Really slow day in school.
Yeah usually on Thursday I get pounded like a 2 dollar hooker with work orders... As the sales staff like to take a half or whole day off on Friday.
But so far... Pretty quiet...
*****
On the bright side... My shoulder is healing a head of schedule.

Enjoy the easy day. Congrats on the shoulder. Mine was doing pretty good, until I tried High D-ring curls for the first(and last) time this week. The broomstick stretches have really been helping.
Good morning ramblers.

The Navy is the same way. If we dont secure by noon-thirty-1300, there is something wrong.
We just got the word that on friday, we have this "super importion" training from 1300-1500

Good morning ramblers.
While I'm not "Against" Broomsticks... I think the perception of them is skewed.
They are not the "Healing Stretches" they get advertised as being...
They're nothing more than a good stretch... And often get confused as doing something more because often times in an injury the muscles in the area tighten up... And so when you stretch them, it feel relieving just like when you stretch any stiff muscle.
*****
Now if you're doing broom sticks as a Movement to increase blood flow. (Which one of the main reasons joint injuries take so long to heal is because connective tissue has high nerve density and low blood flow.)
Then there is a caveat for the broom stick's medicinal properties.
But don't push "The stretch" part of it...
The last thing you want to do is take compromised connective tissue and over stretch it, into a micro tear.

Wow...
You know how people talk about how this is responsible for the economy... Or that... Or these people, or these policies...
I just got out of 3 hours of non stop product line meetings...
Only 2 out of 17 manufacturers I've seen in the last 3 days were "Made in America."
The two were located in Red Wing Minnesota... And Irvingdale California. (Where they make a clothing line from Bamboo fibers.)
Makes you think when people talk about "Transfer of Wealth" in the energy sector... Why isn't there just an uproar over a lack of American Manufacturing?
we did that to ourselves. why as a manufacturer would you pay an american 30/hr to screw doors on a dryer when you can pay a mexican 5/day to do the same thing. I have a bunch of friends who work at the ford plant & they make A LOT for totally unskilled labor. im not bashing the job of a line worker but its not a trade, anybody can do that **** and the unions kept wanting more benefits & higher pay, which is all great until the companies start sending jobs elsewhere where they don't have to supply the extras.
that's the dark side of capitalism in my mind

Nice...
So I've been researching the different heirloom tomatoes that I want to grow.
Broke it down...
Cherry: Gotta have a snack tomato... So I found the Moskovich... 58 days till first yeild, gorgeous cherry tomato.
Sauce: Changed my mind from Andean to Palka Pear
Unique: Got to have a Black Krim (It's a dark purple tomato with green inside, that tastes smokey and salty.)
Slicer:...
Now here's the debate...
Do I go with "Miama... An Italian tomato... Regular size and flavor."
Illini... Very similar...
Or...
The Ispolin... Which is Russian for "Giant Freak" Makes the second largest tomato in the world, and the vines grow 8 feet tall!
I'm going to give away a few seedlings...
I'm thinking I'll go Ispolin... And then just not tell anyone what the name means...
(Actually I have a rule that anything I grow that's taller than me, must have a name.)
So I'll just name them all... Give the seedlings out in May... And then wait for the phone calls in Late July... "Uh... Nainoa... What's up with the 8 foot tomato plant you gave me? It's like Blocking out the sun from the rest of the garden, and I have dead spot in the lawn!"

Well the auto industry is a bad example... And there's a lot of mis-information floating around out there. (The average Auto worker from Detroit is only making an average of $2.50 an hour more than a Toyota Worker in Texas.)
******
The really big consumer base production we're missing is in other industries, such as Textiles, end user products and plastics and appliances.
The best example is Television Sets...
You can't buy an American made television set...
This is because in the 1990's, the Japanese made a national effort to position themselves to take over our consumer electronics market... Now you can't buy an American Television set.
Where we're really screwing up is that we're not making national market positioning like this...
Other nations are treating their industrialization and manufacturing base as a concerted target...
They're like a Rhino plowing through an economy...
Where as we're playing our industries "Like a Herd of Cats."
If we wanted to take Textile Production back from China... We sure could...
But not as a "Herd of Cats."
We don't have the collective will as a nation to do it anymore...

Well... They said it was "Going to be 10 to 15 degrees colder" in the northwest corner of the state.
I started the truck this morning at Dead Zero...
But this is just a cold burp... We'll actually be back to "Average" by Sunday... And Above Average moving into next week.
And the "Nainoa-Advanced Forecast" is pointing at... 2 weeks slightly above average...
Then the March Lion should hit... Followed by a late March Lamb, and ultimately an Early spring April.
The "SUPER Long Nainoa Forecast" then calls for an above average wet and rainy May.

Don't know anything about Maine other than it's got lobsters and it's up there in YANKEE territory! :D When I wanna go to the Gulf Stream, it's off NC somewhere like Oregon Inlet or Wilmington. Need ideas...I been doing some research and it seems I am not the only one with this problem, but haven't found a solution yet. All this was done over the phone with no signing.
To make a long story short...I was going to refinance and was charged a nonrefundable $400 fee....I was told this fee was for appraisal, some paperwork, & a good faith down payment. I backed out less than 24hrs later and even emailed the guy so I would have proof. I understand that the $400 was nonrefundable, but I also understand that none of the services for the $400 were rendered....I mean there is no way they were out $400 in less than 24hrs. I disputed it through my cc company, but Countrywide won't respond. Do I have a leg to stand on? Ideas?
If I can't get the money back, I am thinking about calling Countrywide and demanding my appraisal just to be an arse.

Well.. You have to look at this pragmatically, instead of ideologically...
Could you Sue in small claims court... Fight it out for a year... And incur 2-3,000 dollars worth of legal fees, and filing fees?
I would say... 75% chance... That yes... If you spend $2-3K to make that happen, and lose a ton of your time dicking around with our inconvenient legal system... You could get that $400 back.
But it won't be worth it.
I would say get the appraisal and all that done... Make them render the services you requested...
And then tuck the info away in a drawer and hope you can find a way to make it work for you later.
Now if they don't render the service, when you ask them to...
Then they're in Breach of Contract... And it "MIGHT" give you a better leg to stand on...
Beyond that...
Say goodbye to the cash!

Check with your atty general's office OMT and see what they think. If they say yes, tell them you'll see them in small claims court. Go to that court get the docs, fill them out and fax a copy over to Countywide. That's worked for me before. ;) The worst you're out a some of your time, most places don't wish to deal with the hassles of the attorney general's office or small claims court. Expecting my spirits to brighten as the days get longer. At least I hope it still works that way for me.

Well I accomplished something, at least. Got transportation reliable enough to be able to join a gym again after 2 years.
Small gym but open 24/7, and the best thing is that it's 2 1/2 miles from my house.
Joined mostly for the treadmills and bikes and ellipticals.
My treadmill has been broken for over a year and I've been forced outside for my cardio.
In decent weather that's cool, but when winter comes, it's a different story.
Add to that that I'm running on a second shift schedule, and I find myself lacking a lot of what sunlight is available.
This helps. Been going twice a day, just to do 3-4 miles of walking. :D Knees don't really allow for running.
I do take a lot of vits and sups, but I'll look into increasing A and D. Already take a gram of C on top of what's in my Multi.

Yeah wife and I boiled up a chicken yesterday actually...

do you have any recipes?
Nainoa
02-22-2009, 03:01 PM
do you have any recipes?
Yes....
Piles...
But the real key to learning how to cook in powerful ways... Is really... basic...
It's just a matter of paying critical attention and care to what you're doing...
In order to make a dish excellent... It needs to be treated like a work of art... And not just "Making food hot."
*****
I mean really...
All this is... Butcher a chicken...
Reserve the breasts on the bone with skin on...
Take the remainder of the chicken... Put it in a pot with some aromatic vegetables... Onions, carrots & Celery...
Set it to a slow boil... Realy... Call it a manly simmer... Not even a boil!
Then just let it simmer for like 3 hours...
Strain out the chicken from the broth...
Take 15 minuts picking all the meat from any bone or cartiledge.
Cut some more onion, carrot and celery... Add it and the chicken meat back into the broth...
Simmer...
Add salt and pepper, and a dash of Oregano, Parsley and cilantro. (Freeze dried herbs are best.)
When the carrots are almost getting soft...
Add a generous handful of egg noodles... Then turn the heat off and cover...
Wait 10 minutes... Noodles and Carrots should be soft...
Time to chow down.
*****
The protein and nutrients in that bowl of soup... From all the marrow and gelatin boiling out of the bones... Plus the meat...
I'd have to have someone measure it... But I wouldn't be surprised if it has as much protein as a Whey shake!
*****
Something to keep in mind is that there is enough gelatin in there to turn it into "Chicken Jello" when it cools... (If you re-heat it later the gelatin become molten... But it's still has maximum magic fresh from the pot.)
So I just do it when I'm like dead ass hungry... Or say fighting an all day hangover.
And then I just leave the pot covered... Stays hot and warm for like 3 hours... And then I just keep picking off bowl after bowl

Jesus, they rape y'all for whole chickens up there. If I don't have one fresh from the farm, $4 max for a good roaster. Throw a couple Roma tomatoes in there too, adds a whole different dimension to the soup. Screw egg noodles, make dumplings instead.

Yeah... Sorry... It's $8 for 2 chickens...
Normally I don't make a soup without tomatoes in it... But Chicken noodle, I tend to give it a pass on the Toms.
But pretty much every other (Non-potato) soup I make uses tomato as a base.
*****
Dumplings...
Growing up... My Mother always tried to make dumplings... And she always, always, always failed... Often miserably.
So while I appreciate the average German style dumpling... It's just doesn't ring the "Comfort Food" bell in my head... And chicken noodle is pretty the penultimate comfort food.

Okay... So Wed-thurs which down here is "70% chance of significant snow fall" is "Slight chance of snow" up there...
Meaning it's track is taking it from the south... So it will be moisture fed.

Looks like Life/God is loading another F-150 Adventure into the tubes for me this week.
Law states that all fish houses have to be off the lake by the end of this weekend...
I'm going up for a trip on Friday Afternoon through Sunday...
Fish house is currently 1.6 miles from shore...
If we get a massive dump of 12-14 inches of snow... On Thursday...
I'm pretty sure no one is going to plow a road out to me with the season closing...

There's a line in the state... If you're south of it, like I am... "You cannot leave your house unattended over night... After March 2nd"
But if you're north of... I think it's Hwy 2 up by Leech... Then they give you an extra 2 weeks...

Doesn't it every year?
Early ice... Seems like there's always an incident of a couple people using thin ice as an extra parking lot, and it gives...
But late season...
Usually after Walleye Closer (Which happened this past Saturday) you've got a good 3 weeks that you can still drive on... Maybe 2 if March is a Lamb-Lion...
Then you hit Mid March and it's a battle between the Heat sink of the main basin's massive ice sheet and the sun...
And you can kind of watch the shore and know how the shore ice will be for that day...
Once you cross that threshold where the heat sink of the main basin is "Losing" it can go ridiculously fast.
Every year in late March/Early April people walk onto the ice and get trapped when the shore melts away.
******
This year... I think this is going to happen to some trucks...
The heat sink of the main basin is way weak this year...
Right now we've got 24-27 inches of ice... When usually it's 34-37 inches... Or sometimes 42" "Up North."
So that heat sink is going to loose the battle versus the sun sooner this year than usual... And I bet it's going to get some of the "Good Old Boys" trapped!

how was your ice season catch wise
it dident sound like you got out much
i only got out 2 days :(
It was slow...
But better than last year... (Last year being the worst season ever!)
If you count this coming trip...
Out of 14 possible trips this season...
I got out for 8 trips...
Last year was 9...
It's just this year was a lot more 1 day or 1 night trips...
Mainly because in the beginning my partner was unemployed... So I was footing the bill...
Then he got a job and moved away... And so now I'm fishing on someone else's schedule all the time.
Catch wise...
Walleye numbers sucked... As did Pike...
Lots and Lots of perch... Lots of sorting, but could bring home a meal per trip...
Part of what killed me was the snow kept me from really moving around much on a part of this lake that I never ice fish, and really don't fish much during the summer...
So even though I fish Alexander a lot in the summer... All of my hotspots are on the other side.
****
Kind of excited about this weekend... As I know where the Slab Crappies Spawn... And I know that by now they're staged up in the bay just outside of it...
So we're going up for one last tript to try and slay them before bringing the fish house home...
And then I'm converting it into a wood heated green house!

I think it kind of depends on location...
Up here... Renting is acceptable in the city limits itself...
But if it's not in an urban location, renting and even a patio home is a repugnant idea.
Now a part of that is land value... And another part of that is the oppinion of people who are 1 generation removed from the farm...
Where if you don't have the free will to till a garden, or make a fire pit, park a boat, it greatly lowers the value.
******
With any property though it's always going to depend on the details of location and demographics...
My city has 2 universities, and 3 tech colleges... So near campus housing, there's actually a housing crisis.

it's a 1800 sq ft brick home, with a large barn/garage about 100 feet behind the house
Century 21 said they think the house, garage and 2 acres is worth around 110,000. I think I can buy it for around 75,000, and put around 20,000 down and put it on a 15 year loan which would make the payment 462 a month
House rents for around 550 a month, and the same people has been in there for around 6 years. a buddy of mine has a landscaping company and said he would give me 300 a month to store a couple of trucks and equipment in the garage out back
The only problem is that the house is in a flood zone, 10 years ago when we had that ''Monster'' flood, water got in the house :(
The garage has 2 new overhead doors on it, and has the potential to add 1 or 2 more, it's that big, 80 % of the floor is concrete
Would this be your first rental property? Dad and my brother both have several and it is a pain in the ass. How nice would you be when someone gets behind a month or so?......6 months? If you don't have the tenacity to drop the ball on them quick...don't buy.
Could you handle not having the $550 rent for 6 months or so? If not, don't buy.
How stable is your (and your wife's) jobs...and your marriage while we're at it?
If not stable...don't buy.
If you have made it this far....THEN BUY THE DANG THING!! Should have it paid off about retirement time, but still be of benefit before you die and the kids reap the benefits of all your hard work. :D

Answer: Personal Flotation Devices, Visual Distress Signals, Backfire Flame Arrestors, Fire Extinguishers, Marine Sanitation Devices, and perhaps the Certificate of Compliance could be interpreted as a CG approval label for the boat itself. Other safety equipment may be required or recommended, but most do not require CG approval labeling.

I actually ordered my seeds last week Thursday... (I posted it a few pages back... But I can repost tomorrow when I get back to the office, where I saved a copy.)
All Russian, siberian and East German tomoatoes... Originally meant to grow at my relative lattitude...
One of the cool things about Heirlooms is that they're open pollenators, so I can keep re-using the same seeds, and get the exact same tomatoes.
I ordered 150 seeds...
Mega Cherrys
Black Krim's
Italian tomoatoes handed down over 3 generations from Italy.
A sauce tomato, that's basically a Roman that just grows faster this far north.
And then my Whacko's...
The Ispolin (sp?) Russian for "Giant Freak"...
Makes 8 foot plants, and tomatoes described as "Slightly flattened softballs."
*****
I'm pretty excited, because regular Hybrid tomoatoes are like a door bell of flavor compared to the Pantera Concert of Flavor that is Heriloom tomatoes as mother nature originally made them.

http://finance.yahoo.com/taxes/article/106626/Your-Share-of-Stimulus-Tax-Breaks
Some Tax-Saving Scenarios
A single person with no children making between $20,000 and $30,000 would see a 12.5% reduction in his or her tax liability for an annual savings of $453. The same person making between $50,000 and $75,000 would see a 4.6% drop, or $626.
Tax Savings
How households may fare under the economic recovery plan.
Income Avg. Tax Savings Drop in Tax Bite
Under $19K $476 -95%
$19K-$38K $652 -22%
$38K-$66K $781 -9%
$66K-$112K $1,301 -7.5%
$112K-$161K $2,549 -8.3%
$161K-$227K $3,883 -8.3%
$227K-$603K $5,133 -5.7%
$2.8M plus $39,350 -1.4%
Source: The Tax Policy Center
At the upper income ranges, someone with income between $100,000 and $200,000 would see a 2.1% drop, which translates into $706.
With or without kids, a married couple filing jointly making between $50,000 and $75,000 could see a 10.5% drop for a savings of $991. Those making between $75,000 and $100,000 would see their tax liability go down 9.1%, or $1,457.
Couples with very high incomes -- between $200,000 to $500,000 -- could see a 7.5% decline in their tax bill, or $5,645.
Households with children, regardless of the parent's marital status, would see savings on their tax bill averaging 9.7% of their tax liability, or $1,975.
When You'll See Savings
The first tax credit filers will enjoy is the Making Work Pay credit, which will show up in increments in people's paychecks starting in April.
In some instances, such as with the first time home buyer's tax credit, the money can be claimed on one's 2008 tax return if the home purchase occurs between Jan. 1 and before Nov. 30 of this year.
But in many cases, a household won't see some of their stimulus savings until they file their 2009 returns, which they can't do until 2010.
Of course what filers' save on their federal taxes under stimulus may be muted by the fact that their cities and states -- facing steep budget shortfalls that will be lessened but not eliminated by stimulus funding -- may end up raising taxes and fees.

See... Here are the tomatoes I ordered...
I ordered the Heirloom Tomatoes today...
Might have gone a little overboard... :D
FYI... Here's what I ordered... 30 seeds per unit... Average germination is 75%
Opalka
An heirloom originally from East-Germany/Poland. One of the best tasting paste tomatoes, similar to a Roma with 5-inch long fruit shaped like a banana pepper with a pronounced tip on the bottom. Fruit has very few seeds, is extremely meaty and loaded with rich sweet flavors lending to it?s sauce appeal.
******
Moskovich
An wonderful, extra-early tomato from the Ukraine. This heirloom yields an abundance of deep red, 4-6 oz., smooth, cold-tolerant, round and slightly flattened fruits with a luscious, rich taste.
*******
Mrs. Maxwell's Big Italian
30 years ago Mrs. Maxwell of Mexico, Missouri was given tomato seeds by a friend from Italy. She valued the tomato so much that for the next thirty years she saved the seed, choosing the largest, earliest, non-cracking tomatoes each year. Her son passed the seeds on so we could share them. Our TomatoFest organic tomato seeds produce large, very prolific, indeterminate, potato-leaf tomato plants that yield 1-2 pound, 3 to 4-inch, dark-pink beefsteak tomatoes with incredible flavor. A perfect tomato for eating fresh off the vine or as a canning tomato or for cooking into a tomato sauce. Another winner!
Black Krim
(aka Black Crimson and Black Crim) Originally from the Isle of Krim on the Black Sea in the former Soviet Union. This rare, and outstanding tomato yields 3-4" slightly flattened dark-red (mahogany-colored) slightly maroon, beefsteak tomatoes with deep green shoulders. Green gel around seeds. Fantastic, intense, slightly salty taste (which is great for those not wanting to add salt to their tomatoes).
Black Krim is one of my best black tomatoes. Also suitable for container/patio garden. Perfect choice for slicing, salads and cooking.
Ispolin
One of the biggest Russian heirloom tomatoes. A giant tomato from Siberia. Name means 'Giant Freak' in Russian. Our Tomatofest organic tomato seeds produce indeterminate, regular-leaf, 8 foot vines that yield lots of 1-2-pound, dark jade-pink, juicy beefsteak tomatoes up to 4-inches with superb earthy, sweet tomato flavors. One of the Tomatofest favorite tomatoes for taste and market tomato. A delicious sandwich tomato or salad tomato. Rare tomato seeds.
*********
So I should end up with something like 100 tomato plants to turn into seedlings...
The Ispolin is a little much... But I just couldn't resist a tomato who's name is "Giant-Freak."
I'm tempted to reserve the Ispolin as a "Prank Tomato."
Just give it away with some of them... In Early may... And then just wait for the phone calls in Late July... "Uh Nainoa... What's up with this 8 foot monster tomato... It's like blocking out the sun in to the rest of the garden, and I'm getting a dead spot in the lawn!"

Putting the finishing touches on it...
And then I find out that the secretary who's trying for a promotion... Decided to also write the same research report.
It's bland... It's incomplete... Compiled from her spending 45 minutes just googling some bull****...
And my boss is just all happy fine and good with it...
basically... I wasted 12 hours of my life... Creating a quality insightful information and research report...
For friggin' nothing...
He just apparently didn't want to both googling up some **** himself.

Actually I read an article saying that something like 80% of all hybrid seeds fail in the second generation. As they're closed pollenators...
Same effect like breeding a horse and a donkey... The Mule you get is powerful handy beast...
But have fun breeding her to another Mule!

This year I figure I'm just going to grow Tomatoes... Peppers... And maybe some potatoes... But I'm only growing potatoes from Seed potatoes... Too much marginal failure from planting eyed spuds.
When the fish house gets back on Sunday, I'm going to paint the rear bunk frame black... Point that big window in the rear to the south... And make a wood heated green house out of her.
Still not sure what the hell I'm going to do with all of those goddam tomatoes, as far as where I'm going to plant them all!

Well... I figure I'm going to go crazy on Tomato recipes...
Luckily all the breeds I ordered are indeterminiate (Meaning that they produce a modest yeild till first frost... Rather than Determinates that tend to come to ripeness at one shot.)
So I figure I'll spread them out as best I can... Give some plants away here and there... And then make a bunch of Marinara sauces etc...
I'm trying to be more organic with my fertilizers this year... Making Fish scrap and table scrap compost fertilizer...
Holy Crap am I piling this stuff up...
Currently have 10 gallons... And working on a third bucket... And it hasn't even had a chance to rot yet!

Doing okay brother, we got a dusting of snow. Maybe 1 inch, no ice luckily.
March and April are always nasty months because it will thaw, get somewhat warmer then BAM......a cold front will pass through and freeze everything again and snow. I just can't stand the teaser those two months bring. It will most likely warm up to the 30's and 40's, melt all the snow and then out of nowhere, it'll dump about 1' of that WET, HEAVY snow. Since you guys are a little warmer, that must happen down there sooner.
Damn!! 50 degrees already.......your rivers must be getting close to being open?

My driveway is actually Asphalt Millings...
Basically when they grind up an old road... They'll mix it with some tack oil and put it down somewhere else...
It's a little rougher than new pretty concrete... And the guy who put it down for me kind of did a sloppy job...
But hey... It was free, and it was better than gravel!

Oh yeah my stretch of the Mississippi down here only freezes over in January... Otherwise she's always open with some significant shore ice.
Current is faster here though, so it makes a full freeze hard to happen.
And hour north of here though, the slower deeper rivers are still solid and people are ice fishing them.
******
Really though, for this eco-system... You want that snow in March to save April...
If there's no snow blanket, the ground warms too fast... Trees leave early... And then they transpire... Putting a lot of moisture into a still cool atmosphere... And then you get those long ass rainy streaks in May.
And May is the time to Play! Not rain.
*****
Looking at the Jet Streams though...
They're acting a little wonky...
Usually by this time of year if you're going to have an Early Spring, you see the Gulf stream come north, and the Arctic Stream go north...
The Gulf Stream is cooperating... But the Arctic Stream is REFUSING to break out of Winter Pattern.
So this Small Lion that coming in tomorrow...
Might just be the first of a March Lion Pattern that's going to pound us like a 2 dollar hooker...
Because we've got the perfect pattern for sloppy wet Gulf Moisture with just the right cold feeding from the North.

For me April always goes by in such a Flash...
Shore fishing, getting the boat ready, putting out docks, tilling the garden, putting away the winter stuff and pulling out the summer stuff... And then I always get a bunch of phone calls, from people who need help.
I hardly even have time to notice the weather!
For me Weather only matters when I'm planning a fishing trip...
Everything else just sort of happens...
I figure if the weather manages to stop me... It means it stopped the rest of the state to... So I should just stay home, drink beer and catch some re-runs of the jogging scenes of Baywatch!

Hey how is CM... Hope all is going well with him... I was just thinkin' about him the other day!
******
As for Spring fishing...
I've actually been helping a lot of my buddy's (along with some newbies) introduce their kids to fishing.
Shore fishing in Spring is actually the best.
What you want to look for...
And the more of these factors the better...
Stream or some kind of inlet that is pouring meltwater into the lake... This will have the most Dissolved Oxygen, compared to the Vegetation and O2 starved main basin.
Preferably shallow, with a drop off just out in the basin.
North Side (Where the water is the warmest due to the angle of the spring sun.)
East Side... (Where the water is second warmest due to the angle of the spring sun.)
If it's rocks and Gravel... You'll find perch and the occasional Walleye.
If it's weeds and Muck... You'll find pan fish.
And then remember the Rule of teh 4 S's...
Springtime
Shallow
Slow
Small
A wax worm on an ice jig under a SLIP BOBBER... Start high in the water column and work your way down... They will be at any depth in DO current, depending on the area and the daily weather.
******
I have all my Hot Spot's figured out... So I don't go looking for new one's anymore...
But when before I did and I was planning to take someone and their kids out... I would often go out the day before and scope out a couple of spots dialing them in.

I would also strongly recommend slip bobbers...
Kids and newbies tend to set the hook really hard with the rod...
If it's a clip bobber, this tends to send the bobber wheeling all over the place, causing tangles and crap...
But if you have a slip bobber... And for example... say you're in 7 feet of water... And they set the rod tip 6 feet...
All it does is shallow them up in the water column... Or even if they set the hook 8 feet... The bobber only comes a foot out of the water etc...
So it adds for a lot less total snag ups and WTF moments!

Well here's a very tiny "Stickin' it to the man."
I get three weeks of vacation... And if I don't use it I lose it... And they have WAY screwed me on it in the past. (Once went to a business conference, and they docked me vacation time for it... As if the conference was a vacation trip for me!)
*******
So I originally asked to leave early today to get the fish house with the sun up...
Then my buddy Jerome (Who's supposed to be helping me bring the Fish house back on Sunday Morning) Called in sick. (Looks like his metabolic disorder might be coming out of remission.) :(
So the only company and help I have this weekend is Marlon... Who has to be back home tomorrow afternoon.
So I took off today at noon, so we'd have more time and he can play escourt for me.
Only the Accountant called in sick... And so my half day off... Won't be recorded against my vacation time.
Oh Yeah...
I'm a friggin' rebel... Stickin' it to the man! :D
I wonder if it's true what they say... That stealing a half day of vacation is really the "Gateway Drug" to Arson, rape and murder?

I know, it's rediculous.
Hopefully today is the last day of this crap. Looking like 20's and 30's for next week
Well... It should be cold for the weekend... Simply because we get our air mass off the Dakota's... And the Dakota's got a massive snow pack in this storm.
But next week, forecast is all upper 20's and low 30's.
Mark my words though...
We're going to see this as a 3 Lion Year... And this is only Lion 1 of 3...

Good afternoon ramblers. I have enjoyed a week off from lifting and will be hitting hit hard again tomorrow. It looks like we have another batch of winter weather before spring gets here.
Thanks again. I'll have to ask him if someone under 18 needs a fishing license in the state of Wisconsin...I can't remember. Pony Creek off of Lake Poygan sounds like the best option from the information you provided.
I'll let him know the next time we talk.
Try to plan to make it fun and enjoyable without considering the fishing. The more action on the fishing the better no matter what kind of fish. But, if it is a slow day have a back up plan to fall back too.
Tell CM we said Hi.

Oooppphhhff...
Damn do I feel like I've been ridden hard and put away wet.
If you've ever wonder "What is it like to jump an F-150 Dukes of Hazzard style?" I'd have to advise from personal experience to take a pass.
Holy **** was taking the fish house in an adventure.
10 inches of snow the night before... No Ice road... No other houses in the area... Drifts up to 20 inches... Temp was -2... Thankfully the wind died down.
Had to use the low snow areas to build up speed to bunch through the succession of drifts. (This time of year sun and wind friction make drifts on the lake hard enough that you can stand on top of them.)
Jack stands were frozen 4 inches into the ice... Luckily torches and chisels went a long way.
Coming back in... My Buddy Marlon pulled the house and I broke trail a head of him...
I was coming into a really nasty area of tall difts... So I had to punch it, didn't want to get stuck and then stop Marlon behind me, with the house on his hitch.
I must have been going about 40 MPH when I hit what must have been an old windrow from an ice road...
Friggin' LAUNCHED...
Then of course when you drive on the ice, you NEVER wear your seatbelt (In case you have to ditch etc... )
****... I hurt everywhere from that landing.
But all seemed okay...
Fought our way into the bay...
Caught 2 Perfect keeper Pike (But the season just closed so they went back)
Caught 8 Crappies between 10-12 inches... NICE...
Granted the one that took every single rattle reel at 4:20 am... Was not my greatest moment.
Got down to -27 (No windchill) on the lake over night...
Had the wood stove so hot that it was friggin' glowing in places...
Took 3 of the coldest pisses of my life last night!
*****
Then of course driving back this morning... Murphy was in full effect... Friggin' blew another coil.
Luckily Marlon was right behind me so we switched up.
Sucks... there's another $150 out the door!
I knew more coils were going to go... Just going this soon, is the worst case scenario.
******
you know... I gotta say... Thank God for my Buddy Marlon...
There was a lot of "Roller Coaster" in this trip... And he was totally, the perfect A-team player... 110% Jonny on the spot, stepped up as hard and as fast as possible for every single problem... And we still laughed our asses off the whole damn time.
Got back here... And I offered him cash for Gas money... And he said "No man... I didn't do anything for you in all this, that you wouldn't have done for me."
It really is a blessing to have truly good friends.

That's the way the Suzuki Samurai community used to be. I'd have towed you out holmes, I can has many diesel torques. :D Now I know I NEVER want to play on the ice in the Great White North, y'all can have it, I'll take my bridges in the Keys or poling along the flats there.

Well it was a blast driving around out there... Basically just the winter equivalent of Muddin'...
It was just the whole jumping and plowing my chest into the steering wheel that sucked!
I'm feeling a lot better today though...

Still got that bitter cold sitting over top of me while those Dual Low's over you guys are keeping this Arctic high in place...
But coming up for the middle of this week through next weekend we've got forecasted highs crawling all the way up into the low to mid 40's...
And from what I saw from the fish movements and staging, they're staging up for an early spring...
So things are looking good.

Damn...
I'm thawing the crappies from yesterday in a bucket of salt water, and the cats are going CRAZY... Feel like some lion tamer with a chair and whip, trying to keep them from crawling into the goddam bucket the second I turn my back.
They are absolutely CRAZY for fish blood!

husband stalking around with a fly swatter
"What are you doing?"
She asked.
"Hunting Flies"
He responded.
"Oh. ! Killing any?"
She asked.
"Yep, 3 males, 2 Females," he replied.
Intrigued, she asked.
"How can you tell them apart?"
He responded,
"3 were on a beer can,
2 were on the phone."

No worries here. Didn't have to drive to work in the mess today.
Matter of fact, I won't ever have to drive to work again, as I got laid off on Friday. I guess there is a bright side to everything. :)

We weren't supposed to get any last night...all east of us. But, I woke up to about 2", so we just caught the western edge of this strom. Take it easy over there.

Well, if you mean backup plan as in another job lined up, no.
I am planning on ramping up efforts to secure any employment, even if it's short term or temp work - every little bit helps. I also plan on doing more volunteer work, as previously I never had enough time, but now I do.
It's just another chapter in my life; not the end of the book.

Very true...
But I would still go sign in for Unemployment, if you haven't already.
I mean you've already paid for some portion of it... So might as well get some of your money back!

I thought that went without saying.
That is a no-brainer. Filed my claim for the first week last night.
I'm not independently wealthy such that I don't need the government mandated benefits.
