Lol, it seems I stay in an alternate universe most of the time. Unfortunately, I'm not having a party at the moment. I'm trying to get some reports done but couldn't resist replying. I would love to chat with you sometime. (not hitting on you, lol) I like your no-nonsense aproach to things and I've been a UFC fan since the tournament days. Back to my reports. Have a great day!!

This all brings back a very fond memory of mine. About 10 years ago I worked out at Gold's Gym here. There were these 2 regulars at the gym. I called them the BLTs. You'll understand here in a few. Anyways these guys were, shall we say into one another, and appeared to be a very happy couple. Oh and I will clarify guys means males here. No offense intended there though. I must be sensitive. Well they would come to the gym similarly attired. Tight spandex shorts, tube socks, form fitting spaghetti-strapped tank tops and color-matched doo-rags. Apparently it wasn't love at first sight because obviously their sight was lacking due to the thick glasses both wore. Maybe it was an animal lust due to their physiques - well cultivated beer bellies, sunken chest, fairly well toned arms though and long stork-like legs topped by absolutely no ass at all. In fact they probably wore the spandex out of necessity because there was nothing there to prop a conventional short up. Now as for the acronym BLTs, well, it stood for the Butt Less Twins.

That is a hard transition to make isn't it. I know that when I got down under 200 for the first time in many years the idea of gaining was not easy to accept. I am starting to realize that I need to put on weight, I look like a freaking twigg anymore.

I think I have finally hit my sweet spot.
I am averaging 200-300 above my Basal and taking in 350g of protein a da but keeping carbs around 150 or so. Only doing cardio about 3 times a week so that is nice.
How are you getting to 350 grams of protein?

I'm not even gettin in my cardio so far this week. This week is just so crazy..but I am getting to the gym so far. I will get some cardio in the AM tomorrow and thursday am for sure...and hopefully friday while we are on vacation. So I still may get in 3 days.
Anyway. I'm not 100% sure of my BMR. I am trying a carb cycling that Carl helped me with and plan to stick that out for no less than 4 weeks...but then if I'm not happy with what I'm doing...I will start bumping my calories about 200 cals at a time. Hold for a week an then re-evaluate.
Thing is my lifts are still improving so I can't say things are not working.....

Start with this exercise as a warm-up before you even lift the bar or any weights. If you can do this daily or every other day you will be making great progress.
It works all three heads and is a GREAT rotation for ROM!

Got mildly irritated and amused at the gym last night. Now I know this might not seem a great feat to you hulking goliaths but remember I was a high rep man focusing on muscular endurance for my MMA training. Anyways I finally did 225lbs on my bench press for 3 strict reps. Strict meaning I touched my chest, despite my long arms, I didn't trampoline it and I didn't have a spotter performing upright rows with the bar. My bench has gone up almost 40lbs in 2 months so I was pretty proud of myself.
After I finished my last set some college age dudes come along and tell me I can just leave the weight on the bar. They get down and start repping my 225lbs except there seems to be an invisible 6 inch obstruction on their chest that stops the bar. Well that was just their warmup because they added 25s on either side and knocked out some more reps. Again with that imaginary 6 inch obstruction except this time it seemed it turned into a 8 inch obstruction.
I just don't know how to keep up with these pillars of strength anymore. I think next time I'll just ask them for some pointers.

Definition I've had in abundance and still have to some degree although that is not my focus at thist time. Ego is immaterial. I lift big to get big and eat big to get big. I'm just as comfortable lifting alone as lifting in a gym. I'm probably the worst dressed gym patron there. I look like I probably sleep in my gym gear. I just don't know how to keep up with these pillars of strength anymore. I think next time I'll just ask them for some pointers.

The mild irration came from them hovering around me like vultures so they could use the bench press the min I got down. The amusement came afterwards. But thanks for the psychoanalysis.

i don't think ya'll understood. I said that in mockery. I could care less about 3"ROMers. The story was meant for humor. Nevertheless, I've already been the rep king for years and greatly benefitted from it in numerous ways. My tendons and ligaments will probably be better prepared to withstand the heavier poundages I've grown to love. Washed and dried and thrown in the gym bag and alternate between 2 sets of clothing. I don't scream and holler and try to draw as little attention to myself as possible.
ROM especially on BB bench can vary greatly and even the smallest of range has a benefit... Just depends on whether the lifter actually knows that or is just trying to fulfill and ego trip.

I agree. But thats their normal routine actually. I believe in partial ROM to correct sticking points and to compensate for lack of leverage. Its a tool that should be used judicially. Although I do feel it is more conducive to powerlifting application.

Most of those guys in there probably have less knowledge than you about the fighters and organizations. And I'd venture to say probably a good portion have never actually trained in it either or even 'rolled' with someone. I can call them to task real quick because its easy for me to spot those who watch it and think they can do it as opposed to those who have sweated and bled doing it. You are who you are - an avid fan and theres nothing wrong with that at all no matter your age or gender. You don't pretend to be anything you're not and I can't say that about most of them. Reminds me of an old James Ingram hit, 'One Hundred Ways.'
Compliment what she does
Send her roses just because
If it's violins she loves
Let them play
Dedicate her favourite song
And hold her closer all night long
Love her today
Find one hundred ways
Dont forget, there could be
An old lover in her memory
If you need her so much more
Why don't you say?
Maybe she has it in her mind
That she's just wasting her time
Ask her to stay
Find one hundred ways
Being cool won't help you keep a love warm
You'll just blow your only chance
Take the time to open up your heart
That's the secret of romance
Sacrifice if you care
Buy her some moonlight to wear
If it's one more star she wants
Go all the way
In your arms tonight, she'll reflect
That she owes you the sweetest of debts
If she wants to pay
Find one hundred ways
Love her today
Find one hundred ways
Definitely words to live by I'd say!

Cool that's the kind of thing I need! See I was raised in the US but by a very Scottish family. We are genetically programmed to be practical above all else. Someone suggested that you should buy things that have no practical use. That would cause me seizures. I grew up learning something was only worth while if it had two or more practical uses, let alone none. My Grandparents thought romance was an English conspiracy to get Scots to spend their money on fluff.

Not to rain on your parade, but your post reminds me of this song...
"The problem is all inside your head", she said to me
The answer is easy if you take it logically
I'd like to help you in your struggle to be free
There must be fifty ways to leave your lover
She said it's really not my habit to intrude
Furthermore, I hope my meaning won't be lost or misconstrued
But I'll repeat myself, at the risk of being crude
There must be fifty ways to leave your lover
Fifty ways to leave your lover
You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free
Ooo slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just listen to me
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free
She said it grieves me so to see you in such pain
I wish there was something I could do to make you smile again
I said I appreciate that and would you please explain
About the fifty ways
She said why don't we both just sleep on it tonight
And I believe in the morning you'll begin to see the light
And then she kissed me and I realized she probably was right
There must be fifty ways to leave your lover
Fifty ways to leave your lover
You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy

The concern I would have (if I would have been working with you) is that since excessive sleep is often a negative symptom of mood problems it might not be the best thing to suggest to a client to do a lot more of. That said, it would really depend on the individual. Been a long time since I've done much therapist work though.

I agree. I was cautioned about my sleeping habits, more than once. Not a good sign for a person with Depression. Thankfully, I am much better now. The depression issues are under control with therapy and some meds. OCD has been an issue since childhood. Goes in patterns,,, brought on with STRESS. I'm a counter. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,....

I thinks sleep can be good for you unless you are using it to hide from what you are really feeling. I have just the opposite. Usually if I am trying to hide from something I can't sleep until I've figured it out. I don't really know if what I do is meditation in the true since of the word but I do know that when I take the time to "listen" to myself I can usually deal with an issue much better than if I try to pretend it's not there. I made myself sit down over the long weekend I just had and do that very thing. I know my "insides" are much calmer now.

That's why I've concluded that it's a "to each his own" kind of thing. I know for some folks it works... :)

There you go! Anways GM I'd really love to chat with you sometime about your training. Strongmen competitions have always had my upmost attention and respect. Just something raw and primordial about it.

Ummm...should you be unawares but TG is a female which would bestow her the title 'mistress' as opposed to 'master.' Oops how remiss of me, thats 'MISTRESS' to us unworthy peons.
