Morning Ramblers!!!
Who's ready for some football? :D
Hey Ripper...
So Last night I went out for a belated birthday dinner with my wife and parents...
My Dad gave me a painting canvas (As he knows I paint) and he gave me this birthday card, with the Iwo Jima Photo. (His beloved Gunny was on Mount Suribachi that day, and always told the story.)
Inside the cared it said "Most Father's never get to know the pride I do at being able to see their son become more of a man than they ever were. You've got the heart of a warrior, the soul of a poet, with the wisdom and courage of a great leader.
You're my beloved Gunny Sargent of a Son.
Love P.F.C. (His Name)
****
So I was thinking for a Christmas present I would paint that flag raising.
Only I'm having a problem finding a representation of that image that's crisp enough to paint from.
I've see "Parts" of the image that had decent detail and color... But for some reason I can't find the full image in color...
Any help?

Okay... So here's a bit of a tricky question...
You here about certain breeds that get hip displasia (sp?)
Now is that just from within their breed inbrreding...
OR does it mean that if I get a mixed breed like say a Golden retriever German Shepherd cross... That I still have a concern for HD?

Negged for making me convert to gallons!! :D If I could go cruise The Great Barrier Reef for fuel, that would be ONE HELL OF A DEAL!
Nainoa, certain breeds are prone to hip/joint problems. It's hereditary, so even a Shep mix can have these issues.
Good reputable breeders will test their breeding stock. For GSD's you would look for (ideally) a breeder who OFA certifies hips and elbows. Your good breeder will also CERF test the eyes (cataracts and other diseases), and in a perfect world, will also test for heart diseases.
GSD can have a LOT of genetic problems, not necessarily related to inbreeding or line breeding. If either of the parent dogs have a problem, this problem can be passed onto the offspring. Testing is the only way these problems can be eliminated from the breed itself.

Apple is nice... Just buy 2 of the same breed, that flower at the same time... They can smell each other through the ethelene givinen off by their roots...
So while they don't "Mate" like animals... Putting two similar ones together will go MUCH farther than just one.
And when the apple dies... You can cut it up and BBQ with it!!!

As far as I'm concerned I refer to everything after the black album as "The Sold Out" period of Metallica.
Up to Black they were a band... After Black they are no different than any other band driven more by the marketing machine than the legacy.
From where I sit. Post Black Album Metallica and the Back Street Boys, show the same level of talent and heart when it comes to quality of music.

Yeah see I was a long haired head bangin' black wearing superfreak back in the early to mid 90's...
Metallica was what I started on... And quickly became my "Soft Listening" Music.
My real meat and potatoes was Pantera.
In 1992 I followed their Vulgar Display of Power Summer Tour as much as I could, through the upper midwest.
I still to this day listen to "Vulgar Display" and "Far Beyond Driven."

So Ripper, and other like minded patriots.
On my FF message board there were a couple of people running their mouths about their freedom of speech rights and this whole "So I can say whatever I want!"
I kind of got on a soap box, and replied.
You know I hear a lot of people running their mouth about their freedom of speech. And how you assume that since you pay taxes that it means you've done your part to pay for that freedom.
But have you ever gone to a Military Funeral. Have you ever stood there with your hand over your heart during the gun salut. Have you said a silent prayer while they folded that flag and handed it to his trembling widow. Then walked over there, to shake her hand, and realize that there's not a damn thing you can say to her that matters in any significant way.
The next time you hear Bill O'Reiley or Hannity and Combs or whomever, encourage you to run your mouth, about their topic of the day... You stop and think about that soldier laying in that casket. Because the pissy couple of dollars that got pulled out of your pay check that you think has bought you the right to abuse your freedom of speech doesn't mean ****, compared his sacrifice.
He's the one who paid for your freedom of speech... He's the one who paid for you to run your Fracking Mouth. He doesn't get to use his freedom of speech to share his values with his children and grandchildren. Only you, left amongst the unsacrificed living get this opportunity.
And you should feel sick and ashamed, that you choose to abuse this freedom given to you so easily. When in reality you should exercise this freedom with the same kind of noblity and solemn purpose with which he gave his life to provide it.

I took my son to an Extreme Motorcross event this week; during the National Anthem we should, faced the flag and placed a hand over our hearts. When it was done my son asked me why do we have to do this? I simply replied we live in a free country and many people gave their lives so we could be free. Then I explained freedom in kid terms; all in all I was very happy to see the light go on in his head.
One of our family rules is RESPECT and our night time discussions have included the Military. Regardless of current political or economic status the USA is still a very special place.

Yeah the older I get the more I regret that I didn't join the Military in family tradition.
But it was important to the family pride also that we have someone (Other than "Old Doc" who graduated from Citadel in 1914) graduate from college.
I mean in the end it's about my Great-Great-Grandfather's dream of a better life, as to why we came to America... And with me going to college... My child will be the first member of my family born middle class.
I personally believe that you earn the right to complain when you're doing something about the problem.
Really... If all the people who are too apathetic to contribute would just shut their goddam mouths, maybe those of us who give a damn about making things better could hear each other more clearly. Instead of shouting over the emboldent white noise, made by the mouths of idiots!

Totally agree. For me it all goes back to Cliff. They should have really taken their time and found the right guy, not just a competent guy who could play the parts, get along and not get in the way. Cliff was MUCH more than just the bass player, he was a major creative force in that band, a schooled musician, and the perfect counterweight to the creative axis of Lars/James. Newstead just couldn't fill those shoes. Trujillo isnt the right guy either as SKOM makes perfectly clear. He's coming from funk and slap bass, and Lars is about the un-funkiest drummer in the entire Universe.

Frack that whole death metal, speed metal, thrash Metal, Ma-Bell's Pedal Metal, labeled up bull****.
As far as I'm concerned Metal is Metal and it doesn't need any of that pussified labeling bull****... That labeling and marketing crap can get used for alternative or rap, or whatever the hell.
As far as I'm concerned Listening to metal is like getting kicked in the balls with a steel toed boot. (YES hard life.) It doesn't matter what brand it is, all that matters is that it's hard, and true, and leaves you doubled over after the concert!

As for Best Metal Band of the common era... (So not counting sabbath and those other 70's pioneer gigs.)
I've got to stand by Pantera.
They offered a certain level of music that was also about instilling you with faith in yourself... And building personal strength... Where a lot of stuff just focused on negative energies, just like how love songs are written to make teenagers cry.
Pantera was there to help you get angry about **** that actually mattered... instead of getting angry about stuff that was "Shooting fish in a barrel angst."

A cowboy, who is visiting Wyoming from Texas, walks into a bar
and orders three mugs of Coors. He sits in the back of the room,
drinking a sip out of each one in turn. When he finishes them, he
comes back to the bar and orders three more.
The bartender approaches and tells the cowboy, 'You know, a mug
goes flat after I draw it. It would taste better if you bought one
at a time.'
The
cowboy replies, 'Well, you see, I have two brothers. One is in
Arizona, the other is in Colorado. When we all left our home in
Texas, we promised that we'd drink this way to remember the days
when we drank together. So I'm drinking one beer for each of my
brothers and one for myself.'
The bartender admits that this is a nice custom, and leaves it there.
The cowboy becomes a regular in the bar, and always drinks the
same
way. He orders three mugs and drinks them in turn.
One day, he comes in and only orders two mugs. All the regulars
take notice and fall silent. When he comes back to the bar for the
second round, the bartender says, 'I don't want to intrude on your
grief, but I wanted to offer my condolences on your loss.'
The cowboy looks quite puzzled for a moment, then a light dawns in
his eyes and he laughs.
Oh, no, everybody's just fine,' he
explains, 'It's just that my wife and I joined the Baptist Church
and I had to quit drinking.' Hasn't affected my brothers

I grew up with Sabath, AC/DC, Jimmy, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and the likes. I still think that they are the best. If there was an era I could go back to that would be it.

Oh, no, everybody's just fine,' he
explains, 'It's just that my wife and I joined the Baptist Church
and I had to quit drinking.' Hasn't affected my brothers
though.'
True and funny, it reminds me of the LDS guys I used to fish with in Wyo, you never took just one because if you did he would drink all your beer. Take two and they would swear they never touch the stuff.:D

LOL...
Last year my boss grew some "Scotch bonnet peppers" he thought "Hey they sound cute... My girlfriend loves garden grown produce... And from the picture of orange peppers he figured they were just a type of bananna pepper.
So when he ate the first one like it was a hershey's kiss, he was not prepared to go down to one knee.
So he gave me his full harvest of 2 pounds of Habenero peppers...
I called my Buddy Spazz and Javier... Which they are to hot pepper eating what Michael Phelps and Mark Spitz are to Olympic Gold Medals.
Only neither one of them can cook to save their ass... Well... I've been teaching spazz to be a decent sous chef for me when we're out camping... But Javier, is a Mexican who loves hot food, but thinks that picking up dinner at the BK drive thru as "Cooking."
So whenever hot food comes up... They bring it to me...
Last Labor Day weekend we cooked up a Vat of salsa that we called "Pit Fiend Vomit."
When we brought it to a boil with the fan blowing out the window, it was pretty harsh... Pretty much maced ourselves...
The best part was when my cat Ayla jumped in the window... Caught a giant lung full of the "Death Vapors" and started projectile vomiting cat food all over the foyer!
Somehow I think poor little Ayla might be looking at a similar experience in the soon to be future!

The best way to do it is to cure the Salmon first... But hey... I'm friggin feeling lazy.
If you want to salt & Brown sugar cure it... Just mix a half cup of salt and a cup of sugar... Patt it on the night before... Wrap and refridgerate... wake up in the morning... Clean it off... Blow it with a fan while you start the grill/smoker.
Now I'm going to skip the cure this time... (It adds about 15%-20% of unctiousness.)
But from there, you fire up the charcoal grill or the smoker. (Again Grilling with propane is a sin.)
I like to go with wood chips... 50% mesquite chips, and 50% hickory chips. *Most people would go hickory... But Hick is a little to mild for my tastes.)
Oak... Especially like recycled burbon barrel oak is prett damn kick ass!!!
Soak the chips in water for at least 4 hours before smoking.
So then I take about 45 mins to an hour... small Charcoal fire that I keep feeding with wood chips on one side... Fish on the other.
My Wife and I prefer Fresh Skin on Wild Caught Saukeye, over the dribbling prostate Farm raised skin off, pre-Frozen King. (Despite the fact that the SE is twice the price.)
*If you do buy skin off... Buy cedar planks (Untreated) and set it on that)
I smoke it till it's 150-160 internal temp.
It's got the same smokey BOOM that Bacon does, with that smooth mouth feel... Yet the flakiness of fish.. PLUS... It's got all of the healthy fatty acids that come in any old fish oil.
It really is closest that all my epicurian skills can come to "Healthy Bacon."

****
You know late in 1995... I was fresh out of the blackest point of my recovery from drug abuse.
And I tell you... I might have been clean chemically... But my soul was broken and battered... Tattered empty and destoryed. Like my life has been going recently, every turn I took I ran into a dead end.
I was very much in a phase of my life where I was self educating instead of self medicating. I would just go to book stores, grab a book off the shelf and read it. I accepted that I was an empty cup, and I needed to fill myself up somehow.
I remember I screwed up some particulary stupid thing in my very young life... Flipped out... Grabbed a book out of my then meager (Now Massive) library... Hopped in my Piece of **** T-bird and I just started driving.
I got lost in the rural country side on po dunk roads... All of a sudden I come upon this town... This church... I pulled into the parking lot... And I realized then that it was the same church my father was born and baptised in... A rural country church some 57 years later.
I reached down and cracked the spine on the book I'd grabbed.
"The words of Gandhi."
The page I popped open... The first quote written at the top, screaming out at me...
"We must become the change we wish to see."
And it hit me like a bolt of lightning, wired to the backside of my nutsack...
My focus, had been only about inward focus... Only about what I wanted to see... What I wanted to feel... The way I wanted my life to be.
Now knowing and doing something about it are two different things... And I promised myself that when I had healed enough, that one day I would become the change in the world that I wished to see.
It's many years later now... And while the forests of my life still burns... I am stronger now than I have ever been.
I now realize that the world is wired that for us to find true success we must be able to serve. Not sacrifice all, or to wound one's self... But to serve... To help... When we can... In that way... We all heal...
In that way... We all become the change we wish to see....
Or as I've recently added into my lexicon of sayings... "The ability to serve others, is just as important in the living of a good life, as the ability to conquer great challenges."

In between catching up on all the cleaning my wife left behind while I was up north last week... I ran to the grocery store, to get my supplies for Fish Bacon tonight, and Chilli Relleno tomorrow.
I was walking out of the grocery store... Kids everywhere, and old people... And some douchebag driving around in his boom car, windows rolled down blasting rap music...
And it's all Muther-F*cker this and B*tch that...
Now I swear as much of more than your average guy walking down the street... But I always watch my language around kids etc...
This guy is just driving in circles in the parking lot waiting for whomever to come out... Blasting swear words and profanity.
This little old lady comes up to the car and says "Sir can you turn it down please?"
He he yelled something I didn't catch all of... I just heard "Free Country" and "You old B*tch!"
So I tossed my groceries in the box of my truck and said "Hey *******... Turn it down... Listen to cuss words on your own... Don't make these kids hear that crap!"
And finally he figured it out, and turned it down... Then drove off and parked, and all the people around me clapped... One old guy came up and shook my hand.

Well Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary, to you fellas. Those are some milestones for sure,
I've also had pretty good luck jigging and slow trolling those Storm Wildeye swimbaits. Most of them have the hook come out on top, so they dont hang up as easily as my usual jighead-swimbait combo.

So yesterday was pepper day...
Every year Spazz and I process peppers from the garden, get spicy eye, and make a bunch of spicy foods...
GreenFeather was good enough to send me a bunch of hungarians, and scotch bonnets and such.
So yesterday we went hog wild... I even made Chille Releno... Smoked creamy chicken in one... Nuclear Beef in the other.
With guts loaded to the brim with more hot peppers than the average human being eats in a year... We settled in for a couple of whiskeys and BEAST.
Then just as we're about to go to bed, my wife comes out of the bathroom with this look on her face like a puppy that just peed on the carpet...
She completely cracked the flange on the toilet... Flushed and the whole damn tank poured out on the floor.
So now here I am... The day after a Nuclear Pepper Binder, having to crap in a bucket, while I scrape up parts to try to re-re-repair the toilet... On a day when every hardware store in town is closed.
Sometimes I wonder if I'm just like God's favorite comedy show!

Sucks about your toilet bro :(

Well it looks like something has plugged the main jack to the septic system... So there was just so many flushes in that toilet... Before it had pressure to the already compromised flange, that she cracked back in the spring, when she was leaning on the toilet while doing her make up.
So while I still have to fix the seal and wax ring (Parts which I was wise enough the last time to keep in reserve.) I've still had to do battle with this master clog.
I suspect that this is somehow linked to that bathroom sink problem I had a while back... I think it might be that I forced whatever that evil sink clog was, into the main line, where it's wreeking havoc on this prehistoric plumbing.
If it wasn't for the fact that I'm looking to sell and move a year from now... If I was going to stay here for another 5-10 years... I'd rip everything down to the bones and re-install...
But as it stands... I'm not dropping $2K and a ton of work into a house that I'm going to sell 12 months from now, that the developer is going to drive a bulldozer into.

It's a little bit complicated...
Generally a Chili Relleno is a poblano or anaheim pepper, that's roasted, stuffed and then deep fried.
And as much as I like fried food... I figured I'd pass this time.
So I started doing a regular mesquite smoke... Then put out 2 chicken breasts, with just a salt and pepper rub. (Left the skin on, and smoked on the bone!!)
I smoked the chicken for an hour first... Then pulled out the poblano's... Sliced a slit into them... Seeded as best I could... Then set them out there with the chicken, and smoked them.
Gave it another hour or so, until the peppers looked softish and ready, and the chicken was done.
Then I shreaded the chicken (Ate the smoked skin as a snack for the chef!!!)
Mixed the chicken with 4 table spoons of Low Fat Sour cream... And 2 table spoons of reduced fat creme cheese... Including heavy Garlic, and herbs.
Added a small sauteed yellow onion. (Chopped)
Mixed them up good... And stuffed into the peppers that were getting the chicken stuffing.
Then I put all the peppers into a lasagna pan...
Pulled out my base red sauce (I make a scratch Vegetable Beef tomotoe sauce out of bulk, that if you add garlic and herbs to becomes a spaghetti sauce... Or added taco meat and chili powder becomes a cheap quick chili base... At 50 cents for 2 servings, vs $3.00 at the grocery store it's a simple money saving opportunity.)
So I mixed the red sauce with a ton of chili powder... Poured it over the peppers...
Topped it with some mexican shreaded cheese... And baked for 20 minutes to heat everything back up and melt the cheese.
2 peppers (One creamy chicken and one Nuclear Beef) was a little more than I could eat!
Ultimately though... One could make the creamy chicken part of it... And then just add some red pepper flake... Roll it up in a tortilla and have a pretty damn awesome nuveo borritto!

Houston... We have a problem...
The Evil Clog has officially one...
But I got a look at him... Or should I say "Her."
So as I'm plungering and plungering, and plungering...
And all of a sudden, all the drains go down...
YAY! Victory!!!!
So I go outside... And look at the septic line...
BONE DRY... Except of course a ROPE of my wife's hair clog extending from the main house jack... EIGHT FEET through the pipe to where I could open the first cap.
Go in the house... And I smell sewer gas...
Go in the basement... And there's water pouring out in the false basement...
Can't see the actual broken pipe because the hole into the false basement is too small for me to crawl into... I can get a head and an arm to hold a flashlight.
*****
So now I'm clearning a path... Might start hitting the wall with the sledge tonight... Depends... I'm out of gas already...
I figure if I empty the checking and the savings I ought to be able to get a plumber in here to replace, repair and clear out.
Guess these old pipes just couldn't take this much hair, random food and other assorted evil running down them.
*****
So I'm in the process of shipping my wife and her ferrets off to her mothers for the week (Or however long) till I can get it all fixed.
I officially lost this one! :(

Wow, Brothers... I think I just broke something in my friggin' head.
After a day of slaving away... Battling plumbing, toxic fumes, moving a million boxes, out of the obscure corner of my basement, banging away on the wall to try and get in... And still failing etc...
I was sitting in my chair just now after giving myself a sponge bath out a bucket of hose water... Thinking about my check book balance and what I can pay the plumbers...
And all I can think is... "You know... Life ain't that bad."
Have you ever had one of those moments in the course of your life where you just have this moment of clarity... This "Ah-Ha!" Like you turned a corner in your life... Even though you didn't realize that you were turning it.
You didn't realize that it was even happening... And you don't even know how things changed... But just this sense... Like... "Everything's going to be alright."
I've just had one of the ****tiest days in a really long time. But the beauty of it... Is that I can look at the struggles ahead with clarity... That everything made sense before... And everything will make sense again... All I have to do is keep showing up?

Last year a bad storm went through the area, the power at my house was out for about 3 hours, it was dark outside, so we had to light a couple of candles for light........It turned out to be some of the best ''family'' time weve had in a long time.
We had a couple of candles in our family room and all 5 of us was in there the whole time, we had more fun talking about every day life and laughing about anything and everything. Any other day I would be outside doing something, kids would be on the computer or playing games, wife would be cleaning on the inside of the house. We really had a few hours of family time :)
We need to pretend that the power is out more often (serious) !!

I tend to "Unplug" a lot... And good conversation is one of the true joys in my life.
As I once said to an old mentor of mine who remarked "It's amazing how you always have something to talk about or some story to tell." I was 25 at the time, and I told her "Yeah I'm pretty sure if you locked me in a room with one person, it would take me 26 years to tell the story of my 25 years of life!"
Plus I think at the heart of what's given the pickup truck of America it's current cultural flat tire... Is the breakdown of quality time the American Family spends together.
Now politicians will tell you it's about broken homes... But I don't think that's the case.
I think it's about US making US too busy, to spend time communicating and re-enforcing values.
I mean think back 10,000 years ago... Human beings absolutely had to work together in groups in order for us to survive. We didn't just take communal meals together because it was a snappy way to cook. We took communal meals together, because it was a way for G'Tok-Tok who was hunting horn buck each day to touch base with Mekinto, the guy who plowed fields.
We took the time to come together as a group... To share stories, to develop and strengthen values.
Every single friggin' day.
Now our kids are raised by the internet and TV... And we hope that we had enough conversations with them while driving in the car for them to grow up into good people.
*****
Now for me... I don't have children.
But I do have friends of 26-27 years now, that are as close as family... And we spend a lot of time in the bush or on the ice together... Touching base, and talking about "Stuff that really matters."
******
I think ultimately that the challenges of this life are like a crucible that burns off weakness and ignorance leaving behind Wisdom and strength.
And I think as a people, the more we come together simply to talk about it all... The more efficiently we burn off the impurities of a bad life to live a good one.

Actually last night after my body finally cashed out from all the plumbing battles... I was watching a Marathon of one of my favorite show's "No Reservations."
The guy was in Spain touring different unique restaurants, foodie groups etc...
One place he stopped, was this guy... All he does is cook over charcoal.
He has two regulated woodstoves, that he loads with oak, to burn... And per each order he shovels out a little bit of oak charcoal... And put's it under one of his MANY adjustable grill hoods...
Then he can lower and raise the grill for temp control.
He's got special basket things for frying and sauteeing OVER WOOD HEAT.
That's all he does... His entire menu is grilled...
He's the friggin' ultimate master of everything that is grilling...
His "Apprentice" is a guy from Australia... Who works like a slave for him to learn the absolute technique.
****
And to think... There are some people out there who just fire up a Propane grill, toss a hunk of random beast on it to "Make meat hot" and cover up the bland failings of the food with lame ass sauces!

Morning fellas.
Hey life begins at 40. I used to think that was just a cliche people used to make themselves feel better about getting older.
It's not.
We had a good weekend out here. I kayaked a total of 21 miles, two solo trips and a 6 miler with Susie last night in Newport Bay.
Got a decent halibut yesterday morning on a carolina-rigged anchovy, in about 50' of water off San Pedro.
http://i33.tinypic.com/161c3k4.jpg
Saturday caught a real oddity, a corbina - rarely seen or caught anywhere but the surf very shallow bays - on a Megabait jig in 40' of water in the middle of a huge kelp paddy. Literally the last fish you'd expect to find in kelp. This was off Dana Point, south of here.
http://i34.tinypic.com/wc0aqw.jpg
Had a good lift on Saturday, played some guitar, that was about it. I guess I'm ready to go back to work. Can't believe it's September already, but I'm glad we're here. Prime weather, prime fishing.

The Clog has been defeated!!!
It took three plumbers from two different companies, plus me, the love of Jesus and the Magic of the Healing Bear Spirit... But the clog has FINALLY been defeated!
The guy running the power Auger outside... Was running it, and he cries out "I think I hit something big!"
So we run outside and we all look down the sewer pipe... The says JESUS CH-CHRIST Save Us! As this thing just explodes down the pipe...
Imagine is someone wrapped a German Shepherd up in a thousand rolls of toilet paper, and then jammed him into a 4 inch pipe.
The guy scratched his gray head turned... Looked at me and said... "In almost 20 years of doing this, that one has got to be in the Top 5 of worst one's I've ever seen... I have no clue how you plungered that thing as far as you did!
To which the other plumber up in the house responded... "You should see what he did to the pipes!
Turns out the pipe I thought I ruptured...
Oh I didn't rupture it...
But I did plunger it so hard and for so long that that I exceeded the pressure tolerance of the compression fittings... And it was the compression collar that finally gave before the clog did.
Had I known that was the case I could have fixed that myself... But honestly... I am officially sick and goddam tired of messing around with plumbing...
God I want to move!

Of course while I was driving meat juice poured off the plate and onto my crotch... So now it looks like I urinate beef blood, and pissed my pants!
Forgot all about it... And now I'm at work like this... No one has called me on it yet though!
LOL...Have any hound dogs started following you around and sniffing your crotch with more than the usual sniffing due that area?

Okay... Does this seem wrong to you guys...
They gave me a bunch of text for a sizing chart for jerseys...
And they claim that XXXL, for someone who is 6'3" 260 is a 46 inch chest.
I'm a XXL 6'4" 252 with a 49.5" chest...
I'm trying to figure out if this is a Typo... Or if it's just Korean sizing, and I'm not as Dainty as I thought?
Definitely wrong sizing. I'm 6'1" and 205lbs and have a ~45" chest and most shirts I fit between a M and XL depending on the cut. I have a baseball jersey that is an XL and it is too large on me.
I would expect XXXL to be way north of 50" chest.

In American sizing, I'm XXL, getting damned cose to XL, something I haven't been in 20 years. European sizing, I'm somewhere between XXXL and XXXXXL!

I walked through the door and bumped into a co-worker, explained the situation, as to why I might have to leave at some point... But was about to call a plumber.. And she said "Hey... Try this guy... he's great!"
Called, and they're going to make an opening today to come out and give me an assessment and auguer out my pipes.
It's amazing sometimes, how if you just "Live life forward." Solutions seem to present themselves... And when you "Live by falling back" you always get chased down by your troubles.
I love to ride problems and let them sort themselfes out. My wife thinks I have special powers and keeps making me play loto. But in fact it's just how things go I guess.

What do you do for footings on such a thing?
What are you thinking for a top? Just cut a 55 gal drum in half, and hinge it?

One thought I'd interject...
In that Spanish grill master I saw... All of his grills, were removeable rods... So you could take each and every single rod out and clean it... So you never got anything stuck in a corner...
He'd just get done with 1 service shift... Pull all the rods, drop them in a bucket of soapy water over night... Wipe them off the next morning and put them back into place.

I worked for a bricklayer for a summer and we built a couple. We would usually pour a concrete slab then let it cure for a week or so then build on that. Most of the time we just left them something to attach a hinge. Several times we took old metal refrigerator doors with the insulation taken out and used that. They looked cool

Usually just a squre of arch type opening in the front with a metal door on it. The pit itself would be about half full of dirt and bricks and then we poured a small slab inside for the bottom. So if it stood 3 feet high at the front then about half that would be used as the actual pit.

Ugly Stick has been a real warrior rod for me...
My only complaint is that when it comes to finesse techniques, it lacks the sensitivity that I really want. So I make up for it by using fireline.

I got the Shock Proof - Water Resistant "Boulder" phone... For $75... Normal retail $380!

happy belated man. i looked up that phone, it looks killer! mines on the rough side also but i just dont have the money right now to get an upgrade
funny fishing story maybe you guys can get a chuckle out of. monday morning i got up at 7am to meet my buddy and his 2 year old son. it was their first fishing trip together (jeffs got a 93 20 foot open bow chaparral (sp?) ) and i got invited to tag along. i think jeffs wife felt alittle better about it also knowing someone else would be there to help out on the boat. i was just stoked to go fishing. long story short i have a short fuse for things when they break or arent working correctly.
were out on the water having a blast. swimming, catch small fish for jeff jr, getting baked in the sun. all day long we tried getting his video camera (old sony they have had for years) to fire up and film his their first fishing trip. i took a bunch of pics but we wanted video. finally i leaned over and said bro if that was mine it would be sitting at the bottle of the lake. no more than 5 minutes later i hear something hit the water good. i figured it was seagulls hitting the dead fish.
nope it was his sony camcorder HAHAHAHHAH. i just started dieing. we get home (4 hours later than planned because we were having fun) and jeffs like "honey, you know how we were thinking about a new camcorder, we NEED one now" LOOOL good times

Speaking of throwing stuff away...
My buddy Jerome and I were sitting around the fire one night up camping... And all of a sudden he says "Hey... What a strange sparkly piece of sand... That's really remarkable!" He shows it to me... And it was like this really sparkly pebble.
We were pretty drunk and I told him to stop being facinating by sparkly things!
And he tossed the sparkly pebble over his shoulder onto the beach.
Next morning we wake up and he says "Oh Crap... I'm missing one of the big diamonds out of my wedding ring!"
LOL... The Sparkly pebble from the night before had been his diamond after it fell out.
So right now there's a $600 diamond SOMEWHERE on this little island up north.

Yeah it was insured...
He and his Wife are DINKS, so they kind of play fast and loose with their money...
Not like Snow-Pea and his wife, who play fast and loose with their credit cards.
Snow-Pea's Wife recently confided in me that they have $43,000 in Credit Card Debt.
Meanwhile snow pea is showing off all this fancy new stuff he bought, as if it makes him cool to buy a new computer every 6 months.
Meanwhile his bathroom floor is rotting out, but he doesn't have the money to get it fixed, because apparently the contractors don't take Visa!

We had family contributions around $8,000 and then my Dad Paid $2,000 for the open bar.
All told while my wife put some stuff on the card with the intention of paying it off, and then procrastinate... All told we came in at budget...
To this day everyone claims my $10,000 wedding was the best wedding they've ever been to!
Now granted, I kind of inspire a lot of love in the people around me, have friends for decades, some dating back to child hood... And play "Big Brother" to a lot of people... So it was a warm crowd to start out with...
Add an open bar that lasted for 7 hours, and the wheels were sufficiently greased.
It was kind of funny... Half the hall was my Wife's Giant family... The other half was my friends.

It'll be 2 seperate entities, a smoker and then a grille outside of that. I have some stainless sheets that I will be bending over to make the 1/2 round shape.I want it to last and when I leave, it WILL go with me. I also have 15 feet or so of 1/2" stainless rod, I'll probably do what you were saying, make them all removable for cleaning.

LOL... Yes my friend I've been very tortured over my whole writing a book thing... Many very long thousand page failed attempts fill many a hard drive across this northern realm.
When it comes to my writing... While I've become technically stronger... And I know how to appeal to a reader MUCH better now than I did back in the day when I took my massive vocabulary out for a spin far too often.
I'm still missing something... Somewhere along the line I lost my faith... Lost my direction... Lost some piece of my magic...
I'm actually right now, these days, in the middle of a Shamanic Spritual Healing called "Soul Retreival." (I am after all 1/3 Christian 1/3 Buddhist and 1/3 Medicine man.) :D
Many Shamanic Cultures believe that when something tragic happens to a person that sometimes a piece of their soul leaps out of them... And it can't always find it's way back.
It is considered spiritually arrogant to discuss the relationship of the experience... But to put it incredibly simply... I'm currently in a process of "Turning my creative light up" to make a beacon bright enough so that the lost pieces of myself can find their way back to me.
So far things have been going very well!
****
Yeah I hear ya on the whole watching the money pour out during the wedding planning... I'll still never get $850 wedding dress wrapped around my poor little head!
LOL!
But I looked at it as my first duty as a husband was to help my wife have the "Special Day" she wanted.
It was a practice of learning that duty which has served me well so far...
I could never be like my friend Snow-Pea and his wife... Who are "Best Friends."
If I wanted to F*ck my best friend, I'd turn Gay and I'd get to watch more football, catch more fish, and drink more beer.
For me my Wife is my Companion and there's a reverent duty that I have to her, that is a vigilant part of my every day actions.
Planning the Wedding was my first step towards experiening that.

Frack I wish I had some doughnuts here at the office!
They're even out of the good coffee, so I had to bring some of my own from home!
I refuse to drink coffee made from grounds!

Cool, I'll be watching some football as well. Mountain biking should be cool; I went last weekend but this one is quite a step up technical wise.
Yeah I'm pretty excited for Football Kickoff tonight...
I'm defending my Fantasy Football Championship yet again this year, with another Under Dog roster of a team.
(I think I prefer an underdog cinderlla team, over having a high powered ass kickin' team... More of a challenging, and storied season!)

It irks me to pay for a hunting license, I will do it in Ohio, but in Md, NO WAY JOSE!! I don't have to on my property. I pay enough damned taxes! I had a DNR cop try to write me a ticket 2 years ago for not having a license. He pulls out his citation book and I told him to get bent. Very bad drawing of the ones we built. Remember it was Arkansas in the 70's we weren't big on finesse.

I bought one of these for the home and the boat.
Basically I like to marinate the meat the day before and cut it into little strips.
Then serve packets of meat and fondue forks so everyone can cook their own and drink. Bit like the Korean bbq style.

As for Licenses...
Up here, I consider it an honor to pay my meager licensing fees...
MNDNR has been nothing but successful with every single dollar they get... Every species that they've intended to improve in the last 20 years, is now doing too well...

Yeah, the more I educate myself on the various wild life and eco concerns... The more I'm seeing a direct relationship, between the amount of political involvment in a DNR department and it's lack of success...
No offense CM... But the WIDNR is straight up CROOKED... And it's not the Biologists and CO's... They're doing their damndest... But it's the fact that they let the State Senate Control their budget (Which is the case) and then they let the Senate start dictating terms.
Now starting in 2009, Musky and Bass will open for C&R, the same time as Walleye on the first Saturday of May. (Which is a full month early)
The Biologists told them "That's the pre-spawn and spawning time." They didn't care... They set the opening, so early to draw in revenue from the border waters states.
****
Same thing... Ohio, MN, and NY... Are at the fore front of the Great Lake Preservation act... Which if ratified makes it illegal to sell the water from the Great Lakes to the drought battered sun belt.
WI refuses to sign, because the sale of great lakes water could make them as rich a state as Texas.
The biologists keep saying "Hey guys... 99% of the Water in the Great Lakes is a 1 time gift of the glaciers." And the WI senate responds by playing "Money" by Pink Floyd.

Or if the car was shined up, and he claimed it was a show car, that he just couldn't afford to hold onto anymore....
My guess is that he's playing with words to keep from straight out saying "We blew up the first engine, and there's 63K on this motor."

Yeah like my Dad's saw, sat all those years... And really, all she needed was the Carb retuned... Once I had that down, she would have ran... Had the fuel line not exploded with age.
This winter Marlon and I are going to tear it down and try to give her a full ressurection... Then I'll have 2 saws.
Something tells me that if I buy or install a wood boiler in my next house, I'm going to need a back up saw to go with the Husky.

She's like yep. Ummm.... Yeah. Please let me speak to your supervisor.
