt to hold him down at 12!!

That doc was so in the wrong there are ways of giving scared kids shots, fighting with their mummy and freaking them out further is definitely NOT the way to do it.

I hope you lodged a complaint against the arsehole!

It was an ugly fight! He actually threaten to call child services on me cause I refused to hold him down while they gave him a shot!! I told them he either didn't get the shot or they had to find another solution. I wasn't gonna compound his fears by forcably holding him down. The whole time were fighting my son was under the table screaming! So odcoarse me and the doctor yelling just so we can hear each other! LOL I can just imagine the thoughts of the poor children in the waiting room! Needless to say I don;t see that doc any more but yeah there were complaints filed on both sides!! He actually contacted my insurance company and my sons school saying he was concerned I wouldn't get all my sons shots and **** like that!!

Last year a young black bear wandered down from the forested area somewhere. Probably up the Columbia River Gorge area, if you are familiar with that. Right into a local neighborhood, which is pretty rare, here.. Was funny, they had the whole thing on the morning news.. Could not catch the little guy.. Finally got a tranq in him and hauled him back to the hills.

So yeah, there a lot of them here.

Did ya have some rabbit stew? :)

Actually yeah we did. When I was a kid we spent alot of time around Fla. black bears were nearly extinct there, I think I might have seen 2 in all the years I was there unfortunately though killed one of them. Well Jamie killed it I hit with a frying pan. I'll never live that down.

I had to call his teacher I just subjected the whole class to it!! and school hadn't even started yet!! The school requires the kids to get the varcella vaccine though so hopefully I didn't spread it to anyone. So far my kids haven't had any signs of it. Keepin my fingers crossed there.
