Hello Everyone,
For as long as i remember the following has been happening to me since the very 1st days of my training, any movement for my shoulders (flying upward, aside or to the front, flying in circles "front or backward") if feel like both shoulders joints are cracking "sound and feel like breaking a wooden stick or cracking a nut the only difference is that this is under my skin"
Sorry as i am not sure how to describe it and i do not know the scientific name for this kind of problem!
- So does anyone have a clue?
- Anyone have the same symptoms and got recovered!
Weight lifting can be painful but it seems that i got used to it!
It would be great if i know how to get rid of such annoying issue!
Thanks,
Marko

my shoulders, knees, elbows, ankles, toes, neck and back pop and crack all the time. in the last year or so since i had my back fused last year and i was able to start going to the gym it has all stopped doing it as much. i pop my back and neck all day because i have to sit at work and i cannot sit without stretching, moving and popping everything from time to time. my knee's dont pop that much unless ive been laying around in one spot for a while, toes do it all the time (mainly my big toe because i broke it at both joints playing soccer in high school) my left shoulder pops and cracks from where i broke my collar bone in like 1st grade and they didnt realize it for 2 weeks, was in a brace for about a week then got admited to the hospital with strep pnemonia which almost killed me a few times within a month period so my collar bone never healed properly along with seperating my right and left shoulders at different times getting nailed by 250+ lb linemen playing football in middle school and highschool, elbows dont do it but like once a week but ususally because i pop them getting warmed up at the gym.
if you've been training and putting on some muscle and still having the problem i would def go see a doc and see whats up. could have some damage done from something you did a long time ago and it just help up till now. prob send you to pt, get a few xrays and maybe an MRI if they think it is that bad just to see if there is any damage to the cartledge, tendons etc.

Do you take a joint support supplement? My shoulders have always cracked, but taking plenty of fish oil, flax oil and glucosamine has helped reduce it.

if there is also pain along with the popping it could be tendonitis or some damage to the cartilage

I dont want to say crack or pop. But it does sound like a wooden stick slapping something. (good example btw) I have it too. Its not really in my shoulder area too much as it is over my clavicles. I think its a tendon as well. Hurts the most... when i wake up. Strange i know, I wake up and sqeeze my chest while i push my shoudlers down it pops loud, hurts a little and all is good. If its like mine, maybe its some tendon damage.

Do you just live with it or you are taking any medicine for it?
Thanks,

I was having impingement issues in my right and left shoulders for a while, I actually couldn't even sleep on my right side and one point. I stopped all pressing movements and upright rows. Then started doing dumb bell raises to work my shoulders instead. A few weeks later everything was all good. Never had any cracking noises like your describing. I knew a guy that had bad shoulders though, and his doc told him he basically has inadequate cartilage in his shoulders which is causing his joints to grind anytime he moves his arms. I remember seeing his shoulder dislocate once when he was stretching.

he had to get arthroscopic surgery done, I am not sure exactly what they did though; but I know he said that the grinding was destroying the tendons in his shoulder literally. Any how, if I was you I would go to the doc

Hi Newguy08,
It may be a bit late, cause I didnt saw this message before.
Have you every tried to go to a laboratory and ask for an X-ray? This is the best way to see where is the problem, if there is a bone problem. Eventually, if there is a strong muscle problem you will see it either, or may not, and then you may need something more expensive: a RMN (magnetic ray imagery, I don't know how to say this in english), with these sort of special magnetic ray, you can see almost any human tissue and identify any small detail.
Please, take care of your muscles and bones, we have only one body, and by now I haven't seen any website selling good shaped healthy human bodies at a decent price...

If i knew of something to take to make it go away i would. But i learned to just live with it. I use to think something was very wrong. Like a brusied rib or something. But the doc said it sounds just muscle-skeltor. Nothing to worry about just try to see what causeing it and try not doing it if you want.
